With the Supercoppa a month away I realized that aside from 2 games I have no idea what type of schedule we're running with as prep for the August 8th in Beijing:

From what i've gathered online our fixture list looks like this:

August 8th, 2009: TIM Supercoppa v Inter.
August 13th, 2009:  Friendly v Osasuna (Team Unveiling)
August 20th, 2009:  Europa Leauge Play-off Round 1st Leg
August 27th, 2009:  Europa Leauge Play-off Round 2nd Leg

Meanwhile, The Season Starts August 23rd now.  This is quite alarming considering we have  45 days before the season starts while I see only 4 matches scheduled in that time frame while 3 out of the 4 are real competitive matches considering that we're actually playing for something in the Cup and Europa Leauge.  I'm sure we have mini games against the Lega-Pro teams on a daily basis in training but if anyone knows of any other friendlies booked please post it here.  I really hope we have a competitive friendly before Aug. 8th.

It is an early start, but only 1 week earlier than last year so not too bad. Though, we did have more friendly last year, Liverpool, Porto etc.

More could be added...........we should just try and settle the squad.

Sounds like a boring list of friendlies. I dont get it .. How does a team like Lazio manage to organize games against such small teams yet here in Toronto ... our local Toronto FC will be facing Real Madrid next month with an agreement that kaka AND ronaldo MUST play at least 45 minutes. I wish we could act sooner in the transfer market and play some bigger teams to see how we can measure and what to expect for the new season. I hate to be mr. negative but I'm not getting a good vibe for next year... unless some major moves are made.

Yeah but that TFC Real matchup is merely a money grab it has nothing to do with preperation, Im assuming there will be another decent opponent scheduled, like we played Liverpool last summer ( I think?).

The way I see it at the moment, we are falling behind. Genoa have bought well and there is a revolution going on in Napoli with their mercato. Fiorentina will spend their money from the Melo sale. We will need to do something more to stay in touch, especially in defence.

Real Madrid is a corporation and NOT a soccer team. They sell themselves to the highest bidders like whores. TFC is a high paying john without the class to attract a team on its own merit (sorry, I like the team, but...).

Lazio will play Craiova (or something) @ 1800 local time. The game should be available in streaming from the following:

http://www.romauno.tv

Would be nice to see the team's development thus far.

Todays game. I bet that we will score 10 goals and yellow for Inzaghino for arguing with the line referee.

Lazio Held To Draw By Universitatea Craiova
In their first friendly of the summer, Lazio saw Romanian side Universitatea Craiova come back from a goal down to draw 1-1...
Earlier this evening Lazio played their first friendly of their pre-season preparation period against Romanian side Universitatea Craiova and were held to a 1-1 draw.

Davide Ballardini's side played in a 4-2-3-1 formation, with Pasquale Foggia, Stefano Mauri and Mauro Zarate behind Tommaso Rocchi in attack.

In the 14th minute, Lazio looked dangerous for the first time, when Mauri found Rocchi in a good position, but the opposing goalkeeper stood in the way of the striker's shot.

Mauri continued to impress and, in the 26th minute, he offered Foggia a great chance, but the Italy international hit a low left footed shot just wide.

The Romanians had a good chance of their own in the 40th minute, when Florin Costea took advantage of a mistake by Aleksandr Kolarov and fired on goal with only a great clearence on the goal line by Sebastiano Siviglia stopping them taking the lead.

Just before the break, Lazio keeper Fernando Muslera pulled off a great save to deny Costea again, stopping a powerful shot that was heading for the top corner.

Ballardini made a number of changes to the team at half time, bringing on new arrivals Eliseu and goalkeeper Albano Bizzarri.

On the hour mark, Lionel Scaloni put Lazio in front after receiving the ball in the area, slotting the ball home at the second attempt.

In the 65th minute, there was a double chance for the Biancocelesti, as first Fabio Firmani saw a shot saved by the keeper and, on the rebound, Simone Inzaghi tried a header which was again saved by the shot-stopper.

Eleven minutes later, Craiova found an equaliser, as New Zealand striker Michael Baird headed in a cross from the left wing to make it 1-1.

He does not impressed as the report is saying but his new role might be revelation to him. He's natural position is teraquista so he could turn up fine.

haha I called Mauri shining with Balladrini as a coach from the start...hopefully it works out we all know he has potential lets see if Balladrini can figure it out.

I really like the idea of:

Foggia(Eliseu)     Mauri        Zarate

                        Rocchi

I think this will bring out the best in all of these guys.

mauri like other players if surrounded by talent can improve.  He has more potential than Ledesma and not causing so many problems in the market is a bonus
