I cant understand how Ledesma could be so uncareful.   we played well if we was able to play 11, things could be different...

Mauri, Ledesma and Brocchi were terrible today! Carrizo was excellent! And......I hate to say this but I thought the referee was awful today.

I hate losing to this f***ing team! Especially, when we are high up the table and they are in the relegation zone. We gave them 3 points today.

Oh, well, maybe next week we'll get back on track!

Once again the tridente has shown nothing and did not work.  I thought Brocchi played well and gave us what we can expect from him, Ledesma was simply reckless and Mauri and Pandev were nonexistent.  I dont know, Carizzo kept us in it and i guess we deserved at least a tie if we could have buried even one of our chances.  We were playing a desperate team and they got lucky.

Ledesma has been bad the whole season.  All our attack came from our fullbacks, but still we need to play him in order to show case him to other teams... I just didnt expect he sucks this bad.

Now i think we have another strong competitor for a top spot, this will give them a boost.........ledesma is out for the next game but i think mauri should be benched,i cannot pick his contribution in that game and many other games.

I think it was pure luck that rioma won. If that net was a foot taller and a foot wider we would have won the game 3-1. We completely dominated the whole game and much like the napoli unluckily conceded a goal. It's shit to lose to the merde of all teams but in trying to find good out of today is that we played the game better. I still think they have a relegation battle on their hands and we can still prove to be one of the top teams. We have a touch road ahead with Inter, Juve, Udinese etc. and these games will be a true test because these are teams that are top of the table. I think the second time we face them it will be a different result.

It may be a different result if...........
I think they will be high on confidence now.
We did well no doubt, if pandev was half in that game i wonder what would have happened,he didnt play well and missed a clear goal,i said b4 now that we will miss chances.

I though the coach should have made the 3 strikers switch roles from time to time, he played pandev on the right so he can cut in and shoot,it barely worked.

Mauri that was meant to free the strikers and make them chase balls and put pressure on the roma defence didnt know what he was doing, rather we played fromt eh wings to attack most time and brocchi was not it.

It is fair enough that most of the top guys lost, that makes us feel we are still in the mix.

Player Ratings: Roma 1-0 Lazio
Julio Baptista powered Roma past Lazio in the Derby della Capitale. Goal.com rates the players on show……
 ROMA

Doni: 7.0- He was sporting a giant sized bandage on his head which did not affect his reflexes as he made a great save on Zarate in the 51st minute and a vital block on Pandev in the 74th.

Tonetto: 6.0- Protected the left flank with gusto and earned his paycheque with a solid effort.

Juan: 6.5- Showed glimpses of his old self with a commanding performance keeping Rocchi and Pandev in check.

Mexes: 7.0- Won everything in the air tonight it what was a herculean performance by the Frenchman

Panucci: 6.0- Pushed forward well and sent in some delicious crosses from the right flank.

Brighi: 7.0- Did very well protecting the Roma back four and was a vital part of the derby win tonight.

De Rossi: 6.0- Passed a late fitness test to feature in the derby but failed to impress with his set piece deliveries tonight.

Perrotta: 6.0- Did his team no favours with a foolish tackle that earned him a straight red card with the match on the line

Vucinic: 6.5- Had a golden opportunity foiled by Carrizo in the 19th minute and set up Menez for a brilliant opportunity that went begging in the 76th minute.

Baptista: 7.5- One of Roma’s summer signings finally paid dividends as the Beast’s glancing header beat Carrizo for the only goal of the game.

Totti: 7.0- The beloved Roma captain supplied the cross for Baptista’s goal.

SUBS: Menez (75”) 6.5, Cassetti (77”) 6.0, Taddei (88”) NA

LAZIO

Carrizo: 7.0- The Argentine goalkeeper made a great save on Vucinic’s diving header in the 19th minute as well as a crucial stop on Menez in the 76th but could do nothing on Baptista’s well placed header.

Radu: 6.0- Had to be wary of Panucci’s forward runs and had a tough time in the second half dealing with Vucinic,

Rozenhal: 6.0- Teamed up well with Siviglia in the heart of the defence but it was poor marking that lead to Baptista’s goal.

Siviglia: 6.0- Kept a tight lid on Totti and Baptista in the first half but the duo combined for only goal of the match early in the second half.

Lichtsteiner: 7.0- Rumbled forward on a couple occasions and would have been pleased with his overall performance except for the free header he sent over the bar in the 90th minute.

Brocchi: 6.0- The ex-Milan man battled hard in the midfield trenches but could not match the steel of Brighi and De Rossi

Ledesma: 5.0- He is usually the architect of the Lazio attack but was muzzled by Brighi and to make matters worse was sent packing in the 65th minute as he failed to keep his emotions in check.

Mauri: 5.5- Did not have the space necessary to create any chances and was eventually substituted off early in the second half
Rocchi: 6.5-  The inspirational Lazio captain almost tied the match up in the 69th minute with a curling effort that almost found the roof of the net.

Pandev: 6.5- It was a subdued effort from the pride of Macedonia in the first half but came close to finding the back of the net twice in the final 45 minutes.

Zarate: 7.0- Missed a free header in the 22nd minute but was the most dangerous Lazio player tonight even though he faded in and out of the match in the second half.

SUBS: Meghni (59”) 6.0, Dabo (80”) NA Inzaghi (83”) NA

Rossi's substitutions were no doubt a little sketchy. I disagree with people saying the trident failed and shouldn't be used again considering we dominated the whole game. Foggia should have started in Mauri's place. I'm not sure what he was thinking taking off rocchi for inzaghino and after meghni's last performance I'm surprised he was given a chance to play such a high stakes game.

Zarate looked the best out there. He carried the ball and faught tooth and nail to try and give us a goal. Ledesma was wreckless and if we had a reliable sub .. would have been taken off in the first half.

At the end of the day .. I still like our position on the table a whole lot more than their lucky 3 points.

Yeah i do not think the tridente will not work, but not with mauri.
We need a quality and tough player to set them up. free them, a player that will see all the option and capitalise on one.
Mauri was shit and has been most of the time.
And also make the tridente switch places, pandev played on the right side all night, it made me sick.

Rossi: Lapse In Concentration Cost Us The Derby
Delio Rossi’s Lazio went down 1-0 at the Stadio Olimpico against Roma in another edition of the Derby della Capitale earlier tonight.
Lazio suffered their fifth defeat of the campaign, as they went down 1-0 to fierce rivals Roma, thanks to a second half goal from Julio Baptista earlier tonight.

Following the contest, the Lazio boss believed that just “one moment of distraction” cost his side at least a point on the night.

His side were reduced to ten men midway through the second half, following the dismissal of Cristian Ledesma, however they did manage to be just as competitive in the closing stages of the contest.

“The derby is always a special game, and tonight was no different. There was a lot of tension, at times too much, something which we struggled to deal with.

“The match lacked fluency, and we could not put many passes together throughout. We also failed to capitalise on their mistakes, and this was very disappointing,” he added.

The standings have generally not had an impact on the final result of a derby in the past, and this was reinforced again tonight, as heading into the round, Lazio were in fifth, whilst the Giallorossi were in a dismal 17th position.

Rossi felt that his side were as good as the Giallorossi on the night, and so he is bitterly disappointed with the final result.

“We have to evaluate what we have done well so far, not only tonight, but also earlier in the season, and I’m sure that we will bounce back well next week,” he concluded.

The Biancocelesti remain in fifth spot, however they are now five points off the pace set by Inter Milan.

I don't agree with both of you, the tridente will only work if we have midds like Ballak, Lampard, Gerrard.......But we have Brocchi , Ledesma and Mauri so it's totally Rossi's fault. I don't like using experiments on a derby match. Tridente didn't worked and I'll tell you why. Rocchi didn't get many balls, Pandev is not worth in that position (see the difference when he luckily find in front of the goal) and Zarate, well Zarate was ok. I think he should use Zarate as a winger and Pan-Roc in the att and if things don't work put Zarate with them. One more thing about tridente, in a case that we lose (like this) there is not too much option for a quality sub (Inzagi desperate move, Mehni- this kid don't have any footbal talent). Me personally can't settle with these lose, Napoli Udine Viola all lose so we only need to take even a point and our job will be done, but we don't lose nor win something. Just want to see is Rossi will still experimenting coz u know there a lot of good coaches out there .
