VS The last 3 serie matches haven't left lazio with their heads high but tonite's coppa clash against milan hopefully had an impact on morale and a confidence boost this team needed for saturday. Inter are top of the table with 6 point lead to second place Juventus and AC Milan. It really is bad timing to play Inter only 3 days after the coppa victory which also went into extra time. Something tells me Rossi will stick to his usual formation which we haven't had luck with and hopefully he's learned something form today's games that our other resources are better than he probably thinks. This fixture ended 1-1 last year. Lazio haven’t beaten Inter since December 2003 and the two sides have met 13 times in all competitions since. Once again we're missing Matuzalem who is a much needed player in our not so strong midfield. Considering Brocchi and Radu were left out of today's match I'm sure they will be starting with possibly Cribari in Siviglias position .. It would be nice to see Diakite but after a 120 minute shift it looks unlikely. Inter is walking into the match with a 5/5 victory stretch and Lazio with a 2/5 and of those the last 3 were not wins. Lazio's defense will have to focus on Ibarhimovic who is tied with Zarate with 7 goals. I'm really hoping Zarate and Pandev can add to their tally after not scoring in some time in regular season.

Im not expecting Rocchi in start, hes our captain, but seems couple Zarate-Pandev better than Zarate-Rocchi. In the other hand, i want to see Diakite replace Siviglia in center of defend line. Just play like AC.Milan match, i think nothing is impossible.

This milan win is a good motivation and impetus to attack and kill inter. We hav enot beaten inter since 2003? I am not sure of that. Diakite should play, he was good and 120 minutes against milan should not be an excuse. We are very settled on the left side of defence with radu and kolarov and on the right with lich and de silvestre.

03/12/2008 15:03 Zarate To Be Benched Against Inter – Reports The Argentinian striker looks set to start from the bench against the Nerazzurri this weekend. Mauro Zarate came to Rome in the summer on loan from Qatar side Al-Saad and has made an immediate impact in Serie A, scoring seven goals so far for the Biancocelesti.
His work ethic and goals have contributed to a fantastic start to the season, which has now tempered off somewhat.
On Saturday night Lazio host current Serie A champions Inter Milan, and the Biancocelesti are in need of a great showing, coming off the back of some disappointing results.
The Nerazzurri in contrast, find themselves ahead of the pack and are hoping to extend their lead and make sure that they go into the Christmas break on top of Serie A.
Interestingly, despite the need for a positive result against the travelling Milan giants, reports suggest that Zarate will not be in the starting eleven, and will rather watch the game from the bench to begin with.
Zarate has been one of the best players for the capital club thus far, and it comes as a shock that he will be left on the bench from the beginning.
Expected to play up front, Pasquale Foggia will be just behind Tommaso Rocchi and Goran Pandev in attack.

Lazio's Dabo: We Beat Milan, Now Let's Beat Inter The Aquile sent the Rossoneri packing in the Coppa Italia last night, and the French midfielder feels they can also upset their city rivals on Saturday... Milan crashed out of the Coppa Italia last evening, as Lazio came from behind to win 2-1 after extra-time.
The Biancocelesti came off two defeats and a draw in Serie A and had last tasted victory on November 9, when they trounced Siena 3-0.
“We were very attentive at the back and managed to hit them on the counter,” he stated after the Stadio San Siro tie.
“We could have scored even more goals, but we are nonetheless satisfied.”
Delio Rossi’s men will face a stern test at the weekend, hosting runaway leaders Inter at the Stadio Olimpico.
“This success will go a long way toward boosting our morale ahead of the clash with the Nerazzurri,” the 31-year-old continued.
“Over the last few games, luck did not smile on us and unfavourable episodes condemned our side, but we have proved against a strong side like Milan that we are still here and can achieve great things this term.

Diakite was fantastic in AC match.Putting Silvestri as a DM who playing inclined to right side could be good way in situation we are lacking of midfielder. Im so sick to see Manfredini or Mauri.

04/12/2008 10:45 Rocchi: Lazio Are Ready To Beat Inter The hit-man is ready to do the business against Inter on Sarurday night and he is full of confidence... Lazio striker Tommaso Rocchi insists he is ready to shoot down Inter when the Nerazzurri visit the Stadio Olimpico on Saturday night.
The Biancocelesti are in confident mood heading into the showdown after beating Milan 2-1 at San Siro to book their place in the quarter finals of the Coppa Italia on Wednesday night.
Rocchi didn't score against the Rossoneri but he insists he has saved a goal just for Inter as he looks to bring the high-flying Nerazzurri back down to earth.
"It will be a difficult game but we will give out best," Rocchi told Il Corriere Dello Sport.
"The league is important and now we face Inter at home. We need to do it in the right spirit and we have to believe we can get the right result.
"We have shown that we can play anyone and so we head into the game with confidence from the Milan win."
Lazio have taken their foot off the pedal in Serie A and they will be hoping to bounce back from their unexpected 2-0 loss to Atalanta last week.

If the coach will want to play 2 strikers, then the report that Zarate will be benched from start against inter may be true......in the game against milan, rocchi and pandev started and we created lots of chances....i hope foggia starts against inter and mauri is on the bench,if we creat alot against inter like we did against milan we will win.
Zarate has scored just 4 goals from open play so far......the others are 2 penalty and 1 freekick. Thats not too impressive. We will see what the coach will do.

I'm affraid that u're right! I'm saying the same thing over and over! watch carefully the second goal -Zarate missed wide open goal(his kick was blocked from Senderos I think)and then was the lucky folow up from Pandev!!! But he has good speed(in terms of fitness he is better than Pandev) and these are the reasons why I think that it is wise 2 use him as a winger (not up front)! That is my humble opinion but I think that I'm right!

Lotito: Mourinho's Inter Don't Scare Lazio The fiery chief has warned Inter not to expect an easy fight when they visit the Olimpico this weekend... Lazio president Claudio Lotito insists his side have nothing to fear from Inter as they prepare to welcome the Champions.
The Biancocelesti host the Nerazzurri on Saturday night and they will be looking to continue their return to form following the 2-1 win against Milan in the Coppa Italia.
Inter are favourites for maximum points but the chief has fired up his troops and he insists there is no need to worry.
"Lazio can play anyone and we are not afraid of Jose Mourinho's Inter side," Lotito told Sky Sport Italia.
"Personally, I have never been afraid of anyone and we have to show our true values on the pitch by being cynical and determined."
Lotito's side are joint fourth with Fiorentina, 10 points behind the league leaders. The rest of the Serie A title chasers will be hoping the Aquilotti can cause Inter an upset.

Inter is a different club, with a different set of players, a different coach and a different mentality. We may need a slightly higher mentality than we used against milan and a totally different approach.

I hope Rossi plays a similar formation to the Milan game. We have all been waiting to see de Silvestri and Lich on the field at the same time...and I think we were all right it seemed to be a good fit with Lich in the midfield. Im not sure if it will happen but id love to see Diakite start, he was a beast against Milan and provides us with that sheer athleticism and strength that most of our other defenders dont have. deSil and Diakite played like guys that WANT to play and win, something we really need to put this team over the top. They are young and hungry, they both should start.

I knew it would be a problem having both milan games so close together. I just read on Lazialita that Lichsteiner may be injured. Foggia and Rozhenal skipped training due to a fever and Pandev and Mauri skipped training due to physical issues. I'm not really feeling this game because a tired Lazio will not overcome a well rested Inter. It's always the same story that players are rumoured to miss these big matches when they end up playing in the end. DeSilvestri and Diakite impressed Rossi so much that they may start becoming regulars, and I have a feeling it will be this weekend.

I could watch only extra time of milan match and the team I saw was impressive. Our youngs, De Silvestri and Diakte, as well as Foggia were good and these three should be regular players of Lazio. De Silvestri and Diakte can be young but they can get experience playing lots of matches. I am not sure Delio Rossi will put them in eleven, but he should do. If he does, they fell the confidence of their coach and this motivates them. Another thing making me happy is Pandev's goal against milan, I hope he will keep scoring and playing well. Finally, I don't have %100 confidence against inter because we have already played a 120-minute-match and due to this we are tired. Even if we lose, I don't believe losing will damage our aims on a large scale because we will play inter and they are good team, nevertheless I have good felling against inter....just faith...
Forza Lazio 00 00 00
