Looks like we played quite well today from that brief clip, what a strike from Kolarov from such an angle on the left flank. A must see goal if anyone has not already. The table is so tight now, if results go our way next week we could be in 7th place by next weekend. Truth is Rossi has to find a way to get the best out of talented players like Kolarov, Foggia and meghni. I actually think perhaps Radu could be moved into the central defence to partner Rozenhal / Diakhite and then let Kolarov have the regular playing time on the left back position. If we keep playing siviglia / cribari we will get punished against a better side. Lecce did seem to carve out quite a few opportunities.

From Channel4.com:

Lecce 0 - 2 Lazio
Foggia 10 (La), Kolarov 52 (La)
Stadio Via Del Mare

Lecce hit the woodwork three times, but Lazio emerged with the points thanks to Pasquale Foggia and an Aleksandr Kolarov blockbuster.

Delio Rossi returned to face his former club and both were under pressure to get points. Lecce had lost two on the trot and were in 17th place, while Lazio plummeted down the standings after one point from five. Simone Del Nero, Mourad Meghni and Stefano Mauri were missing for the visitors, while Ndiaye Papa Waigo and Javier Castillo made up Lecce's injury list.

The Aquile's last win at the Via del Mare was in 2003-04 and they faced former Lazio defender Guglielmo Stendardo.

After just 18 seconds Lecce hit the post! Fabio Caserta threaded a through ball in for Daniele Cacia, whose angled drive thumped the base of the upright.

Lazio responded seven minutes later with Mauro Zarate smacking a drive from the edge of the box on to the crossbar with Francesco Benussi beaten.

The goal was in the air and Pasquale Foggia broke the deadlock with a bit of luck. The cross came in from the right and his volley from the edge of the box was impressive, but ultimately beat the goalkeeper thanks to a deflection off ex-Lazio defender Stendardo.

Goran Pandev put the ball in the back of the net from Cristian Brocchi's cross as the ball ricocheted around the box, but it was disallowed for an offside position. However, replays show Pandev was behind the line of the ball and therefore the goal should have been valid.

Simone Tiribocchi managed to spin between three defenders just inside the area, but his angled drive clipped the base of the upright, as Lecce hit the woodwork for the second time,

Zarate's first touch let him down, allowing Benussi to smother, while the Argentine also cut back from the byline to flash across the face of goal.

Nestor Muslera punched away Luca Ariatti's left-foot effort, but Lazio doubled their lead straight after the restart.

Aleksandr Kolarov did it all by himself, cutting in from the left and smashing a fantastic strike across the face of goal into the far top corner from a tight angle.

Lecce were still in it, though, as Cacia got in front of Sebastiano Siviglia to nod on to the side-netting and Ariatti's strike was charged down.

Both goalkeepers impressed late on, as Muslera anticipated Stendardo from point-blank range and Benussi parried Foggia's counter-attack.

The Salentini were very unlucky, as late on Ariatti's thunderbolt from 20 metres cracked against the frame of the goal for the third time.
Lecce: Benussi; Polenghi (Basta 56), Stendardo, Fabiano, Giuliatto (Munari 69); Caserta, Edinho, Ariatti; Giacomazzi (Vives 46), Cacia, Tiribocchi

Lazio: Muslera; Lichsteiner, Siviglia, Cribari, Kolarov; Brocchi, Ledesma, Matuzalem (Dabo 91); Foggia; Zarate (Rocchi 73), Pandev

finally, we're back to winning ways again. I can still see us qualifying for Uefa next year if we keep it up. but I still think Rossi needs to be replaced at the end of the season.
anyway, forza Lazio  01

Uefa cup last spot is just 2 points away...its not a big deal to qualify for Uefa , we also are still at the italian cup , i think we have many chances of qualifying...anyway many teams are good this year at Serie A and makes it harder..
Forza lazio ! lets keep it like this -- winning --

As I understand it, if we can make the finals of the Coppa against Inter, we get the spot in UEFA, if we don't make it and Samp doeas against Juve, they get it. In any case, some strong performances will put us in contention. Hey, it wasn't all that long ago that we went on a 9 game win streak. Forza Lazio.

Good to see everyone while speaking hopeful and happy after a long time. However, Lecce is not our opponent and lower than us. My opinion about team, for now, is not definite. After Bologna(home) and Napoli(away) matches, our real capacity will reveal. We created more goal oportunities compared to the past matches, which is a good sign. However, as I said, I am wating next two matches, because, these matches will show something real about team.

Of course all of us are happy. After a long time we finally win. However both goals came from Foggia and Kolarov. Again our front line failed to finish and score. I didn't remember when was the last time our attackers, especially Zarate-Karate to score. This is a problem and Rossi must solve it.  Rossi to solve it?!?!?!

I think that Weirdo from the steam should be taken to the derby, we might then have chance to win it .

How can you speak about Rossi like this, he is a very good coach? Of course he will solve bro He is our best coach in history

To be honest, I am afraid, maybe our happy situation can finish next week. What pushes me into this thought is of course Rossi.

Matuzalem was fantastic, we are starting to see the quality this guy can bring to the team. It was a good win, but I still feel,Carizzo must be put in the net.

Muslera made some fantastic saves and has been more impressive than Carizzo. We need to put the better player in net and right now and that's muslera. I think against bologna we should try carizzo again but If we were playing a bigger team I'd rather see muslera in net. Muslera seems to accept being the second string keeper and i'm sure if we keep benching carizzo he'll be on his way out the door. But so far carizzo hasn't lived up to expectations and we need a solid keeper NOW. If we have to wait for players to develop then loan them out.

I know we were linked to abbiati a while back and I think we should've grabbed him. That guy has been one of the most impressive keepers i've seen all season. The keepers position is not something we can gamble with and need to spend money and make sure we get pure quality in that position.

I agree, we can lose carizzo and looks like your suggestion about bologna match and big team matches seems rather logical. To ignore one goolkeeper and to keep bench one of them is not a good idea. We should try to give a chance to both, because, they are promising and to lose them would be bad.
