It's almost like conceding an election to have to post the above pic in a thread that had Champions League written on it. It was thus just a dream like the title of the thread. Looking back on the season as a whole with everything we've had to endure from nervous finishes to gut-wrenching losses against some of our most despised rivals, it seemed that we deserved it on that merit of having to watch Totti, DeRossi and co. prance around 3 times this year on us.
You could look back and make a lot of what if's: If we got the tie we deserved against Napoli when Brocchi's goal was disallowed... If Morganti wasn't such a biased piece of shit and award 2 penalties to the Rigoristi... If Dias doesn't put that ball into his own net against Cagliari.... If Rocchi was healthy...If Reja had more balls against Juventus... IF ZARATE DIDN'T MISS THAT PENALTY AGAINST UDINESE... The points lost alone mentioned here would equal between 3-4 more than enough to secure 4th.
Unfortunately you play until the final whistle. We can be bitter but in the end it was our results against the big teams that landed us here. The crucial 3 game set vs Inter, Juventus, and especially Udinese sealed our fate. Udinese peaked at the right time going on that unbelievable run after January...Hats off to them. Although I strongly believe what I saw between them and Milan today was nothing more than a ping pong match in the midfield I can't blame Milan for not trying or risking injury but I won't forget the lousy soccer I saw today between both sides which really in the end looked like an orchestrated affair with all parties concerned. (Perhaps Amelia missed the meeting...he played great)
Considering this time last year we were thankful to avoid the drop, I would have signed in blood for a E.L spot prior to the start of the season. However to be in the top 4 for 30 something weeks of the season only to see the dream fade in one scuffed penalty is that harshest thing to swallow next to that piece of shit saluting his inbreed of fans with a shirt that said:
The King Of Rome is not dead The amount of exciting games we were involved in this year was enough to age me a few years, so for that I'm glad this season has come to a close. I thank all the staff and its players for restoring respect to our name. I hope they have learned very valuable lessons on being clinical in front of the net, the importance of the derbies, and above all the respect towards the fans. The onus now switches to Lotito and co. to prepare us for our next official match on
August 18th, 2011 which is slated by UEFA to be the Playoff Round 1st leg of the Europa League.
With hopefully some new faces and wonderful new kits representing
Noi Siamo La Prima Squadra Della Capitale I expect to be even more competitive as we fly the Italian flag in E.L and help restore quickly that 4th Qualifying spot ASAP.
Forza Lazio
