Thats a grim reminder on Mauri but in order to have an overhaul we can start by NOT signing crap and mediocre players like Mauri until 2013/14. I don't mind taking gambles on players or prospects for low amounts but when this kind of quality level gets a long term deal and is only going to get worse due to age what is the purpose. It doesn't take a crystal ball to figure out in 2013 Mauri will be slower which really takes away any of his very limited ability to begin with. Overhaul the team but also the signing policies.

thats what i was afraid of.our own supporters tonight gave a reason to anybody that wants to accuse lazio and even make more people to dislike lazio. This is not what Lazio represends imo. Lazio is about non mollare mai

Lots of things have to happen this summer, its arguably the most crucial mercato in years.
For me firstly, we trim the squad. We are not in Europe, we don't need all these players so a huge effort must be made to cash in on what we have and cut down on what is in a lot of cases money for nothing in terms of wages. The likes of Inzaghi and Manfredini are getting paid to contribute nothing year on year, this must end.
Secondly, its time to offload players that have disappointed for far too long. Meghni and Matuzalem are virtually permanently injured, and contribute little when actually are fit. Ultimately, cut down on this huge squad and then bring in some quality from the transfer funds and saved wages. Quality players should be brought in without paying huge fees for unproven so called stars. Thats principally why im against an Ederson style signing. We are not really in a position to blow it all on one player who as we know may not live up to billing.
Kolarov is likely to go, so inducing a bidding war would be great. Real, Juve and Inter all have expressed an interest so here presents an opportunity for us to actually get the best out of a deal for Lazio, rather than let our best players go for nothing.
For most of this, a quality DS is needed. Marino has worked with Reja before at Napoli, and I'd like to see that here. The Napoli side now is the fruit of his works, a side in Serie C not so long ago that now boasts the likes of Hamsik and Lavezzi.

The ideas expressed above are congruent with mine and I guess that applies to every single person on this forum as well. Naturally, I am a skeptic when it comes to chopping deadwood etc. but if I should allow myself some optimism a new quality DS and Reja staying for a couple of more seasons could possibly make a huge difference. Also, Reja vocally expressing the difficulties in managing 3849 players and dividing the players into three different teams at Formello must have offered Lotito some perspective as well. Trimming out the squad is the most important objective of the summer mercato as far as I am concerned. I would be satisfied with that, one defender and a playmaker. That would be an Operation Overhaul by Lotito's standards but I also choose to look at that as a long-term project spread out over the summer and winter mercato.

Sebastiano Siviglia Lionel Scaloni Ousmane Dabo Cristian Brocchi Roberto Baronio Julio Cruz
I gather that all these have expiring contracts in the summer. I take it this house would accept Brocchi getting 1 more year whilst the others can move on? It would be a good start for the operation imo.

Brocchi can stay for one more season by all means. I like his presence in the squad even if he sat on the bench as a sub the whole season. The rest seriously need to go. Away. Far away.

^^ agreed completely. The rest are the guys that I would say MUST go at all an any cost. There are other guys I'd like to see go but these are the absolutes. I'd add Makinwa and Manfredini.

I agree, Brocchi should get another year but as a rotation player. Someone wrote on the site that Reja wanted to get two central midfielders and if they are of better quality then Brocchi and Ledesma and we sign Floccari permanently and we replace Kolarov with a solid player we are pretty must set for next season as incoming players are concerned. Then of course the squad needs to be trimmed and get rid of the useless junk and have a roster of maybe 25 players.

I just read that Lotito might change Reja. The alternatives are Mihajlovic and Gasperini. About Miha we already talked but Gasperini is more rumored in the past days. Probably there will be swap with both coaches or he just may be added to Floccari deal.

Gasperini may also save Zarate for the Lazio. The obstacle to Zarate seems to be Reja. boh?

I have read about this too and it sounds... ever so slightly far-fetched? Well. All this boils down to the rumours in Rome that Lotito is planning something akin to a revolution. Right. Perhaps he will bring forth The Project? Gasperini may also save Zarate for the Lazio. The obstacle to Zarate seems to be Reja. boh?
What a load of crap. All Lazio related media are in love with that little twat. Zarate could not perform fukk all before Reja and when he was put on the bench his crisis is all of a sudden Reja's fault. Of course it is. According to his brother. Even Lotito is not stupid enough to listen to such nonsense.
