Thank the gods for fortuitously placed Wednesday games! Call it hair of a dog, but after a rather poor loss on the weekend, it's nice to simply get back at it. But before we get too excited about visiting lowly Cesena, let's all remember that they have had some admirable results, the best of which is a home win against AC Milan early on in the season. Nevertheless, it will be a highly anticipated match by Biancocelesti who are certainly wondering how this team will respond to a poor showing and a loss. One hopes, it will be the same way they did after losing the opening match to Samp.
With an early match at home to Napoli following on Sunday, Reja will likely look to rest some key players in a mini-turnover, particularly in the midfield.

Thank god for the wednesday game indeed. It's not easy to get over a derby defeat, but it has to be put into a context. That context for the players is that we didn't get three points, but there are three more on offer here. Cesena did beat Milan, and deservedly so. But their honeymoon period in Serie A is over, with their last win being in early September against a travel sick Lecce. What worries me a bit, is that soon these clubs at the bottom will start to play desperate and become uncomfortable opposition to play against. However, we've been almost impeccable on the road this year against pretty decent teams and need to continue to be here so we don't undo the great work done so far. Milan aside mid week all the rest of the top five are on the road so a win could open a more of a gap against the rest.

We need to take 3 points to home and hope that teams who are following us drop points.

And I think that shows the difference between this season and last, so far. Last season we spent most our time hoping the likes of Siena, Catania, Atalanta etc dropped points. This season, it's Inter, Juve, Milan and Napoli instead at the moment. Long may that continue.

This should by all means be the first guaranteed/safe/easy win type of game this season, I think. Perhaps resting some of the key players could become a minor issue but otherwise I expect us to bounce back from the bitter Derby defeat like we did after the Sampdoria game. No reason why we should not take three points from this game, is there. Cesena have had their moments but as Lazio365 mentions they are in the place where they pretty much belong now.

we should absolutely get nothing but 3 points from this game and deliver a beating to cessena. We need to rest our players for the weekend match against Napoli who i think we MUST beat. I would go as far as sitting hernanes in this game as putting in matuzalem/bresciano instead. Give playing time to Cavanda, Gonzales, Garrido (where is this guy), Kozak .. depending on how perform then bring in the big guns if neccessary. I think Cessena fluked against milan and with the draw against the merda. We need to put them in their place wednesday.
Trying to find light on the weekends loss, maybe it will fuel them to try harder and realize their mistakes for the next matches. There is definately a lot to chew on for reja and the team and they need to reflect and regroup.
Napoli will be facing cagliari .. which should be a tougher game for them wednesday. I wouldn't be surprised if they also rest their elite for the weekends match.

Yes, Hernanes could probably rest for this game but how about Brocchi. He had a raging performance on Sunday. I believe his fury will be crucial against Napoli on Sunday and could probably use some rest. Also, it looks like it is back to 4-2-3-1 against Cesena and I do not know how many bench warmers you can fit to that if Hernanes and Brocchi or Ledesma are resting.

I agree, Brocchi should probably be rested for this one, with likely Matuzalem coming in for him. Still, we should play Hernanes here, at least until half time depending upon how the game goes. It's not like we've been playing three games a week all that much and this is a must win one for me.

^^ Hernanes must absolutely be rested. There's been lots of mention in the Italian press about the fact that he needs a break. Mainly because of the fact that coming from Brazil straight to Lazio at the time he did meant no break for him at all. Brocchi should also make way to Matu in this one and I think I might even consider starting Rocchi for Floccari. But we can't underestimate Cesebna to the point of disrespecting them as adversaries. A full turnover is too much imo.

a good staring line up for this game would be
Muslera(of course) Cavanda- Biavi-Radu -Garrido Ledesma - Mutezlem Zarate - Foggia - Mauri Rocchi
D:Lich, and Dias could use a break. also would like to see Radu tried out in center (redundant I know) since hes been pretty useless on the left. give Garrido a chance. M:Hernanes and Brocchi need a break. Mutezlem has been acceptable when he plays. Foggia wasnt half bad when he came in the second half this weekend. F:Rocchi got a lot of heat for his poor performance this weekend, but I think he deserves another go. the whole team played like shit you cant blame it all on Rocchi.
we really need a win here to bounce back, so maybe we shouldn't make all of those changes, but certainly some change should be made to rest key players for the Napoli game.

We should rest our players but we must not underestimate Cessena. Those 3 points aren't granted we must fight for them. I pretty much agree with DeBez formation. I would consider taking Bresciano and Kozak also, give some brake to Ledesma and Mauri. Heads up, we are first. FORZA LAZIO

If there is a time to rest him, then I accept that it would be better to see him rested against Cesena than Napoli. Nonetheless I find all this talk generally about him needing a break after the games he played in Brazil rather redundant to be honest given that he played only 9 games, and had a month off at the world cup when their league shut down. But, that being said, if he is genuinly tired, which seems distinctly possible given that he seems unable to play 90 minutes, then it would be the right thing to do. Rocchi for Floccari? Perhaps 45 minutes each with 90 for Zarate to freshen up the forward line. See if Zarate can do something here.
