Greetings/Salutations Davide, Benvenuto bla bla bla....

Not for nothing but didn't Lotito say he was going to get us a proven winner last week?  As well as someone who wasn't a reject of another club.  Well the only thing Ballardini has proved thus far is that he's one scary motherf@$&er when he's on the sidelines saying very little and looking like a mafia hit-man with his shades.  As for reject of another club.  Correct me if i'm wrong but Zamparini went and hired another coach (Zenga) before he even fired Ballardini.  Sounds like a break-up/rejection to me.  I'll give him the benefit of the doubt he's done impressive stuff with Cagliari and Palermo this year.  But, these clubs are below us.  at 750k a year we should have been able to lock up someone better no offense.  Foreign would have been my preference but w.e lets see what the hit-man can do.

Lazio Coach Ballardini: We Have The Duty To Be Competitive
The new Lazio coach has been officially unveiled at Formello and he has given his first press conference as he aims to build for success.
New Lazio coach Davide Ballardini has been unveiled by the club and he has given his first words.

The coach has joined on a two year deal with the option to sign on for a third term in charge. He is expected to earn around €750,000 per season and he is aiming high.

"Lazio have the duty to be competitive. I know the players well here and now we have to work hard and be serious," Ballardini told Sky Sport Italia.

"It's important to keep the principles of play and the quality of the players. We have to see how we get on as there would be no point in saying how Lazio will play now."

Ballardini has also spoken about star hitman Mauro Zarate and, although the Argentinean striker has impressed at the club, the new coach believes he has a lot to improve on.

"Zarate is a great player with big qualities, but he still has to develop." added the coach.

"I want to stimulate this team and take it back to the pinnacle of football in line with Claudio Lotito's policies."

New Lazio Coach Davide Ballardini wants to make his side more competitive than they were last season, but admits it'll take a lot of hard work.

The Biancocelesti won the Coppa Italia, but failed to live up to their potential in Serie A, finishing in 10th place.

“I want to make a plan that allows us to improve even more. Lazio always have the job of being competitive.” Ballardini explained.

“It's a very stimulating challenge for me. It will be a beautiful window in which we have to show ourselves.

“The players will have to demonstrate professionalism and put in a lot of work. Lazio have great potential, but they will have to show it in daily application.

“We will need to put the players I have available to me in the best condition to express themselves in the best way they can,” Ballardini said.

“Then we'll find the right system. At the moment I will not speak about how Lazio will play, but we have clear ideas on how to lift the quality of the players that we have at our disposition.

“I am not a trainer, who speaks a lot because I prefer to always respond with facts,” he added before revealing his plans for the transfer market.

“Only players worthy of Lazio will arrive. We still haven't spoken about names. If a player goes away another will arrive of equal or better quality.”

Ballardini then spoke about his respect for his predecessor, Delio Rossi, and the club's fans.

“I know Rossi. He is a person I respect a lot. I like him as a person and how he works. His four years here show he was very capable.

“We have to have respect for the fans and always give the best of ourselves. I am certain that Lazio will do a good job from the point of view of building a team that has players of quality and a sense of belonging.

“This club deserves the attachment of every one of us,” he concluded

Rossi would have changed nothing and that is where our season would be, Ballardinini is not a CL coach but at least can bring a new perspective to the game.  Time will tell what Ballardini can do but preseason is not the best gauge, a europa league spot this season will show his worth.

Rossi hits back at Ballardini
Thursday 19 November, 2009
Delio Rossi has sent a message to Lazio and current Coach Davide Ballardini. “He was training Cagliari while my Lazio played Real Madrid.”

The Coach parted company with the club over the summer and Ballardini was an instant sensation, winning the Italian Super Cup against Inter, but since then has struggled badly and is on the verge of the sack.

“I have never expressed an opinion on a colleague or the style of play of a team that wasn’t my own. This is why I was very annoyed when Ballardini asked what Lazio had done in recent years,” snapped Rossi.

“I could reply qualifying for Europe three times and winning the Coppa Italia. Instead I’ll simply point out he was training Cagliari while my Lazio played Real Madrid.”

He also had some advice for President Claudio Lotito, who has frozen Cristian Ledesma and Goran Pandev out of the squad in a contract dispute.

“Ledesma doesn’t always listen to reason, but with Francelino Matuzalem he forms the best central midfield partnership in Serie A.”

Nonetheless, the Coach has not put the Biancocelesti behind him and continues to keep an eye on them.

“It isn’t right that I sit here going back over my four years at Lazio just to stir up controversy and trouble. With my heart I say that I hope to see them out of this crisis soon.

“I still live in Rome and it’s wonderful that people stop you in the street now not to ask about Tommaso Rocchi or Mauro Zarate, but just to tell you that you’re a good man,” he told Il Messaggero newspaper.
