wow that is beautiful, i had no idea of the magnitude of the stadium they were building. 40-50 thousand seating ? This will make the olimpico look like a dump. I was against the team moving to a new stadium because of the history we have at the olimpic, but now I'm all for it. I think this will be a fresh start, bring income to the team and not have to share with the merda. This team is on its way to revival.

Don't get too excited these are just plans. There are rumours (have been for a while) that Puma has already expressed interest in naming rights. I've said this a thousand times, we MUST have our own stadium if we want to be amongst the elite teams (just look at all the premship teams). BUT it MUST BE IN ROME!!!! I'm willing to accept that the whole Valmontone imbroglio was just to put pressure on the municipal government in Rome. Let's keep our fingers crossed.

I always said this would be a great move, somehow many here do not feel that way. Rome will be great, but where we cant get it, the other option will be cool. 40,000 capacity is small for me. Lets hope for the best.

If they 40,000 capacity is small than they better do something about the pathetic attendance record first (less than 6000 per game). Hopefully if they can be an entertaining team that wins then you'll see attendance go up. Most people dont want to go watch their team tie, lose or get mauled for the most part, like we saw most of last season.
Here in Toronto we SELL OUT every game for Toronto FC and we only have 20,000 capacity and they're a shit team compared to Lazio and tickets can be significantly more expensive than tickets to see lazio.
This idea is great but lets see what happens.

Lotito Reveals New Stadium Plans Lazio president Claudio Lotito has revealed new plans to begin working towards the construction of new stadium for the club...
The Biancocelesti have been sharing the Stadio Olimpico with Roma over the years, but this arrangement could be about to cease.
The Aquilotti’s bitter city rivals are also looking to move to a new venue, but Lotito is nevertheless speeding ahead with his plans.
“The mayor of Rome has given his agreement for both Lazio and Roma to go ahead with stadium plans and he is up for the idea.” Lotito told Laziosiamonoi.it. “If the administration costs are not sky high, that is.
“We currently evaluating the technical side and we have already identified a few sites where the stadium could be built.
“We will be hoping the new venue benefits everyone collectively. The aim is a stadium which will not rely on TV rights, but guarantee them.
“We were born in Rome in 1908 and we want to remain in the city, rather than move outside to a new area.”
Lazio are off to a good start in Serie A this term and will be hoping to carry their good form through to the game against Sampdoria at the weekend.
The Stadium plans are for the good of both Lazio and Roma, as the Italian authorities would prefer each team to have their own ground in order to help tackle the violence which has been plaguing Serie A recently.

“We were born in Rome in 1908 and we want to remain in the city, rather than move outside to a new area.” 1908, ao try 1900!!!!! This year we have already sold 23,000 season tickets (reeoma has about 25,000) which goes to show that the team has support as long as the product is competitive)

Research has shown that there has been a six per cent increase in season ticket purchases in Italy's top tier. Newly promoted outfits Chievo and Bologna have enjoyed increases of 115 per cent and 81 per cent respectively on their return to the big stage. After a summer of impressive signings, including Argentine ace Mauro Zarate, Lazio have enjoyed a rush for tickets and have enjoyed a 56 per cent rise. Somewhat surprisingly, Milan have sold fewer tickets in spite of the Ronaldinho effect but remain the Serie A leaders in advanced sales with 41,606 seats accounted for, narrowly ahead of Inter's 40,000. Juventus have enjoyed a slight improvement but Torino, Napoli, Reggina and Roma have sold fewer season tickets.

Season ticket sale is up, imagine what will be when we keep improving and have our own ground. I have always supported this move and i hope it works out, like lolitto said, finace will be a factor.

Finance will be the factor, check this out I was very surprised when I read this:
According to The Football Money League published by consultants Deloitte, in the 2004–05 season Lazio was the twentieth highest earning football club in the world with an estimated revenue of €83 million.
Money are here so what is the problem?

^^^ it doesn;t take into account the spalmadebiti we are currently engaged in, Lazio are responsible to pay off its tax debts over 24 years in a deal with the Italian government that saved the team from bankruptcy.

This stadium talk has been around for ages but seems to be more serious as of late. I'm sure once they get the okay it will be another 4 or more years before its actually built... especially when your talking about buildings being thrown up in italy.
