  VS

Coincidentally it seems a lot of us have missed this game including myself. Seeing the score along was heart breaking but for those who watched it had to bare a rough 90 minutes of torture. I think this is one of those games that we want to sweep the memory under the carpet after a small but powerful sucessful streak including a win against Juve and Napoli. How we lost to Chievo is beyond anyone but it seems we always go back to the same conclusions when we lose ... our defense. Question is .. what were we complaining about last season .. defense!

However you can't entirely blame lack of success on defense since our strikers seemed to have not closed opportunities. I was hoping this would have been a game for Zarate to possibly up his tally and show the hope we all had in him... but nothing! I'm not crucifying him at all but it seems that all his goal scoring ability was drained at the beginning of the season.

Even though we really just move down a spot with 1 point below Palermo a win at the Olimpico could have put us en route to taking out our rivals... and a CL dream might have even popped into some of our heads again and restored the faith we had stronger at the beginning of the season. I think we got lucky that other teams within range tied or lost . but i'm sure we crave more.

This weekend we face Catania who despite their position on the table they are not to be underestimated. Led by a determined and focused Walter Zenga they seem to surprise every once in a while by taking out teams ahead of the table.

Hopefully players can return from injury with determination to improve the team and bring a new dynamic. I know I'd like to see more Mourad, and maybe Diakite back in defense.

I'll be back for more posts .. in the meantime FORZA LAZIO!  00 00 00

The thing I am afrad is that we can face the same situation. I mean after some good matches cagliari took an unexpected points and sampdoria as well. I know even to imagine is annoying but if it happens, honestly I wont be surprised totally. The all other match finished as we want except genoa and we couldnt use this chance well.

I expect two thing in this time, coach should be capable enough to motivate team well and in field, players should be aware of how things are going and take responsibility but it is up to player's characteristic on a large scale.

As to coach, during 5 match winnig period, I never change my mind, 4 or 5 matches dont make a season. Rossi is not a good tactician so the only thing I expect from him is to motivate team. Still I cant understand how we lost by conceding 3 goals from a team in relegation zone even in a home game.

The only thing I dont want to see is another unaccepted lose

The players have a week to recover from that debacle and pick themselves up for 3 points in catania. We must take 3 points here and the players have to be motivated for this performance. Anti-Roma is right tho, that this looks like the start of the cagliari crisis. Hopefully history does not repeat itself. After Cagliari we lost to an in form samp team. Catania have dangerous players and allways get a good crowd of around 20,000 at home so it will be hostile, but we won in Naples so we can win here.

Coming up after this is Siena i believe. We have a better team then both Catania and Siena so I fully expect us to get 6 points. Chievo game was one off i believe (but common, every team can have a shocking game, Juve lost to Cagliari at home fx), so our goal should still be Europe through the league. If Cribari doesn't want to stay he shouldn't play ever again for Lazio. Siviglia is crap so this is the game to give Diakite or Tuia a chance along with Rozehnal. Plus Rocchi should get 90 minutes, after two goals against Napoli starting him on the bench against Chievo was a mistake.

lazio really got lucky in the fact that teams ahead liek roma fiorentina who will probably have a hnigher chance at 4th didnt really jump ahead of lazio. many of you's are looking at a uefa spot, but that seems about right where were heading since we may win coppa italia and will probably grab mid upper table. i am shooting for the stars and saying we should be trying for champions league. We are 5 points behind roma and fiorentina who will in the end be the runners for 4th so we should be concerned keeping close to them. 5 points still isnt much considering we have 10 more games to play. If we can win Roma and Geneo next month and grab a decent amount of points until then, we should be up there for champions league. We have the quality to beat catania and siena and then its roma and genoa which will determine our push for which uefa tournament we will be aiming for.

I realy wish to know when some mates say a must win, is it that we are sure of the 3 points or we hope we can get the 3 points?
We have seen alot of drama and inconsistency in the lazio team.
Catania is a good team with a good coach, for me, i just hope we can get the best out of the players and get the 3 points.........It is not 3 sure points please.

Claudio Lotito: Chievo Result Was 'Too Penalising' For Lazio
The Biancocelesti suffered a surprise 3-0 home defeat against the Gialloblu which, from Lotito's point of view, was an excessively severe scoreline..
Lazio president Claudio Lotito was quoted by Tuttomercatoweb.com to be disappointed by Sunday’s result against Chievo Verona in the 3-0 defeat at the Olimpico stadium.

For Lotito this was all due to a black-out by the entire team, but in the end, despite everything, the final score was too harsh.

"The result was too penalising for us," commented the Biancocelesti's patron.

“We had a moment of black-out during Chievo's lead. Then in the second half, remaining with 10 players following [Alexander] Koralov's expulsion, did not help us.

"When you start out badly, it's never easy to recover. Some players did not express themselves as they usually do and gave 50 per cent, instead the results are obtained with unity and with work.

"Lazio began without a head and fighting spirit, with too much sufficiency."

Following this defeat, the Romans slipped down to eighth place in the standings, five points away from Champions League challengers Roma and Fiorentina.

I hope Lotito starts behaving wisely and think again rossi's future. We dont have regularity. We can beat even inter in away if we play our best game, But we can be beaten in home by relagation zone team as well. That's mean there is a problem.

I cant accept any excuse against catania. We must win and I want eager players as I saw against juve and napoli. If they play in Lazio, then they should give their %100, at least they must try.

It is the same set of playersa that played juve and napoli.............same coach and same lolitto, if we win in the next 2,3 games lolitto will come out to say we are back and on the right track, when we dont he says something else.It is obvious we are not stable and i wonder what his vision for the team is.
I wish to see Carizzo in goal please, muslera took in 3 now, anyone one of them can be beaten like this when the defence and total structure is bad.............please play carizzo, he is back to the national team again and whether we like it or not, he is our best keeper for now.

I seriously doubt that we will read about this Chievo game in 2-3 years and turns to be part of a match fixing scandal. This is Italy afterall.

But lets move on. We have two more matches before the derby, so we must win both of them in order to get points and to rise the spirit in the locker room.
I would like now to see what players Rossi should put in this time as he is panic man. He will change hole defence and again we will be struggling in finding our game.
There are curtain things that need to change form chievo game. First one is the approach to the game. For the sake of fans, for the sake of Lazialita we must show fight and desire to win this even if the result at the end is no a positive one. I now that this will be hard away game but I hope that Chievo game was like a cold shower to our players and now they'll be more awake. I honestly believe that we can make to Uefa only and only if we are fighting for CL spot because it seems to me like we are too confident in ourself right now. Rossi or not I don't want to be a witness of another missed year.

At the beginnig of the season, we started great ,but coz rossi didnt make a little change in tactic, we started a lose-streak and till lecce match we were terrible. The same thing happen last week. I was expecting rossi to make a little change in lineup or tactic but he didnt and the others started to solve us again. What a coincidence, isnt it? I think, not. This was clear and we paid this so much against chievo. To repeat this against catania again.... I dont want to imagine that.

I agree this is not a sure three points and were playing a team who have a better home record than us. However, that should suit us. We have to  be motivated for this game and playing in a hostile atmosphere should help the players respond. Catania have dangerous players and they will attack us. The problem with chievo was that they took their chances on the counter attack, whereas here we will come under pressure so their should be holes in the catania mid / backline for us to exploit. This game is on saturday i think by the way.
