Any predictions on the formation?  From what I've read on Lazialita the practise matches seem to suggest (rightly or wrongly) that this is what Reja will go with...

Muslera

Biava, Dias, Radu

Lichtsteiner, Matuzalem, Brocchi, Del Nero

Hernanes, Zarate

Floccari

I can understand why he would pick Brocchi for this potentially tough away game, you want a ball winner and fighter and Ledesma doesn't really fit the bill. I am surprised that Reja favours Matuzalem at the registra but that is what I have read. Del Nero is the only real alternative to Garrido who is currently injured (for this weekend at least).  What I don't get is why he'd select Biava over Stendardo, it might just be a positional thing because Willy seems a much better central defender and he can score.  Apparently Hernanes and Zarate have been inseparable in training...young love..!

DelNero starting is a joke, in the 3 years he's been with the team he hasn't proven to be in the starting 11. He's one of the big question marks as to how he hasn't been sold to Serie C as of yet and the same goes for Biava who is was purchased in what I think in desperation and should be on the bench permanently. Not sure where you got that formation from, but if that is the lineup Reja is going with, then I have lost faith in him.. cuz that is one sad lineup.

Lazio have a reputation to redeem and I really hope hernanes is the missing link because the rest of that lineup isn't different than the Lazio we saw lose most of the season and beating micky mouse teams doesn't exactly make me feel confident in this team or the coach.

Samp are clearly favorites and have had a great season last year despite us beating them in the coppa italia (thanks to muslera).

In the league we drew them 1-1 the first game and then they beat us 2-1 the second.

That whole 3 line defense is stupid as our defenders aren't exactly world class. We need to play conservative and stick to the basic 4-4-2 or the 4-3-1-2 alla Delio.

I personally would even go with this formation:

             muslera

lich - stendardo - radu - garrido

           ledesma

foggia - matuzalem - brocchi

              hernanes
zarate                      floccari

Regardless this will be a tough game but we have to start on the right foot this time and be able to contend with the big boys instead of being a scavenger of points.

I'm very keen to get this new season going! Frankly I don't believe it can be any worse than last year, but at least the spring was brilliant.

I'm hoping for this XI:

Muslera

Stendardo Dias Radu

Lichtsteiner Ledesma Bresciano Garrido

Hernanes Zárate

Floccari

Forza

as much as I would like use to be able to play 12 on 11 against samp  I'll assume matuzalem was a typo. I like the formation but Reja has other plans, namely 3-4-2-1 and 3-4-1-2. with that formation Foggia will have to sub, at best. the line up that Massi posted is probably more truth than lies. with the injury(lack of mach fitness) to garrido, Del Nero might really get the nod  If this is the case, I have to ask. why did we off load Zauri?

I like your formation

While the spring was an improvement we just happend to do what we couldn't in the first half as i've said before, which was scrounge points off weak teams. I do feel we will see a better season this year as things couldn't possibly be worse than last year (or at least i'd hope so).

I cannot wait to watch this game on my new 47 inch flatscreen.

LOL .. i like roslagens formation. Although with mines, i would simply remove ledesma and have him sub in for matuzalem or vice versa.

Zauri needed to vattene. But that doesn't make excuses for Del Nero. Unfortunately, yes, your right about Garrido, there's, I think, a thigh injury there, and a fitness issue. Simply put there is no other option BUT Del Nero. Yes my heart sank a bit when I read this news but it's only really getting concerned about if Garrido is fit and raring to go and Reja sticks with Del Nero... for now let's just hope Samp leave attacking down our right flank alone

Btw apparantly the gentleman Cavanda will be the back up for Del Nero. We obviously haven't seen this kid much yet apart from at home to Levski last year so who the fuck knows what to think about that.

Only one day to match!!! Bookies do not give us even a little chance to pass in any European competition, but I believe we can do that and we will prove that there is one more serious team in calcio. I believe in our guys.

Its always interesting to look at what the bookies think, but a the odds for us will be long mainly because we have not got into the top ten for the last three seasons. We've got a better chance of that this season but Europe will still be very difficult, and a major achievement if it does happen, because of the depth of the division. For me, Genoa, Palermo, Napoli, Fiorentina, Parma, Samp and ourselves all have a shot at Europa League.

Looks like it'll be 3-4-2-1

                                     Muslera
                               Biava, Dias, Radu
              Lichtsteiner, Ledesma, Matuzalem, Del Nero
                             Hernanes, Zarate
                                     Floccari
Considering injuries, not bad. But I'd feel better if Biava was on the bench.

^ There's something about one up front that I'm not exactly thrilled with. As Lazio365 said a while ago, when we come up against the top sides, will it be enough? I personally don't see what the problem would be just having Hernanes in that position and moving MZ up front. It strikes me as bizarre this system because presumably when we get Roque it will be him, Floccari, and Rocchi all vying for that ONE as the striker.

Agreed. Biava is our worst player on the field ATM. I really hope we can get someone in the last few days of mercato.

Since Garrido has small injury, Del Nero looks like smart choice. Yeah, I know he sucks but hey the moron sold the only decent replacement on that side. Cavanda is maybe talented and all but to put him in the first game of the season is not quite smart. Although in the later stages I would surely want to see some youngsters on the field.

Apparently Biava is playing as he has the most experience of playing in a 3 man defence (from his Genoa days?).  I don't like him but hopefully as a unit he will gel with Dias and Radu.

Fucking hate Biava. Seeing him on the field makes me so angry .. as much as the fact that lotito is a fucking merdista. We should be going full tilt on getting lugano and forget about RSC, he's just another signing like bresciano, not even worth celebrating and we need some better talent on the back line.

really do have to agree, now with Lugano a real possibility. I can easly do with out RSC(given the formation especially) Dias-Lugano-Radu at the back would be a formidable, or Stendardo for Dias as I know how much people hate Dias.
