We face off against Catania this weekend except this time with possible new faces on the field and hopefully they can add some improvement to a team that's lost all credibility. This will be a pretty fair match as catania are also struggling at the bottom 3 points below us.

Catania will most likely be featuring Pavone (Real Betis) and Maxi Lopez (Gremio). Maxi was supposed to come Lazio as we all know, but thankfully the retard that runs Lazio probably botched the deal like the many others all year.

Catania is not to be underestimated since only recently they have games which include beating Juve 2-1, Bologna 1-0, Parma 3-1 and tieing Sampdoria and Udinese with a loss to Genoa (not in this order). Simply put .. this team can hold their own now .. and with reinforcements they cannot be taken lightly.

I really don't have any crazy expectations of the players we got, who let's face it were mostly bargain bin players AND as Theo put it ... genoa's scraps.

We always wanted 2 central mids and 2 central defenders .. well here they are. Golasa and Hitzperger can make up our central mid while Biava and Dias will occupy the central defense.

What I really want to see is Baretto since he was hyped up so much. I really hope this kid can score some goals cuz Zarate seems to be lacking in that department right now.

If we lose now with the new additions against catania this weekend then things will get very scary for us.

What can we expect in formation, most unlikely to feature all of them:

                     Muslera

Lichsteiner     Dias     Biava         Radu

Foggia       Golasa    Hitzperger     Kolarov

         Zarate                    Baretto

FORZA LAZIO!

a little hopeful, we would all like to see the new guys play. we should definitely see Hitzperger, Dias, and probably even Biava(maybe sub, no reason Radu shouldn't start) . I would like to say we will see Foggia (is he injured or not), but balla seems to forget about him game in game out. as for Baretto, though this would be the game to start him. I would like to see Rocchi get the start, and balla will probably put Cruz. If Floccari is ready no question zarate and him should start.

può il Lazio rimanere volo alto nel Serie A

Look interesting squad but we should put Stendador instead of Biava. He played quite good in recent games and no reason to kick him out of squad

Starting all of them at once would be risky since they haven't been tried yet, I'm sure he'll throw on some of them in the remaining minutes to test them out.

Even though Catania are facing relegation, their last games has showed that they won't give up just like that. They made some good purchases this mercato and those kids will want to secure place in the first team(tough with our defense ). The same matters with our team but I think that only starters from the first 11 will be the Hammer and Biava. Hammer coz we have shit mid, Goalsa is 18 so he probably will wait for a while. Biava on other hand is the only one with Serie A experience so he would start, I can bet that. Also don't think that Dias will get his debut, Baretto likewise.

We need this win more then ever, lets break the ice and start going for once.

I'm probably going to repeat myself but that's another must win game. This game is a tricky one and we have absolutely everything to lose so let's man up for once and show up with real motivation.

I couldnt watch the match due tolack of stream, none of them worked for me that night.

Honestly, I predicted that Catania would lose points against Udinese coz that type of team cant go well everytime. Ok nobody can deny their success but its time to lose for them I guess and win time for us. 1 point from Juve away game is good, btw, I didnt watch the match so maybe we played better and deserved I dont know.

I really have good feeling for this, we must stay in Serie A, there is where we belong to.

Sorry to steel your thunder Latius but I thought what with such a crucial game approaching, it warrented discussion right away.

Lazio face Catania at the weekend in a virtual 'six pointer' what with the two sides seperated in the table by all of two points. Indeed, a defeat to Catania at the weekend and positive results for Udinese and Livorno could see our glorious club fall into the dreaded relegation zone. Catania are a side growing in form under our old friend Sinisa Mihajlovic. He won't be out to do us any favours on Sunday though, and his side have been very decent of late. A home draw to Udinese at the weekend was preceeded by a thumping 3-0 win over Parma in which danger men Mascara, Martinez and Morimoto all hit the target. Before that, they registered a point in a solid performance away to Sampdoria.

As for us, its been dreadfully unambitious of late to say the least. The last two matches feel like four points lost, rather than two points gained and it is this kind of approach that is keeping us so close to danger. However, with Sergio Floccari set to return and Thomas Hitzelberger hopefully placed firmly in centre midfield some impetus may and hopefully will be given to the rest of the Lazio squad.

Last season: Lazio 1-0 Catania

Previous meeting this season: Catania 1-1 Lazio

Top scorers:
Lazio- Sergio Floccari - 7 goals (4 with Genoa)
Catania- Jorge Martinez - 7 goals

Forza Lazio, three points please.

@Lazio365

I merged your topic with the one I already started... mine got drowned out by all the mercato threads on every player.

But if I'm running late on starting one .. feel free to jump in... you gave a great synopsis.

Cheers!

Today at Formello Balls-ardini lunched 4-3-1-2 formation. Kolarov is moved to defense. Biava and Radu trained together as central defenders.
Injured: Matu, Brocchi, Foggia, Bizzarri, Del Nero, Dabo and Firmani. Golasa is also injured for two months.
Dias didn't train today and probably he lack fitness. Mainly coz Brasilian league started weeks ago.

Ledesma trained also but I don't know which one???

I believe that this is what we will get:

                      Muslera

   Lich       Biava      Stendardo        Radu

             Baronio    Hitz   Kolarov

                       Mauri

       Rocchi/Floccari      Zarate

It has been reported that Ledesma could well be re-integrated into the first 11 for the match away to Parma on Valentines Day. We'll see. The whole reason I wanted him to GTFO was because last season to call him lacklustre does the same amount of justice as to calling Baronio 'not exactly world class.'

Pavone misses out, he didn't make the deadline, but they didn't really need him because there's enough danger in Martinez, Morimoto and Mascara at any rate.

What's that other guy's name.. oh yeah, the king of the gypsies (or is he merely their puppeteer?) MAXI LOPEZ! Nothing to worry about there, infact he hardly touched the ball against Udinese. Perfect game for Dias-merda to play in because it'll take better players then Maxi for him to look shit.

Can't really comment anything else until I see the lineup - a win is necessary, but if we don't get it for whatever reason, I'd feel a lot less worse off if we actually had a desire to win... Hitzelsperger on the pitch should be able to get everybody up for it, but as we know, it's the touchline that's the problem.

Way to go.  I always support 4-3-1-2 for our kind of playing style (but it was Rossi's era).

Replacing Baronio with Ledesma would make it perfect.

I really hope this happens. We are holding good player out of the group while Baronio, Dabo, Firmani are getting a lot of playing time. Lotito better rethink the situation.
