Not many would have predicted this fixture to have been an, almost, top of the table clash come week five but that is exactly the scenario presenting itself come Sunday afternoon at the Stadio Olimpico as we take on the Rondinelle. Brescia have begun their 21st season in the top division in some style, beating Palermo, Roma and Chievo away to take themselves into fourth spot, illustraiting that they should provide a stern test on match day five. And yet that comes as no surprise given the competitive nature of Serie A at the moment, where five points currently separates 1st from 19th.

Nonetheless, from our viewpoint anything less that three points here would be disappointing given the strong displays we have given of late, with even a draw against Milan being seen as somewhat of a disappointment in light of how that game was going. Three points would certainly put us clear at the top of Serie A come Sunday afternoon, at least until the evening derby D'Italia. What more for motivation could the players ask for?

we come up against a strong Goalie in Matteo Sereni: 31 saves in 5 games with 1 Clean sheet already under his belt. only losing two games, the opener to Parma and their last to Bari, both away.(one mark in our favor) there victory over Roma was nice but showcased them as a strong counter attacking team. their non-possession style football has been our kryptonite in the past. they concede possession to most opponents by 12-16% and 24-39% to "bigger" opponents while still winning. Lazio will be planning on dictating the pace with our on form midfield. Brescia will be ready for this and confident that they can sit back and wait. so we will be dependent on Reja's plan, and defensive games man ship. he will also have to be ready to make decisive changes if Sereni and Brescia's defense proves to be too frustrating for our boys(ie. zarate).

a strong persistent attack will be the key to break them down. look for Hernanes to dictate the game again, hopefully it will not take till the second half. as always a goal early will make this one much easier. also hope that Zarate is told to stay in the box and does not try to break down Brescia's defense all by himself.

strikers to watch are Eder 1G: mostly for the hype and Brazilian gens, Caracciolo 2G-1A: a Brescia man for 84 games and has scored 46 goals(good even if its just B league), Alessandro Diamanti 1G-2A: he seems to produce goals and assists at a pretty consistent rate, netting 24 in 63 with Livorno, 7 in 28 at westham.

If Biava and Dias can continue their good form over the past 4 games I see no problem from any of these "B" strikers.

lets succeed where Merda failed, and stay at the top of Serie A

Sereni will probably get roundly booed by te olimpico after his antics at Lazio.

This will be a test as we are facing yet another team in good form atm, how we respond will be interesting. Really interested to see if Reja continues with the mini-turnover or not.

btw, not sure if i mentioned this earlier, but Sereni made headlines after the win against Palermo for dedicating the win to his children. It was a heart rendering moment in which he claimed  Your father loves you, he wants to see you, and it's not my choice not to ...etc. You may recall his ex wife is also his agent (talk about a mistake from the beginning) and she didn't exactly endear herself to the club or the fans when he was here. nyway sad stuff when a man's children are stripped from him, it's just plain stupid and could only be the product of our morally diseased western culture.

Looks like I will be in the city in time for this game if I can make it there on time. What's the best way to get a ticket at short notice ? Should'nt I be able to just buy it at the gate as its not a massive game. I have'nt had much chance to visit the stadio for the last few years so I guess its changed a bit.

Some good analysis so far - and in a way I'm glad to see Brescia doing so well. Despite what a certain Bulgarian ex member who has seemed to have worryingly disappeared for no reasons since July says, Brescia ARE a big club, and are without doubt a bigger club then all those that also came up from B, as well as bigger then some of those in A too. Take a look at some of their notable former players if you don't believe me.

As for the current crop, Diamanti is useful and Eder scored against Palermo, but I'm relieved we didn't get Eder because he hasen't scored since. Everybody else is average or mediocre, but they for very obvious reasons have a good team spirit and achieve some good results so far.

This is another kind of game that the classic inconsistent Lazio of recent years (at home to Lecce 1-1, Bologna 0-0) should be winning with relative comfort. Of course it seems we are better then that but what Rossi's Lazio taught me is not to take anything for granted.

This potentially could be a game that will officially put us top serie a provided juve beat inter and we win. As Lazio365 pointed out ..  Brescia should not be taken lightly as they beat Chievo, Palermo and la merda  so they are capable of surprises.

I have confidence in this re-born lazio to take 3 points this weekend.

It will be an interesting weekend as other games that i will keep an eye on are:

merda - napoli (hoping napoli win, f**K the merda)
inter - juve (hope juve wins to put us officially on top of the table)
fiorentina - palermo (dont really care who wins, but should be an even battle)

FORZA LAZIO!

Its been mentioned that this is the type of game that we would have slipped up in in seasons gone by. I agree, and the proof of that is shown in the last two seasons where good starts have either deteriorated into a midtable campaign or worse as we saw last season. Whatsmore, our home form, last year especially, was shambolic. Its a big big game for this reason alone, and it should be treated a such from minute one.

I found these instructions elsewhere. Hopefully this helps.

Tickets for "open" matches will be on sale at all Lazio Style and Lottomatica shops in the region. You will need an ID and need to pay cash. We recommend Lazio Style, at Via Calderini, really close to the Olympic stadium, where you'll find ticket even at the match-day. To get to Via Calderini the easiest way is to catch the underground "Metro A" to "Flaminio". From there, catch the bus (or the tram) number 2 heading to Piazza Mancini, and get off at the very final stop. Lazio Style is 300 meters from Piazza Mancini. You can also buy the ticket online through Listicket (see Lazio website), although only Tribuna tickets will be on sale there.

I like the idea of the competition that is going on between all our striker snow. Each of them with a goal to their name means that they will be fighting for a spot.

We can't let our undefeated streak end against a team like Brescia. We need to make up for last season and gain our good name back and the credibility that went down the toilet over the last year and a half.

both teams have 3 wins to their name. We need to take them out! 3 points no less.

PROBABLE FORMATION:

LAZIO (4-3-1-2): 86 Muslera; 2 Lichtsteiner, 20 Biava, 3 Dias, 26 Radu; 32 Brocchi, 24 Ledesma, 6 Mauri; 8 Hernanes; 10 Zarate, 22 Floccari

It has been a long week waiting for another win. Brescia are not just a door mat we can trample on but I do not see any a reason why we should settle for anything less than a win. With a little help from Juve we could take the lead in the championship as well.

I hope, crave and demand a victory, but I'm afraid we'll see a typical Lazio reaction to some splendid games, resulting in a 1-1 tie, with Éder equalising on stoppage time...

That said, 2-0 with Zárate and Floccari on the scoresheet would be fantastic!

Posting scoring predictions in the match thread is stupid, it tempts fate... so please don't bother people?!?!

Forza Lazio.

Btw, both teams playing the exact same system, 4-3-1-2. So it really is all about quality of performance today.Whoever performs the best will probably win.
