This was just a shocking game but it's been coming.. we have been poor in almost every match since the beginning of december except in the coppa and we've been lucky to get away with it...Rossi doesn't see we need a defender because he's clueless we need someone solid and no nonsense to stop us leaking goals.. if we build a solid base at the back our strikers are good enough to push us forward (admittedly not on recent evidence but i do believe we have three of the best strikers in serie a) the rest of our team consistently under-performs and it is enough

The defense is absolutley horrible, they offer free headers to any crosses that come in and cagliari looked like the argentine national team cruising through.

Rossi is to blame again and though kolarov is not to blame the fact that an offensive side back is used when defence is our worst problem just shows that he does not know what to do.

They seem to be completley unpreparred for their matches and after going up 1-0 and fall apart like that CL is gone and Lotito needs to do something in this market.  Everything is not fine and the D and midfield have been glaring wounds for the past two years.

Teams will watch the videos and see the weaknesses and right now crosses into the box are #1 for any opposing teams.

Maybe Lazio is going  for a new patern here-lose(like a bunch of idiots ) from the weak teams and win the games against the strong one(our next matches-Samp,Milan,Viola)!Would that be nice(I mean about wining against the strong teams not to lose like a bunch...part)!?we will see...

Wow I just woke up to see this....what a way to ruin my day.  I dont think I would have survived watching this game...missing TWO penalties? 4-1 to Cagliari? in the Olimpico? What a disaster I dont even want to think about this game, at least we dont have to think about it all week and hopefully can beat Samp midweek to get us back on track....dont even know what else to say....

I was told as a child that if i have nothing good to say...don't say it.  Everyone's spoke for everyone today.  It just boggles my mind how the players don't get it!  We do!  To put the blame on anyone today is just wrong.  As a collective group this was now the worst performance i've seen all year.  Previously i felt it was the Atalanta game.  But after they smacked around Inter last week, that loss was lightened in my books.  Today just didn't make sense, not after the way the team played since coming back from holidays.

One thing I hope for on a technical side from the boys is.  Finding a suitable person with confidence to take penalties.  I never felt Rocchi should be taking penalties, as he doesn't strike them with assurance.  But when Zarate missed as well, I just feel all hope is lost with us and penalties.   Maybe Simone Inzaghi should start games from now on for that alone, b/c i remember he has a pretty good goal-to-penalty shot ratio.

As for the business end I can only pray that Delio Rossi's contact doesn't get renewed, b.c at this point its too late to fire him now.  We've all wanted him canned for a while it goes without saying.

The true positive thing from this game is now Lotito will feel the pressure to invest to appease the fans.    FUCK YOU LOTITO!

Post Match Comments:

Lazio 1-4 Cagliari

Delio Rossi: “It was a strange game, as after just five minutes we were 2-1 down. It all went wrong, especially in defence. All we can salvage from this game is the effort we put into fighting back.”

Massimiliano Allegri: “The hard work is paying off. The team is playing at a high level, but at the start things certainly weren't going that well. I must thank President Cellino for believing in me.”

As well as the defence being shit, the midfield could not play crisp passes on the ground to each other to give any of the strikers service. The ball was constantly in the air bouncing around nowhere. To be fair to pandev especially, he got no help at all.

The problem is not playing the same defense week in week out. Radu- Rozenhnal- Diakite- Lichtsteiner. The back four should not be altered in every game. I mean Radu and Kolarov just take turns playing. I wanna see us play a basic 4-4-2. With the defence mentioned above, Mauri and Foggia on the wings, Ledesma and Dabo in midfield and a Pandev - Rocchi attack. Zarate hasn't scored in ages and has been a little overhyped, fantastic player but his ego is starting to bother me. Bench him and he will return hungry to the field.

We cant just always blame the manage. Plain and simple the players didnt perform well. After this killing they should be kicked up the the bck side. Im sorry 2 say but if we dont start improving the only way 2 possibly qualify for europe is the coppa italia.  00

Really good point bro, forward and midfield line can be altered but defence line shouldnt be changed. But you should say this rossi, because he cant understand this.

just watched the highlights, and I know you cant get the full picture from them but fuck our defence should be blamed for this game.  The offence I guess can use the "unlucky" excuse but the defence looked fkin amateur on the goals.  Diakite was beaten HORRIBLY on one maybe two ( i cant bear to watch again) and as much potential as he has this has become to be a reoccuring thing for him on balls in the air.  I think we need the experience of Siviglia in the middle when he can play, at least until Lotito hopefully buys a central defender.  It actually hurt to watch the team let everyone down so badly in a game that we needed to and should have won; at home too while we have been in such good form its so heartbreaking.

I also agree with whoever said just play a 4-4-2, it seems like we try way too hard to work around these three strikers we have like they are the gods of our team, Mauri, Meghni, Ledesma have all been playing better in the middle and the trident just doesnt work.  Just because our strikers cry doesnt mean they all have to play every game start to finish.

I agree. I think we need to kill the trident and just go with the 4-4-2 formation. If zarate wants to complain then we should just move him to the midfield where I bet he would serve a better purpose. I don't remember feeling this shitty since after the derby. I feel the same frustration as the rest of you in searching for answers of how a team we had so much faith in look like a team from serie B.
