Bari? That place scares the crap out of me. There are four extremely mysterious themes that makes that place so funny.

1, Lavezzi scored two goals in the same match there
2, They used to have shitty Swedish nobody Daniel Andersson as their skipper
3, Antonio Cassamerda is born there
4, Some dude decided on spending 6.5 Ł on bringing David Platt there

That is enough to assure that anything can happen when being there. Last year we lost 2-0 during the fantastic, ingenious and top-notch coach Ballamerda

But now,  is leading the entire league after six matches, with Hernanes so far reminding me of Verón when coming here. The bad thing though is that we seem completely dependant on Hernanes' involvement in order for something to happen offensively. Therefore, our chance of taking three points at San Nicola rests heavily on Hernanes' shoulders. On the other hand, we're not the only team completely dependent on a solitary player. I mean, who'd fancied Juventus' attack without Krasić and what about Samp without Cassamerda? As long as he is kept fit, Hernanes can really help us this season. My fingers are crossed indeed...

What to watch out for in Bari's line-up? I think Almirón is a fabulous and underrated as a midfielder, and most certainly would've been a better deal instead of Matuzalém at the time. At his age, he really should play in a bigger club. Nobody can deny Barreto's ability either. Apart from that, they work as a team, just like our team since Reja got into charge.

Another clean sheet would be REALLY nice, but I don't want to bet my bank balance on us winning this one. I honestly believe it'll result in a dire 0-0 draw, but this is one of the matches where a win would make a big difference when the season is summed up. My hopes and prayers are for La Profeta to fire a rocket from long range so we can depart with a 1-0 victory and cross this fixture of our list. Bari at San Nicola is always a pain in the ass, but the team looks extremely stable atm, so a defeat would be absolutely unacceptable.

Stats:
2009/10:
Bari-Lazio 2-0 (1-0)
1-0 Barreto (11)
2-0 Riccardo Meggiorini (89)

Lazio-Bari 0-2 (0-0)
0-1 Sergio Almirón (51)
0-2 Edgar Álvarez (64)

2000/01:
Bari-Lazio 1-2 (0-1)
0-1 Siniša Mihajlović (41)
0-2 Fabrizio Ravanelli (64)
1-2 Daniel Andersson (84 pen)

Lazio-Bari 2-0 (2-0)
1-0 Juan Sebastián Verón (25)
2-0 Juan Sebastián Verón (41)

1999/00:
Bari-Lazio 0-0

Lazio-Bari 3-1 (3-1)
1-0 Siniša Mihajlović (2 pen)
2-0 Marcelo Salas (39)
2-1 Gionatha Spinesi (42)
3-1 Pavel Nedvěd (43)

1998/99:
Lazio-Bari 0-0

Bari-Lazio 1-3 (0-2)
0-1 Attilio Lombardo (21)
0-2 Christian Vieri (38)
1-2 Marcelo Salas (73 OG)
1-3 Christian Vieri (87)

1997/98:
Lazio-Bari 3-2 (1-0)
1-0 Pavel Nedvěd (5)
1-1 Giorgio Venturin (48 OG)
1-2 Roberto Ripa (61)
2-2 Giuseppe Signori (90 + 1)
3-2 Pavel Nedvěd (90 + 4)

Bari-Lazio 0-2 (0-1)
0-1 Vladimir Jugović (10 pen)
0-2 Roberto Rambaudi (90 + 1)

That means 20 points from the last 10 league fixtures with Bari with a 6-2-2 15-9 table in our favour

the only games of any relevance are last years. both teams have changed in almost every way since 2000, but thanks for the memories

Bari at home will be a though game. they have a good atmosphere, and an opposing counter attack headed by a great striker in Barreto. they are a team that week in and week out seem to shut down attackers (at home at least). they have only let in 1 goal in three games at home. so we will have our work cut out for us. if we concede at any time, we will have a herculean task to get any points. or better put, a Hernanean task as our Swedish friend has already mentioned.

I want this win more than almost any other ( being the exception) however a low scoring draw is much more likely, and will not be an utter disappointment away. however at the Olimpico, I will settle for nothing short of the full 3 points.

Good job Jesper, very entertaining

I fully expect us to lose this game. A win is out of the question for me. Most don't come away from the SN with anything at all as Lazio365 said a while ago. Not just Barreto, but Bari play some of the best football in the division, far far better then Lazio have for many a year, since the likes of 3-0 at home to Fiorentina under Rossi, practically.

The reason I think like that is because I really, really want to believe this is a special Lazio team, and it will be a special Lazio year, but I  have instincts that do not see it at all. IF however we can win in Bari and Cagliari at home then I'll start to believe. But upon reflection during the international break, before and after we got slayed by the Samurai, I came to the conclusion that, actually, what have we acheived that is actually that stunning?!

- Victory away to Fiorentina? Palermo did the same with the same score-line no less.
- At homes to Brescia? How many times are Brescia going to win away from home all season? Oh but they..
- Winning in Verona? Yeah they managed that too.
- Drawing at home to Milan? Cesena managed to win - like we could have done if we truly tried it (after all, it's only as of the last round they have strung wins  back to back)

To be honest the thing that is most special for me is the spirit Reja has instilled in the group. But I still can't help feel that the central defensive pairing are moments away from regular disaster, that Mauri will revert back to type, and that when Hernanes disappears from games (like he often tends to) we will struggle to create chances, particuarly if/when the old Mauri returns.

Still, the only thing that can prove me wrong is for them to do so on the pitch. Forza Lazio.

Most teams that go to Bari this season will either loose or at best pick up a point. Anything taken from this match can be, on the face of it, considered a good result. Bari are a good side, play some nice football and have adapted, so far, to loosing a very good central defesive pairing. Still, it will be a test for them to rather than the limp and lifeless display that we gave in that ground last season I feel. A point here and a win against Cagliari would set us up nicely for the difficult double header away at Palermo and then at home to Roma. After these four games I think we will know what type of season we will be in for.

Bari will be difficult place to play well. its not just Barreto who we must watch but deliveries to him thru Langella and Almiron who push up the park.

Alvarez is also very fast on the wings and if have a good day,can out run our wing backs on turn. Also they have Pulzetti on loan, who has positions of danger at moments last season with Livorno, but obviously fairly inconsistent player i think.havent seen too much from him with Bari.

..saying this also i think we have the quality to match this with Hernanes,Floccari,Mauri and Bresc.

Stadio San Nicola - as spectacle stadium as it is to play vs Bari at they're home...a definette away trip of away trips.

Normally i would expect us to beat a steamroll this team. But judging by the fact that they've had a pretty impressive season so far themselves this is definately going to be a tough match. I'm not feeling too confident in this game for some reason. I really hope our winless streak doesn't end because of fucking Bari of all teams.

I hope we can hang on to the top spot and keep seeing the merde lose. I want us to reach January with complete confidence this team has made a 180 and we are ready to take on anybody.

Reja is testing a 4-2-3-1 with Maurito, Mauri and Hernandes behind Flocc. Could be a wild game.

Ridiculous. Of all the games to keep it tight - not Brescia at home, for heavens sake, but for Bari away. I'm happy to eat my words if it ends up working, though.

It is hard to question Reja's formation choices, but again with Zatrate back and to the side! haven't we seen this before? with Bari's tight effective shut down game I fully expect to see a Zarate flop this game with him trying to break through 2 or 3 defenders to get with in scoring distance

with 4-2-3-1 I guess we will be playing Ledesma and Brocchi as the 2 defensive midfielders. I have a feeling the game may come down to them anticipating and being able to stop the the counter attack.

I will be fully convinced that we have a good team if and only if we get at least 4 points out of the next two games.
