No rest for the wicked. After a relatively unruffled win over Fiorentina we face our strongest opponent so far. Sod the pre-match analysis and technical issues, Milan are one of the most retarded teams in the league and have been somewhat inconsistent lately so I say we go for a win. Admittedly, if Milan do find their stride against us it will be very, very difficult. Then, I will be satisfied with a draw. Especially if it takes a few goals to score.

Forza Lazio!

There will be at least 40,000 at Olimpico for this match. Hopefully, this eagle, literal and figurative will fly. A win in this game would certainly be one hell of a statement. Realistically, I want to see the same level of play from the first three games, and really even a tie would be good. Forza Lazio!

Milan is a team that has our card. We've managed to tie them at best and get the occasional humiliation in the last few years. Hopefully losing to cessena and tying catania is hopefully a pattern that will continue against us as well. They will be desperate to win on Wednesday and I will take a draw against a desperate milan. Floccari is back for this game and will be starting alongside Zarate who hopefully finds his form (how many times have we said this .. 100 ?) .. or better yet scores a goal which I can't remember the last time he has.

Milan with all their inconsistency are impossible to predict. They can either be completely shit or completely in form. Only God knows what formation Reja will use for this game. He changes his formation more than a 10 yr old playing fifa.

Milan is the one team I dread playing each season, regardless of their team. Aside from our Coppa Italia win at the San Siro a couple of years ago our form against them has been poor. (Even worse than against Inter, Juve or Roma).  I get the feeling that Milan always fancy their chances against us and we have a go but come unstuck against superior firepower.  I really hope that if we can dominate the midfield (where we have always struggled against Milan) then we have a chance, I just hope sloppy defending doesn't give them an early goal. I think Zarate might start alongside Floccari which might mean Mauri, Hernanes, Brocchi and Ledesma in midfield if Reja is being brave (I hope he is).

Our record is dreadful against Milan in the recent years. No matter how poor they are, somehow they manage to pull a strong team against us. Hopefully this is not the case, we are compareably well this year, with the result against Fiorentina the players should be confident but Milan with their sharp attackers and we on the other side with the shaky defense, I think it's going to be very tough. I am totally against Zarate as a starter, Rocchi-Floccari, no need to risk with that twat.

Theo's preferred lineup:

                                       Muslera
                                     Radu  Stendardo

                        Lichsteiner                            Ledesma
                        Brocchi                                 Hernanes
                        Bresciano                              Floccari
                        Mauri                                    Rocchi

That's it. Radu and Stendardo in central defence to combat Milan's predictable through the middle play. Everybody else play on the wing attacking shitty Antonini and Bonera. Easy win. Job done. Go home.

I expect this Milan side, once it clicks into gear, to be right up at the top of the table come the seasons end. But, they have not clicked into gear yet at all, as anyone who saw them play Catania or Auxerre, and of course Cesena, can testify. Theres a chance to do well here but given the dismal record that others point out, who knows. The last time we beat them at home, if memory serves in Serie A, was in the 1997-1998 season. Far too long ago.

Interesting that Milan have lost their last 4 away games in Serie A (Cesena, Samp, Palermo and Genoa) with their last win 3-2 at Cagliari on April 3rd.

Here's hoping....

Im not entirely against zarate starting this game. Rocchi was not extremly effective last game IMO. more to the point he played this weekend, and will be better used as a sub on short rest. zarate has a lot to prove, and against a team that will be pushing he should get a few good chances. I think against lesser teams zarate should not play(till he shows some form), but when playing teams that are going for the win put him in. he needs space on the counter attack and against samp and bologna it wasnt there and he played bad.whats the point of having him if hes going to ride the bench. if he plays well let him stay for 90, if he doesnt switch him out for Rocchi befor 60. if we are not going to give him more than one or two games to get back into form, why the fuck didnt we just trade him.

forza lazio e forza zarate!!!  prove them wrong kid.

I tend to agree about Zarate, he isn't great against teams that sit back and defend because he just tries to dribble through too many players and inevitably gets tackled. One of his best games and goals was that counter attack away to Milan 2 years ago, sensational. You never know what Milan defence will turn up, on paper Nesta and Silva are great but Bonera and Antonini are not so who knows.  For all you Dias haters out there (and I know there are a few) he has the best statistics of any defender in Serie A for passes complete (102 in 3 games) and although he has lost the ball 22 times he has recovered it 55 times. I think people are harsh on him because he looks like an ugly fuck who should be playing for
