Finally our beloved Lazio has won and put on quite a performance. Now we can hopefully continue the positive change and beat fiorentina who are above us by 4 points. Last season Lazio was able to start the season with a 4-1 victory over fiorentina only to get beaten in the second half of the season. I hope today sparked some confidence in the team and hopefully the confidence can be restored in the fans as well.

I think you'll find it was a 3-0 win And Zaccardo plays for Parma... so do your research in future, Mr D'Ambrosio I'm thinking it will be an extremely difficult game. I'm not hopeful, not for us performing, but for Viola simply being too good. We'll have to see - whilst our confidence may be high, Fiorentina's will be equally so.

We play away and i feel more comfortable..............we have a much more better away form so far this season, but both teams will be on a high following the outstanding victories in midweek. We should win this one. Trust me.

Last year's win against Fiorentina was probably our best game all season. It was a dominating performance. Let's hope we can do the same this year - though being on the road will make a tie more than acceptable.

Fiorentina boss Cesare Prandelli will have studied the fixture list long and hard before the start of the season and pinpointed a good start as a distinct possibility. In reality putting points on the board is easier said than done, but the Orzinuovi-born tactician will be content with his side’s return of four wins from six games.
However, with an October full of tough away fixtures to the likes of Juventus and Genoa, the importance of this home game to Lazio is increased. Fiorentina have finished fourth in the last two seasons but if they aspire for something greater, they need to make sure they are not out of the running before the race has really begun.
Lazio, on the other hand, are looking to get back to winning ways, with their last victory coming away to Chievo in Week 2. Boss Davide Ballardini will hope Fiorentina’s tough midweek match against Liverpool will have a tiring effect on their players, although Stevan Jovetic’s brace is likely to have galvanised the squad more than anything.
Defensively the Biancocelesti can be somewhat suspect but in attack they have a partnership that can pose a serious threat to any backline. Unfortunately for the Lazio fans, they will have only one half of their Argentine double act as Julio Cruz has been ruled out through injury. Nonetheless, Mauro Zarate will be looking to add to his goals tally for the campaign, having scored in his last two outings.
Cruz is joined by a long list of absentees for the Sky Blues that includes Nigerian forward Stephen Makinwa, midfielder Cristian Brocchi and one time West Ham loanee Lionel Scaloni.
Right-back Gianluca Comotto and winger Mario Santana represent the extent of the Viola’s injury problems. Dario Dainelli misses out through suspension, giving Danish international Per Kroldrup the opportunity to impress.
Last season’s encounter saw Alberto Gilardino hit an injury time winner against a spirited Lazio side that had played the majority of the game with 10 men. Lorenzo De Silvestri, ironically now in the Fiorentina ranks, was shown a second yellow card in the 18th minute. Nonetheless, despite the handicap, Lazio were desperately unlucky to lose 1-0.
Keep an eye on: Stevan Jovetic (Fiorentina) – After his exploits against the Reds, could it really be anyone else? Actually it’s quite difficult to say whether the exciting Montenegrin will even start the match as Prandelli doesn’t want to lay too much too soon on the talented 19-year-old’s shoulders. The Coach must be tempted though – he’ll be absolutely brimming with confidence.
Last five in Serie A: Fiorentina (W W L W W) Lazio (W L D L D)
Last season: Fiorentina 1-0 Lazio Fiorentina (probable): Frey; Jorgensen, Gamberini, Kroldrup, Pasqual; Zanetti, Montolivo; Jovetic, Mutu, Vargas; Gilardino
Lazio (probable): Muslera; Lichsteiner, Cribari, Radu, Del Nero; Dabo, Baronio, Mauri, Matuzalem; Rocchi, Zarate

Fiorentina played well against Liverpool, Jovetic has been an outstanding player when he does come onto the field. Having Rocchi on the field should really boost our chances and hopefully Balla goes for an offensive lineup in the midfield that makes use of our creative and speedy players. This will be a very difficult game as they have ability to hold onto ball possesion as well as counter with their speed and playmaking ability from Montolivo and co.

I think we need to be happy after our win against Levski but lets not go overboard as they aren't a team to be parading about beating but just happy we got our 3 points. Fiorentina is a tougher team and we need to make a point this year that we can take out a strong team. Fiorentina has been pretty consistent in the past years. Jovetic is a dangerous player. I hope we can get someone like him in our midfield in january.

Not a good time to go to Florence to be honest, they looked outstanding in their win against Liverpool. Yeah, Jovetic is outstanding but Fiorentina go much deeper than that. Vargas is verging on world class now, fantastic at crossing a ball. Marchionni and Zanetti are great additions from Juve, and Mutu and Gilardino are top players. Its not gonna be an easy game thats for sure. But, we have players who can hurt them and last year we should have won in florence with ten men as well for that matter. They may be overconfident, so important not to concede early.
