Just thought I'd start a thread about our Primavera team since they are doing so well at the moment. The formation of the league: The teams are divided into three groups (14 teams per league) and then go into a knockout formation (consisting of 16 teams). Lazio won their group (Roma were in it as well ) and went to the knockout system. Then there were two games against AlbinoLeffe which our boys won 3-1 on aggregate. Eight teams are left now and the next game is 1 of June I think (the other teams are Chievo, Genoa, Palermo, Juventus, Siena, Udinese and Reggina). Lazio last won the Campionato Primavera in 2001. The second match against AlbinoLeffe was just yesterday (May 23rd) and it went 2-1 with Kozak and Sciamanna scoring, Lotito and Delio Rossi were in the stands. The team vs AlbinoLeffe(4-3-3): Degre Faraoni - Tuia - Cinelli - Luciani Sperati, Tamalio, Sevieri (64' Troisi) Kozak, Mendicino (84' Pisa Di Monterosa), Ricci (68' Sciamanna)

Great topic, bravo. I don't know why we have to wait for so long. You presented primavera system well. I can only add that Degre, Tuia, Faraoni and Sperati played great and got everyone attention.

Yeah, I didn't know much about primavera because there ain't no place that covers it. It's a great achievement for us. Have to say, though, that Kozak and Mendicino are no where near ready to play for the starting XI yet. I was very disappointed with the pair of them against useless Reggina. All I expected was to see flashes, no more no less, from these guys that they have what it takes to be a help to us next year, I didn't see it.

This is very strong squad for primavera teams right? , who can stop Kozak and Mendicio?

Pierluigi Casiraghi make the list for Italy Nt U-21, no single Laziale in it although our primavera kids reach the finale and finish first in their group. the call ups. Abate (Torino), Acquafresca (Cagliari), Andreolli (Sassuolo), Balotelli (Inter), Bocchetti (Genoa), Candreva (Livorno), Cerci, Cigarini e Consigli (Atalanta), Criscito (Genoa), De Ceglie (Juventus), Dessena (Sampdoria), Giovinco e Marchisio (Juventus), Marzoratti (Empoli), Morosini (Vicenza), Motta (Roma), Paloschi (Parma), Pisano (Cagliari), Poli (Sassuolo), Ranocchia (Bari), Seculin (Fiorentina) e Sirigu (Ancona). The competition is quite strong but this is disappointing though. Source: read more http://www.piazzadellaliberta.it/2009/06/01/under-21-neanche-un-laziale-agli-europei/

No disgrace as they are already big impact players.

That is something the first squad lacks, getting a older player even at the back such as Ayala or in th mid Nedved can help along the younger players. Players like Paloschi and giovinco play even better and can grow much faster as they are surrounded by superstars.

New star is born. Lorenzo Cinque primavera kid who only knew about Lazio. Cinque says no to Barcelona and Chelsea hey won't have him. He won't be another Macheda, he won't leave Rome, he won't board planes or helicopters to get taken away. Many want him and it's been like this for a year, but he only wants Lazio, and it will be that way for ever. Chelsea and Barcelona have been tracking him for 12 months, and have been close recently. Inter and Juventus have also requested information on him. His name is Lorenzo Cinque, centre-forward of the Lazio primavera. From the class of 1991, he will turn 18 on the 22nd of August. He was born in Rome (father Luigi is from Positano), he has been a Lazio fan all his life. And the commitment to the club colours is worth more than anything else: more than an attractive financial offer, more than the lure of a big international club. This is his belief. HISTORY: Lorenzo is a boy with his head on his shoulders and can count on an exemplary family. He is a boy ahead on the field and in his studies. This year he will attend classical school and will do so ahead of time. He played in the Primavera despite being underage. Yet he has only played football for three years. Up until age 14-15, he competed in swimming. Indeed, he triumphed in swimming, winning national championships. He kicked the football only in his free time for fun. THE CONSECRATION: Last season he was promoted to the Primavera, his rise stopped only by bad luck. He began as a starter, but in October he picked up a foot injury and he was forced to remain out for a month. Without time to recover, he suffered a dislocated shoulder and was out for another month and a half. He has recovered from everything, and is now fit. Next season, he could be a protagonist for the Primavera. Ex-Diesse Sabatini told him one day, "Soon, you'll be wearing the biancoceleste shirt, the most important one." Although he is yet to sign a professional contract (he will be 18 in August). It is his dream. Everything Italian, Roman and biancoceleste. REMEMBER THIS NAME

Yet he has only played football for three years. Up until age 14-15 natural talent. its too bad primavera games are never broadcasted. i'd like to follow Cinque and the rest of lazio's primavera. Jofo hopefully you can update us on his progress. Santon is 18 and hopefully Cinque can get 1 opportunity to play for lazio... the day that happends . Its nice to see he isn't after money but for pride. Unlike Macheda who packed his bags for money and fame. http://www.channel4.com/sport/football_italia/blogs/sw83.html <-- an article on the topic of giving youngsters more chances to play and shows the impact Macheda left at Lazio. more so a few of the laziali comments below

Aquile89, thanks for article, absolutely true what article says. However, this will keep on like that unfortunately. Mourinho has been in Premier League and he knows how things are going on. Utilizing from primavera is so important for success and fund. That's why it is available, but we dont use this and we are finding talents out by speding millions.
I think reason is clear. Clubs including us are trying to save current day, they cant wait long term, impatient. And, coaches know that as long as they are not so bad, they arent to be sacked. So, they dont risk their seat by trying youngs. Actually, I cant exactly blame them coz not enough chances are given them to do this. Espacially in La Liga and England, they give much more importance than others do. And results support this.
I hope the new coach will give the deserved importance to youngs. Not just one match, he should give them more chances and help their growth both psychologically and football mentality. Of course, the youngs that we will play in Serie A matches must be observed well and then chance should be given. This is what Manu and some do. So they are succesful.
