Greetings

The Lazio v Palermo game in September i am planning on attending with a friend, we are Swindon Town fans and plan to visit Rome to take in a Lazio game and also a 'fan pilgrimage' to the home of our manager Paolo Di Canio

How do the Lazio fans get on with the English, would we be ok wearing our Swindon shirts, with Di Canio on them?  Will we be welcomed/embraced or frowned upon?

I would love to be able to be in The Curva in my Swindon shirt cheering on Lazio to victory

Many Thanks

Welcome.

Don't Swindon town wear red? I'm not sure I have to go any further as to why wearing that colour would be a bad idea in the curva nord especially as most would likely be unfamiliar with your other club.

I wouldnt wear red, especially not in the Curva.

I very much doubt youd get any trouble, but if youre gonna get it, it would be in Curva if youre in the "wrong" colour, as that is where the ultras stand, who are more likely to make trouble. Especially toward foreigners not in our colours.

Also bear in mind there are some fans who arent big on Di Canio since various comments he has made on Italian TV/newspapers etc.

To be safe, id wear our colours, if you cant wear a Lazio shirt.

Around the city youll be fine, Italians are generally great people, and if you make the effort to learn some Italian, even just a few words, they will appreciate it.

Where are you planning on getting your tickets?

Hmm, thought that may be the case unfortunatley

The tickets idea was going to be my next question! Any advice regarding that at all?

There are a handful of websites that sell them, and you can pick them up from the stadium, or they drop them off at your hotel, but tickets usually dont go on sale until the week before the game.

But, buying tickets from the offiicial store near Termini couldnt be easier, just go in and ask. The staff (usually an old woman) are really friendly. Youll need your passport for ID.

Yeah, went to a Lazio - Milan game about 4 years ago? 0-0. Tickets were quite easy i recall, hopefully the same this time

Also praying the game stays on the Sunday (25th) as we will be flying out in the morning of the game

I'm sure if you wear a swindon jersey, scarf etc. you will not be bothered at Olimpico - I've regularly seen Liverpool garb. The connection would be obvious.

Depends where you sit to be honest.

By no means is the stadium dangerous, far from it, and the fans are not violent (despite what the press would make you believe)
If you sit in Tevere, you could probably where what you wanted, last time I was there I saw a guy in a Chelsea shirt, although obviously 99% are in Lazio colours.

All im saying, is if I were you, I wouldnt wear it in Curva. As I say, I genuinely dont think youd get trouble, but IF you were going to find it, it would be in Curva.
