Lazio e basta

Im guessing Latius is still in Italy, so I thought Id step in a give us a platform for discussion for our big game on Sunday afternoon.

Lazio head south to Palermo to take on Delio Rossi's side a week after a win for the capital side in Parma, that has somewhat been seen as a rebirth. The impact of Edy Reja was there to be seen already against Parma, as Lazio showed intent for a full 90 minutes for arguably the first time in this whole season, and scored more than one goal in Serie A for only the third time in this campaign. With Ledesma back in the side, and Sergio Floccari demonstrating yet again that he has quality there is at last something to be positive about for us Laziale.

Palermo however will be very difficult opponents. Unbeaten at home this season, with victories over Napoli, Juventus and Fiorentina, they seem formidable at home. However, they have somewhat slipped up of late, losing heavily away to Bari and then destroyed against Rioma last weekend which saw some public criticism from extrovert president Zamperini concerning Delio Rossi's squad selection. Whether this unharmonious incident could work in our favour or not remains to be seen but taking something from this game is possible given the momentum swing that would surely have given our team some confidence after collecting three points at Parma.

Forza Lazio

Lazio last five: W-Parma, L-Catania, D-Juve, D-Chievo, L-Atalanta

Palermo last five: L-Roma, W-Parma, L-Bari, W-Fiorentina, D-Napoli

Good analysis for the match. Can we become the first side to defeat Palermo on their home turf this season? If we can sustain the fighting spirit and confidence from the Parma game anything is possible. If Palermo are still reeling from the humiliation in the hands of Merda the chances are very good indeed. That is all I can say at the moment.

For those in the GTA, this game will be on at 9 AM on TLN.

That means for the others that this game will be at least on bet365.com

Cavani Miccoli Pastore will be tough to contain but I do have confidence in our defense to contain them. I also think with such attacking power we should go back to 4 defenders with Diakite in the middle with Stendardo to eliminate Cavani's threat in the air.

Thanks for the TLN notice, no internet feed for Once!! A draw is good but I hope to see the same formation, let the players get used to the formation especially since it has worked already.  With Diakite in the middle for 4 defenders I still think the extra midfielder is the best option since it shuts down the play before the scoring chance even gets into the box.  Diakite IMO should stay as a sideback where any mistakes he makes are less critical. They have a lot of speed so clogging up the midfield also helps sht down their attack.

Only change from last week should be Mauri out and get foggia or zarate on for 45 min each.  Palermo is a tough place to play even when they are not a strong team so Reja's biggest test for sure in the next month.  Hard to think that they are better than Fiorentina.

I read in the Gazzetta dello Sport today that Rocchi has the flu and isn't training?!  But as it stands, Reja is sticking with the 3-5-2 formation against Palermo again.

                                                 Muslera

                        Biava                Stenardo              Radu

Lichtsteiner         Brocchi             Ledesma              Mauri          Kolarov

                                   Floccari                  Rocchi

Stick to what works I guess.  Seemed to work well and now they've had extra time to practice with it and should be more confident.

Forza!

Not a bad one.I would prefer Hitzlsperger instead of Mauri or Brocchi...But it is ok just like this no question about it..(Foggia or Matuzalem are not ready yet)...
And if Rocchi not play Zarate will take his place..

Not only Rocchi but also Brocchi, Kolarov and Roberto "I am always fit for fight" Baronio were missing the training today because of the influenza. So the lineup tested today and perhaps, with a bit of bad luck, for the game on Sunday:

Muslera; Biava, Banner, Radu; Lichtsteiner, Firmani, Ledesma, Mauri, Del Nero; Floccari, Zarate

I am ever more certain Hitzlsperger has vanished into a footballer's black hole if still he does not figure in anywhere. If Mauri serves some genious tactical purpose as the left CM then surely in the absence of Kolarov Hitze should be on the left flank. He can play that position too. I am just not very much into Del Nero.

I can't believe you guys still want rocchi to start over zarate.  Rocchi was useless all of last game. True or false?

Lets hope that this line-up was just for training and will not appear against Palermo. We bought Hitzlsperger who is a good player who also plays in national team..Why should sit on bench in order for some else like Baronio lets say play?Big question...Lets see.The match day is near....With his previous match tactics Reja show that we can trust him..Hope he does not fail us....

Nobody in this thread has specifically stated wanting to see Rocchi start, but now that you mention it, I do. According to you yourself Rocchi was not entirely useless against Parma. I would obviously say the same. You are looking for a reason why Rocchi should start then? Well, for not being allowed to play with continuity, he has not got into the rhythm of game play and that must have affected his performances to an extent. Yet I still think he has been one of the most consistent players in the squad. Another thing is, I am sure you would agree how well it worked to bench Zarate. Throw him in the game for the last 20-30 minutes and he will storm the pitch full of energy and hunger to prove himself. I presume it was exactly what Reja intended last Sunday and it worked well.

Hitzlsperger has been in the slump for the entire season. He lost his NT slot and captain's arm band at Stuttgart. That says enough. If he is not playing it means he is still struggling to find his form. What I am wondering is HOW deep could he possibly have sunken for Mauri to take his rightful place as a starter.

Well im just reading on lalaziosiamonoi and lazio are playing an exhibition right now.  They're slapping some team 3-0.  Hitzlspeger started and apparently is playing pretty good.  Zarate has all 3 goals lol.  Hopefully he can do that this weekend.

Mah, where is Imper. He isn't all that amazing in truth but he does have a knack of finding out training formations and lineup's etc. I can't really comment on anything until I see them.
