Both Argentinian strikers confirm how useless they are .. especially zarate .. he's officially become the new makinwa.

Cruz and Zarate actually created a couple of chances by the two of them. Impressive, really, you are just too blind to see. Come on, give them a chance, at least Cruz is imbued with such youthful spirit I see no reason why he should not stay until, say, 2018. Lotito should look into their salaries as well.

True, they had great chances .. but did they finish ? I think we should consider sending zarate away on loan for a quality midfielder until he lives up to his hype or we get a hefty sum of money to cover what we wasted on him. I think cruz's contract is over anyways this year so he'll probably just hang up his boots.

Uh-huh, I see I should not try to be funny. It is not my main forte, I admit.

Quote
Dias did have a great game but in no way shape or form should this guy be our starting central defender overall if we want to see quality. Future sub at most.

Have to disagree. Dias has been playing better and better each game and has even scored two goals with his head. He's a rugged Defender who is now catching Dunga's eye on the selecao. He said it was very hard to get used to playing in Italy and that he was depressed and lonely the first few weeks but now feels at home at Formello. Dias may turn out to be a very good signing and, if he continues to play better, a starter.

According to my understanding Dias should have been part of the Brazilian national team in Confederations Cup last summer had he not been injured. I am also aware of his problems to adapt to the circumstances in Italy, not to mention the injury he had almost right upon his arrival, and I would like to agree with the above assessment. Here is hoping. One correction, though, he has scored one header. The other goal was a... umm... ballser?!?

The honeymoon period between us is over

I disagree. Better and better? Sure, maybe better from the PITS that his first game for us was. But seriously, he is not a good  defender imo,  he can do all what he wants at the other end and I'm not going to complain, but a defender should be judged when all is said and done, as defending. My problem is he has a very random approach much like Diakite, but Dias hasen't got the airhead to match, so to that end I'd agree with Dan - stick him on the bench at the best for the future seasons.

Dias can take Siviglia's place on the bench 'as the old defender to help secure the game' . That should be Dias's role after we hopefully get 2 new CB's in the Summer.

Big win, huge breath...1 point for this season to be safe and to start making plans for the next year to buil a team from the beggining..A team to be able to hit the Championship and not to avoid the relegation...Sell or leave free the shit players and bring new ''blood'' in the team...Just take another point or more....No matter how no matter the cost just in order to be safe....

Floccari saved the day by making correct his last's week penalty lost..Against the team that we have taken him from loan!!Lets hope to make him ours and buy him....Great come back...Second one with Reja as manager..That makes me think that yes Reja has guts and inspires the players...Even though he still makes mistakes but he brings the winning points so....Well done...

^^ he's made few defensive errors in the last few games so I'm not sure what your expecting from him. As far as replacing him, I have to see some names and then I'll decide whether he should start or come from the bench. I'm just saying that i think we'd probably make some money off of him if we sold him so he's turned out to be a good pick up. Moreover, and let me put it this way, I think that on a scale of 1-10 he's probably a 6.5-7. so if we can pick up a 7-8 to play next to him, it wouldn't be a bad D at all. Now, if you think we're in the market for Lucio, Chivu, Silva, Chiellini, Nesta, Natali, Kjaer etc. well then he can sit on the bench otherwise, he's no worse than what they have at Samp or Napoli IMO.

Actually that's a very good point - he isn't. But surely the only way to come above those teams is to get better then them in any way possible. And for us to qualify in Europe in future seasons we will have to come above Samp and Napoli to do it - there is no 'Udinese' meltdown forthcoming with them, both of those are going to be the top 8 spots for the forseeable. Our defence as you say is probably on par with them, well, let's strive for better!
That list you mentioned is a bit unrealistic for me but in all honesty there is no point trying to second guess Lotito. It's not guaranteed he'll even strengthen the team over the Summer, but I'd go as far to say that even if he plans too, he'd touch the defence the least.  And that's what concerns me, because I see Dias like Mauri, limited ability, but can perform on a match from time to time - that is not good enough if we want to perform better in the league, we need more quality players, on the field of play, and then a bench full of players that can perform on a match from time and time... rather then now, where we have a bench that can only be described as 'useless.'
That is how I see the situation.

i don't think we'll be on the market for quality players as you mentioned. But I'm also convinced that until we get players somewhere between the crap we have and the players you mentioned we'll always be a shit team. I define these players by their OVERALL performance throughout the season and not just on a couple good games. Until lotito replaced these rehabs with quality .. you can expect this team to hang around relegation zone as they've been doing all season.

Based on Samp and Napoli's goals conceded I suppose you can make the assumption that their defense is no greater than ours. But what they lack in defense they make up for in midfield and attack which is ALSO where our team suffers, and the other fact is that they are both sitting comfortably high up the table who can keep their heads high, Lazio is an absolute embarrassment overall and nobody in their right mind would consider them a strong team right now.

They played well today, not great but considering who was on the field no real dissappointments.  Really wish Rocchi could have converted one of his chances early on to but the game to rest.  Muslera and Floccari are outstanding.

We need a more balanced team so we can use formations that let the players do what they are supposed to do.  I know our defensive record gets bounced around as being good but we need to alllow our midfielders to advance more and distribute the ball, we can't expect to exceed playing a team focused defence strategy with everyone back.  It may prevent us from being relegated but not from advancing into the top 10.

Reja has worked out well but I still don't beleive we would be going into EL even if himself, Floccari and any other additions were available from day 1.  Like with Rossi we will need to see good players come in to give them a fighting chance at accomplishing anything.  Consistency is important and our season's record shows that, beating Genoa twice is maybe like their version of our AC Milan curse.

And that's just my point. We can keep Dias, he's not shit, and pick up players elsewhere and prouce a better team. In other words Siviglia cannot be part of a better team because he's just too weak, but Dias on a better team would work out just fine. He's not the answer by any means, but he could be part of a solution - a small part mind you, but still part.
