The final score was  2-0 and found this match report

The Biancocelesti got off to the perfect start on three minutes thanks to Matuzalem.

The Brazilian midfielder smashed a thunderous left-foot drive into the net from distance to give his side the lead. It was a superb hit which left Chalkias with no chance in goal for the Greek side.

Lazio were in great form and they did create a number of chances but a lack of ruthlessness and some poor finishing prevented them from doubling their adavantage.

Meghni then wrapped up the game in the second half after two minutes of the restart. His shot took a wicked deflection but it was no more than Lazio deserved.

It was a solid performance from Delio Rossi’s men, who enjoyed a standing ovation from the crowd after the final whistle.

Teams

Lazio: Carrizo (Muslera), Lichtsteiner (Diakitè), Siviglia (Faraoni), Rozhenal (Cribari), Radu (Manfredini), Meghni (Cinelli), Ledesma, Matuzalem (Dabo), Mauri (Mendicino), Pandev (Foggia), Makinwa (Zarate).

Paok Salonika: Chalkias, Sznaucner, Contreras, Malezas, Darlas (Kostantinidis), Balafas (Iliadis), Veron, Conceicao (Lakis), Ivic, Vierinha (Georgiu), Muslimovic (Bakayoko).

Friendly: Lazio on the double
Wednesday 13 August, 2008
Lazio secured a confidence-boosting 2-0 win over Greek side PAOK Salonica last night with one of their new boys on the score-sheet.

The Biancocelesti were looking to put their worrying recent form behind them and erase memories of defeats against Liverpool and Porto in their last two outings.

It had also been a sombre day in the Lazio camp because of the news that star striker Tommaso Rocchi is likely to miss the start of the campaign with a broken fibula.

But there was a warm atmosphere at the Stadio Olimpico and the players and staff were presented to the fans before the game, receiving a standing ovation.

The rousing reception seemed to motivate Delio Rossi’s men as they came out of the blocks very quickly.

After just two minutes, summer signing Francelino Matuzalem blasted home from distance with a stunning left-foot drive for 1-0.

The hosts continued to force the pace and created a number of half-chances during a frantic first period.

But the second goal came at the start of the second half when former Bologna midfielder Mourad Meghni found the net, albeit courtesy of a cruel deflection off a Greek defender.

The familiar flow of substitutions took the rhythm away from the game but it was an evening of optimism for Lazio’s fans.

There was a touching moment when PAOK brought off former Aquile star Sergio Conceição and he was greeted with deafening applause.

We need to play one more quality game in front of the fans.
But for the next week, hard training and focus and strategies are vital.

about Matu's goal- It was his right foot !!! I think that the authors do not know the difference between RIGHT and LEFT FOOT!    Still the most important thing is that WE won with domination gameplay!
