vs. After a disappointing start against Sampdoria Genoa, the Aquile are flying high and grabbing 7 points out of 3 games. But the homeside are also having a great time, they are just 1 point after Serie A leader Inter Milan. Is it luck or are they really going for a place in the top standings this season? Team News Lazio: Reja stated that Mauri and Hernanes are untouchable in the midfield. Matuzalem is back from an injury and could take Brocchis position. Garrido is nearly full recovered from his injury but won't be in the starting XI. Lazio will probably use the 4-2-3-1 formation with the proven and known defence line. Team News Chievo: Who gives a shit about the useless donkeys? Last year: Chievo 1:2 Lazio

Clearly given the fact that they can win in Genoa and then in Naples this will not be an easy game. However, if we can maintain the performances that we have given so far this season then I see no reason why 3 points can't be taken from this one.

Disappointing Andi - where is your ex-Hellas hate I treat this fixture as a derby, for the simple reason that I only truly detest (i.e stronger then dislike) two Italian teams - merda and chievo. The second of those, perhaps, you may ask, warrants some explanation. Ok. If you haven't read Tim Parks A Season with Verona I suggest you do already, it's one of the best calcio books out there. But surely that would be too retarded to hate the team on the back of a book, probably. But the facts are this; -Small time club -Chievo have only ever had one world class player in their history, and even then he was past it. - I will not forget the year they came up and went straight to Europe. Del Neri's miracle remember. Pass me the sick bucket. - Shitty fans, stadium never full. - Pelissier or bust (for what feels like fucking years and years now) To like Chievo you might as well go the whole hog and wear a totti shirt signed by lotito. CHIEVO MERDA

Theo is right, Chievo is a fucking pointless club What do they have? 765 spectators on average They were quite cool almost ten years ago, but when the excitement of that golden team was over, they got about as interesting a club as Tottenham Hotspur, and that says a lot... Somehow they hang on, year after year after year, despite everyone PRAYING that Curva Nord's brothers Hellas would replace them - immediately. Yet they are always dangerous on the pitch, and due to their lack of support at home, they're as dangerous away from it as ever. Ask Napoli's defence for a start! But this is a match we HAVE to win, nothing else is acceptable. If we're going to Europe, dropping points at home to a team whose kits looks like a kid's been vomiting on it, would be a d-i-s-a-s-t-e-r. What we have though is Hernanes He looks to be starting to take Serie A into is stride now, hence his brilliant performance against Milan! He'll get us out of the trouble the Chievo disease will cause us, with a brilliant assist to Zárate who will score the winner five minutes from time. I love 1-0 victories, and this is the time to start rackin' em' up!

what Lazio cant get is comfortable thinking they will win vs Chievo.
last years game in Verona was lucky win..but i see a new leaf has turned for our boys in blue. 2-0 at the Olimpico will do just fine. is the game in Rome or Verona???
Viola havent been that great lately..so i woudnt go too much from Chievo's game vs them.

Bentegodi has not been an easy ground for us. But I think Chievo is ripe for a fall if we can head in with the right attitude - humble but determined.

If Brescia can do it then we can. YES I am aware that football is not that predictable otherwise we'd know exactly where everybody would finish (aside from Andi who has Moggi on speed dial to help him with Serie A predictions ) This if you like is a classic Lazio fixture to which they have often screwed up in recent years, away to a team that is a smaller club then us. But that said anything but a win is simply out of the question - I am not even entertaining the idea of anything else. This of course is similar to the attitude I had towards us under Rossi, but I cannot help it.

I agree that this is exactly the kind of game that we would lose in the past ie. a game that we should certainly win. this time I dont think its just my blind optimism for Lazio making me think that they will win. they are looking really good and should be more than capable of walking away with the 3 points. Its not so mis-matched that I think they will sit back, which is good for Lazio.

Last year we got a win and a draw from Chievo. This is definitely one of those teams we need to beat and continue rebuilding our credibility and prove that we are no pushovers this year. I think its Zarate's turn to prove he can score (his first goal). He barely played Wednesday so he should be well rested for this match. We'll see matuzalem and lich back in the mix. I would like to see this formation to start: Muslera
Lich Stendardo Dias Radu
Cavanda Ledesma Brocchi
Hernanes
Floccari Zarate
-Bring in Rocchi for Zarate in the second half. -Zarate is on a tight rope if he doesn't score .. i think he's becoming desperate and will be playing harder to find the back of the net, otherwise its clear that our most expensive player will be gone if he doesn't start producing. -Cavanda has had two decent appearances and I think he should be worked into the formation as a starter and as I think Roslagen suggested put him in the mid.

Stop this Stendardo shit. Did you not notice that Biava was faultless against Milan? Faultless I tell you. I do not rate LLSN after their Baronio comments but I do agree when they said it was Biava's best ever performance in the shirt. You do not take out people who are playing well, it's retarded. You take out people who perhaps make rudimentary mistakes. Watch the Ibra goal again and look who was at fault. Dias. Everyone knows my feelings of Dias and this is not a witch-hunt against him, because ultimately I am only totally against Diakite and Foggia for Lazio, everyone else I will give if not the time of day, then the patience they deserve.

We can win this one and we must. Never been easy at Bentagodi for us, but this time my judgement is based on our performance and we do look pretty solid. Cavanda in the middle sounds good, but I doubt Reja will make experiments, especially now.

I'm surprised that from 1 performance your sold. I was never a stendardo fan but I have to he looked better than both dias and biava last year .. biava was absolutely horrible last year. But i'm always willing to give people a new chance. Mauri is another player who's recently looking good .. who i absolutely hated in the past as well.

Wouldn't say I'm sold mate but as I say, he doing good, can't take him out. Of course some big-ass mistake is probably only around the corner (like Dias proves) so I have no problem Stendardo replacing Dias at all, as far as I'm concerned. And I'm with you on Mauri - the matter of the fact is I have no choice but to do an about turn on him as well - can't knock him so far even though I'm confident the Mauri we all hate is probably going to return - he hasen't been this good for us since 2006. For me it's vitally important Hernanes continues to improve, and that for the sake of the team, people like Bresciano and Ledesma regularly contribute because if we put all our hopes on Mauri there's only one direction we're going - down the table.

with all this talk about removing dias, I think it would be wiser to put Radu back in the central position, and see what cavanda can do back on the left, no need to play him out of his understudy position. let alone try and squeeze him into our most contentious position(side midfield)
Lich-Biava-Radu-Cavanda
as for the mid Ledesma, hernanes, and Muari of course. as for the 4th(hopfully only 4 mid) Brocchi if hes good and fit, if not, Bresciano even though he didnt put any shots on net last outing. really I would be happy with almost anyone of our midfielders in that place, just so long as we play 2 up front.
_____-Ledesma-Muari Hernanes
forward: Floccari no question, and I say zarate and Rocchi or Kozak in at the 65' which on depends on how the game is going. ie Kozak if it seems we need the air and Rocchi if were pushing and just need that something special.
Floccari-Zarate

Lazio is usually struggling with defensive counter-attack minded teams so this will not be an easy one. Of course we are much better but they`re approach scares me. 1:0 will be good enough !
