Final piece in the jigsaw for Napoli's front three. Shock destination because they hadnt been linked much up until now but I think they are building a team that can achieve very good things. Maybe that was the selling point for Cavani, as with Inter he probably would not have featured as a starter and I don't think he's the marque forward Juve are looking for. Is Napoli a step up from Palermo though. Historically yes, but currently, in terms of their players and team ability, no.
Word is Palermo will use the money to buy Hernanes. Top midfield with him and Pastore lined up in it.

Genoa sign Rafina. Once again, no pissing about from Preziosi on the mercato front as he delivers another courted by big big clubs to Genoa. Great work it has to be said.

Seems Genoa will really go for it this season. No European distraction and players like Veloso, Rafinha and Luca Toni have arrived. They will battle for the 3rd place.

Its going to be interesting to see how Napoli and Palermo, with European commitments, contend with Fiorentina and Genoa, who don't. I don't see Samp featuring in this battle, as they don't seem to have learnt their lessons from the 08/09 season where they were overstretched in the league and Uefa cup. Ulimately an interesting season is afoot and I don't think anything is a given.

^ That's a point about us, because, even with Hernanes, unless there's others, I can't see us guaranteed Europe, because of the likes of Genoa, who have also got a fella called Zucilini, a young Argentine talent, and a highly competent goalkeeper in Eduardo, on top of the other names you mentioned.
Preziosi has always impressed me since they came back up, strengthen, strengthen, and then some more. Last year was weak for them but never at any point did he think Gasperini was to blame. He realised the likes of Zapater and Kharja didn't work out and has tried to rectify it with more quality. Good on them.

I think that Palermo is losing the battle this mercato. Cavani, Bresciano and Kjaer are huge blow to the team. Napoli are playing rational without any BIG investments. They already got Cavani and Dossena. Their attacking force mixed with brilliant Mazzari will be real threat to ALL Serie A teams.
Now, Preziosi made a project for respect. Pure brilliance. Genoa will finish top 4, no doubt about that. Viola will be a threat as usual and I think that Mutu suspension was the downhill for them in the last season. Sampdoria seems to be run by Lotito twin brother. They've done nothing so far and I give them our precious mid-table position.
It will surely be very competitive and quality season. All this news are good for Calcio in general but extremely bad for Lazio. Gentleman we are losing the battle so far.

Genoa taking a 4th spot is highly unlikely in my books. They get Veloso Zuculini Luca Toni and what now , Rafinha?(Bresciano Hernanes>those 4 put together) and NOW have the talent for top 4? I think Palermo have a much stronger team and it was a shame that 5 spots don't go to champions league. They were quite something last season and you will see Palermo fighting for that 4th spot surely. To me Genoa is out way out of the question. Which brings me to an idea. We should have a serie a prediction game. I've played in pools where: 1) you pick 2 forwards 4 midfield 4 defense 1 goalie and you add up goals scored and if the league wants assists also. Attackers get x amount of points for goals y amount of points for assists.. midfield.. xy..defense.. xy..goalie shutout gets points. You get 2 transfers allowed at the start of january transfer market(mercy rule can be added if theres a long-term injury). And then the twist is, before the season you predict the what the standings will look like and every placement you get correct is z amount of points. 2) Predict the games.. x amount of points for choosing win loss tie correctly and y amount of points for the correct score We would need someone to organize it nice. Money involved would be much more thrilling, i guess whoever has a paypal account or if you can meet the organizer in person can join. thoughts?

I see what you are saying about Palermo, but they have 30 million to invest if they choose to now from the sales of Cavani and Kjaer and you would think they would choose to invest some of it. They still remain strong for me with Pastore, Liverani, Miccoli, Maccarone, and Abel Hernanez who I think will be better than Cavani in a year or so anyhow. Genoa have built on a strong base. There problem last season was the absence of a 15+ goal scorer like they had the season before in Milito and an inability to defend as their goals conceded stats was awful. They may have solved that with Toni and they have Ranocchia on loan for the season as well. I'm glad Giovinco has left Juve, he would have spent all season on the bench again so now he has a chance to show his worth. Prediction game would be fun. Me and Theo played one on football Italia last year, maybe that one could be used on the forum. It follows Aquiles second point.

I really didn't want to get involved in this discussion because, it doesn't even merit discussion.
Toni, Eduardo, Zuculini, Ranocchia for 1 year, Rafinha... for your usual ridiculousness in saying that Bresciano and Hernanes (who we still haven't got) is better then all of them, I'll just throw in Gonzalez to equal it up a bit, and lest we forget Pintos.
Genoa's mercato has been stronger then ours. I don't see why that would be an issue.

okay, Tare has Hernanes signature on his desk, that is why he is no longer in Brazil stranded. We just have to wait until that fucking cup is done. Toni.. can he still run or stand up straight properly? Eduardo.. he is not giong to make Genoa better or atleats a significant amount Ranocchia- coming off of a long-term injury, Lose Sokratis gain Ranocciha. +1 -1. Zuculini.. wowww.im guessing he's left bench? Rafinha.. maybe jussst maybe he might have a good season because its a new team new country and he needs to prove himself. I still wont bet on it though. vs. Bresciano- overall an average signing, we know what to expect. Hernanes- Was considered top prospect and living up to expectations (currently in the Brazil National Team). I think this is Lazio's one big break in calcio's mercato Okay I know nothing about Gonzalez but I read that he just missed Uruguays World Cup team I think I will go with Lotito's signings Thank you.( didn't even mention securing Floccari from them)
