positive thing about the game was that Tuia, Perpetuini and Kozak were on the bench. I believe this is a sign that in the coming matches in the league we will see some young players get their first chance.

Yes, I agree, and I still don't have a clue why Rossi didn't play them against Atalanta. Why not give the kids a shot against Atalanta after we've played three weeks of gruelling matches and many of our starters are physiclly and emotionally spent. Does anyone think these young guys, starting their first games at home would'nt have played with a hell of a lot more determination than the half hearted play we saw on Sunday? I think that's the kind of strategy a coach should come up with, and a coach should also find a way to bring young guys into the team in appropriate games (i.e. vs. Atalanta on a Sunday after our starters played on Wednesday vs. Juve and four days earlier vs. Genoa.....hmmmmmm.  We talk about what a shame it was to lose Macheda, but under Rossi, the 17 year old would be lucky to sit on the bench a game or two, but not play. Oh, but we started Del Nero who hasn't played in a year - genius!

Lorenzo De Silvestri: Lazio Full Of Regrets
The Biancocelesti's hot streak ended at the weekend, much to the chagrin of their young full-back.
Lazio defender Lorenzo De Silvestri believes that the team are not able to remain consistent once they start performing well, and he pointed to last weekend's game against Atalanta as proof.

The Biancocelesti were coming off some excellent results in Serie A and the Coppa Italia, from which they eliminated Juventus recently, but then suffered an unexpected home defeat to the Bergamaschi.

“In the dressing room we were speaking about our regret in obtaining nice wins and then losing the grip,” declared De Silvestri to Sky.

“However, our second half was positive, even though we did not manage to equalise. Unfortunately, we don’t find the mental balance in facing games in the same way.

“However, the league position is good, but we shall try to obtain points again from Sunday in Milan against Inter, then we shall try to win the Coppa Italia at the Olimpico stadium in front of our fans. We shall do our best.”

Lazio are currently in ninth place with 49 points, five points away from a Europa League spot with five games remaining.

Yeah, we played 3 tough matches and I agree that we should rest some of our permanent starters. This would be also chance for youngs who could want to prove theirselves but Rossi didnt think this way. With this match, we dropped 5 points behind merda. 5 weeks left and tough oppenents we will face, I think we lost chance to push merda 7th. I hope cagliari or palermo can do it.

“However, the league position is good......

I dont agree with De Silvestri at this point. What does he mean when saying that our position is good? Is it joke?

This team isn't in where it is supposed to be. We played lower than what we could play. I cant accept this. This team, at least, can force CL spot or 6th. Other positions are, I tink, proof of failure.

This team showed us how they can play when they are good. Of course, sometimes unexpected lose can be acceptable for the sake great games or facts of football, but when I am saying sometimes, I mean 1 or 2 or 3 games. However, I cant remember how many times we lost matches against teams we should have beaten.

You should know players and coaches will always sound optimistic and confident even when they are not.

Yeah, I know that, but, what if he didnt say that. There is no reason to say it in any case.

The league position is not good at all. Most of the time the top three spaces will be filled by Juve, Milan, Inter in no particular order, after that Lazio, Fiorentina and unfortunatley Rioma will be / should be following such is the nature and history of these clubs. I have to say i find it refreshing in a league context that Cagliari, Palermo and Genoa are handing out lessons to the bigger teams around the league this season but Lazio should be above them in the standings, we should always expect top six but then again I guess Sampdoria and Napoli would think the same also and that is a sign that the league is getting tougher and tougher.

^^^ when you think of the points we just threw away with lackluster andd uninspired play....well it makes you sick. Even if we'd won two games aginst the likes of Chievo, Siena, Atalanta, Bologna, Catania - just six points, we're a point ahead of the pepperones. i'm trying to be positive and say, it's a young team and taking every game seriously is a mark of maturity and professionalism.

This is exactly what kills me...even if we managed to tie two of those bottom table teams we would be within 3 points.  Unbelievable how this season played out, makes me even more nervous for the Coppa final, I pray to God it doesn't become another huge missed opportunity.
