The last time we met with Bari at the Stadio San Nicola both Hernanes and Floccari scored for us. At the time Lazio were sitting comfortably in 1st place. Still in a decent CL spot in the table, hopefully we grab 3 points to bring us closer to a dream of making Champions League which has now become a close battle between the top 8 teams who are marginally close.

Although no great new talents were bought during mercato it looks like talent was found recently just sitting on the bench. Since the inclusion of Kozak and Gonzalez the team has found two more players that are dependable and earning starting spots.

Bari are sitting at the bottom of the table with only 15 points and surely heading back where they came from. Although Lazio have seem a little less inspired then the beginning of the season I think fans will expect nothing short of 3 points along with a convincing victory.

Last year's match at home to Bari was one of the darkest days of last season. We must avenge it. Probably the most indicative image of that day:

If we will get 7 points on the next 3 games (Bari, Cagliari, Palermo), we will prepare for the derby calmly.
The next game with Bari is a MUST WIN match...worthy of note: in this season we have problem with such matches...

Bari are in total freefall, winless since their derby win against Lecce in early January. This should end with a win given that Bari can barely score and barely stop loosing.

One thing I'd like to see is us to actually get more than 20,000 fans in the stadium given that we are in 3rd after all, but that seems doubtful give the ultras are still on strike.

Indeed, Bari are the antithesis of their last season's incarnation. A whopping FIFTEEN points and THREE wins all season. They have scored 14 goals and conceded 39. There is absolutely no excuse to not win this game. Reja himself has said as much.

I have one careful little wish too: we have not won a single game this season with a three goal margin and surely the time would be now if ever.

i'd like to see them smash a team with a 3+ goal margin too. A game that can spark some confidence in the players and the fans as well.

This season is far from over, but I hope we can prove that we can beat and keep up with the so-called "big clubs" in serie a.

It's sad that the fans are having a strike when the team is having such a great stadium .. i wish i had the privilege to be able to watch these games live.

We have had some bad results against such teams. Cesena, Lecce, Chievo, Catania-all of them managed to steal a point or three from us. So I am going to be a little cautious. No excuses if we fail this one, but I am not excluding it as we have been witnesses to unexpected results against teams alike.

I understand what you are saying Arm but I would not count Chievo and Catania in with Cesena and Lecce. There was always a chance with the two former teams that they might be able to shut us down and they did. I remember being cautious before the Catania game especially and they did play really well against us and deserved their point. Against the latter two we simply sucked. The Cesena game was perhaps the biggest blunder of this season.

So I do not expect us to suck this weekend. Without wanting to sound arrogant, Bari are fukking crap as insinuated before by myself and Lazio365, and even if we should struggle to create chances and finish them I flat out refuse to consider any other options than taking three points from this game.

I agree, chievo beat Napoli only weeks ago.

This game is the perfect setup for an ass whooping, i mean even 1-0 would make me think we need to rethink things .. its at home .. against the last place team who really sucks. Time for a thrashing!

Ya we should dominate this match. However, when the derby comes we will probably still be in the CL race. The derby means everything this time around. Roma has fucked us the last couple times and sent us on a downhill spiral. We need a win this time around. I believe that is key to our CL ambitions. First though, we need to take care of business in the next couple of fixtures.

We need to win if there is any hope of nourishing our European ambitions. It 's always nice to win by a big margin, but ultimately that only matters to me in the derby, when we don't just want to win, we'd like to anihilate.

Inter just won yesterday, made us dropped to the fourth place. Udinese keeps tailing. It's a must win for us to stay in CL spot.

^^ We knew we weren't going to steal a spot from Inter. We're looking at competing with Juve, Palermo, Naples, pepperones and now Udinese for those othger two spots.

Reja is most likely going to start floccari and kozak up front which to me sounds like the best combo we have since they are both our top scorers. Zarate has lost his starting place on the team and rightfully so. I think we should just convert him to a winger as he simply doesn't work as a striker.

I agree, juve, napoli and udinese are our competition if we ever plan on making CL.

Last year we've done poorly against these smaller teams but i'm hoping that we've learned our lessons and will approach every game with the same determination.

Even though we've been sitting high on the table, press isn't really favoring lazio much to do anything - but what else is new ? I'm hoping Reja is fueled as well from the negative press we've been getting to get the team to perform as they did at the start of the season.

weather or not zarate doesnt work as a striker is one thing, but he most certainly has no potential as a winger. just about every game he has played this position he has been completely useless, at least as a striker he has had some success.

the last meeting this fixture was about revenging two heart breaking defeats from last season. this time not so much, It feels more business as usual. still very much a must win (arent they all), but I just dont feel the rage as much. though a loss here would be more crushing than last seasons two losses combined. at least Bari were good last year
