Two crushing losses came to us in less than a week. One to our rivals which left us bitter in defeat and the other to a small club that removed us from the top spot killing our fantasy of winning the scudetto. Now it seems like deja vu when we started strong only to finish the year bottom of the table. However, it is too soon to jump to any conclusions at this point the team is looking less convincing to earn the top spot.

This Sunday, at the Olimpico, we will battle with Napoli who have looked convicing even moreso than last year and when they first were re-introduced back into Serie A. With deadly players up front like Lavezzi, Hamsik and Cavani .. our defense will surely be on its toes as one of these 3 score almost every game and if we are to do the same will have to start scoring as well as we haven't see in the last 2 games.

Reja will have to field the best possible 11. We can expect to see a major improvement as the hard lichsteiner will be back as well as our prophet who really seems to be our saviour this year who should be fresh and ready. Zarate seems to have fallen out with Reja as he was yelled at most of yesterdays game for his egoism and eventually was subbed off and eventually through a fit and went to the locker room. I believe we've seen enough evidence that he lacks professionalism, can't work in a team and can't do what we expect him to do .. score goals. I highly doubt we can expect a turnaround from him and its pretty clear he needs to be offloaded in january.

If the team plans on restoring confidence it can easily be done this weekend. We need to keep doing what we failed to do all of last season which was to not only win but to beat credible opponents.

I can sort of see the let down in Cesena, but if we can't get up for this one, we're in trouble.

potential season-defining game....let's see how Reja can prepare the team and, more importantly, see how this team can respond to some serious pressure.  MUST WIN.

I agree, it could be season defining. Winning is a habit as much as loosing can be, so we must stop the rot of defeats here or the team will have a whole week to stew on three defeats in a row and everybody taking pleasure in our downfall. With Hernanes and Mauri back we should create much more, and hopefully Floccari will be on the end of that service to put them away. Rocchi or Zarate to start, I'm not sure. What I am sure of is that we need another forward in Jan unless we get some production of Zarate, which seems unlikely to be honest.

Last year we drew them in both games. The second game was with Reja as coach going against his old team. Hopefully this game motivates him to get the result from the team that gave him the boot. Both teams are pretty much fielding more or less the same teams as the last time we played except this time we'll have hernanes and they will have cavani who are both huge improvements to the teams. They have a much stronger offense while we have a slightly better defense.

Lazio GF - 13 GA - 9
Napoli GF - 18 GA - 11

Despite us being higher in the standing they do look a lot more threatening than we do and we need prove a point Sunday.

I hope we will win this match. Zarate and his egoism is not good for the team. I hope, he will not begin..

I just realized that the Milan Derby is this weekend. This is probably our best chance at reclaiming the top spot back considering Inter are the best team possible to take out Milan and they're desperate after their last two games to get the result. WE MUST WIN!!!!!

I understand why we rested some players last week, hell I even called for it. what I dont get is why we rested so many key players. why risk losing what should have been an easy(er) 3 points for the possibility of stealing points from a more challenging opponent?

Napoli has been playing all out every week + playing in EL and only rested cavani, and not even for the whole game. if ever there was a game that could prove whether Reja was right to rest players this is it. if he was right Lazio should out pace Napoli and should be able to keep that dominance up till the 90mins.

lets hope Reja is proven right, Forza Lazio!

We really need to go for the jugular to save our face after such poor showing at Cesena. One point from that game would still have been pathetic. From this game point might be an achievement. To be honest, I feel Napoli are stronger than us and the strongest contender for Scudetto alongside the Milano teams so I am not so much concerned about our current league position as I am about our overall status in the league.

It would be high time for Hernanes to hit the back of the net from a free kick and Floccari to return to scoring after a three game dry spell. It is a miracle if we can survive without conceding. I have enough faith in our defense but Napoli simply can create and score and the dominance of Cavani is fearsome.

The way Latius goes on a tangent and comes to a conclusion and finds a solution regarding a certain player is hilarious. I wonder how many variations on that theme we have seen within the past year. I should say I agree, Zarate needs to benched and disposed of asap.

Reja needs to show that he is not pussy and go take those 3 points. I don't want to see another "we are happy with draw" kind of game. That was the case with many games before but on the contrary that bring us to the top itself. Boh?

Now is the time to see if we are mature enough or god is just playing with us.

According to Lazialita it looks like the formation will be 4-2-3-1 with Zarate to start.

I would be pissed with even a tie. Debez was 100% right, we should have went all out against cessena and grabbed the 3 points instead of risking against napoli who seem like a CL bound team this year and are playing amazing. I would not like to see us win this game .. but win in fashion and actually prove that we are not at the top out of luck and to show all the haters and doubters that this lazio is reborn and we mean business this year. DAJE LAZIO!

Napoli ARE Fucking Zingari!!!!!

We should get 3 points here, simple as. This team has to decide if they're men or pussies. After the derby defeat and then the pathetic showing against Cesena, they owe us fans a good performance against Naples.

I think the formation will revolve around making floccari as the sole striker with Mauri Hernanes and Zarate behind him hopefully feeding him balls and seems that we will be out on the attack for this game.

Currently Lavezzi is the one of the three that concerns me the most, though Cavani remains red hot. We will need Brocchi's fire in this one to contain at least some of their creativity. Personally I think this game will be very tight, it may take a moment of magic to unlock either side. One things for sure, we must win this game to bounce back else we'll be staring at midtable in no time at all.
