VS

The eagles have taken flight and yesterday brought smiles to Lazio fans everywhere as Juventus the second place football giant of Serie A was taken down.

Now we must look ahead to a struggling Napoli who have tumbled down the table like we have and now fighting for points. Unlike Lazio, Napoli was defeated by Juventus last week however the scoreline hardly reflected the teams abilities.

This will be a lethal encounter that cannot be overlooked but I am faithful after the last 3 matches that we can pick up another 3 points (I hope). Lazio travel to Sao Paolo where it will be difficult but they but us at the Olimpico now its time to turn the tables.

Forza Lazio! 00 00

Napoli - Lazio
Stadio San Paolo

Napoli will be looking to end their crisis as they take on a reborn Lazio at the San Paolo in a game which could be a thriller.

The Azzurri need to prove a point in front of their own fans after a slump in form and results. On Saturday night they suffered a 1-0 defeat at Juventus but clearly deserved more. Still they can no longer afford any more slip-ups if they are to finish in the top-half by the end of the season.

“Perhaps we deserved more but we cannot talk about bad luck, I wanted to see a reaction from my boys and the team is improving,” said Edy Reja. “Juve struggled a bit and our defence played well. The most important thing is that we got our fighting spirit back.”

Regarding Ezequiel Lavezzi’s last minute equaliser, which was disallowed for offside, Reja expressed his diplomatic thoughts. “No comment – sometimes linesmen see the right thing, sometimes they don’t. It’s the game.”

Meanwhile, Lazio, who only a few weeks ago were in as much trouble as Napoli, have now managed to get back on track with two consecutive wins. The Biancocelesti are eighth with 38 points, only six behind the UEFA spot held by rivals Roma. Last weekend they won 2-0 against Bologna and followed that up with a 2-1 Coppa Italia win over Juventus.

“We played a good game and the team is in good shape,” said Delio Rossi. “It was important for us to win in order to continue our good run of results and displays.”

Napoli’s injury list is long and includes the likes of Marcelo Zalayeta, Gennaro Iezzo and Matteo Giannello. Walter Gargano is also injured and the Uruguayan midfielder may be ruled out for some time due to a fractured bone in his foot. Simone Del Nero and Mourad Meghni are Lazio’s only unavailable players.

Fernando Muslera will be preferred to Juan Pablo Carrizo, and for the out of favour ‘keeper some Argentine sources have advised a switch to the San Paolo this summer. In attack there will be Mauro Zarate and Goran Pandev, which means Tommaso Rocchi will once again sit on the bench.

Keep an eye on: Mauro Zarate (Lazio) – The pocket striker came back from hibernation with a wonderful brace against Bologna and will be inspired to play in the home of Diego Maradona. “Mauro was always very dangerous but goals are the best medicine,” explained Rossi.

Last season: Napoli 2-2 Lazio

Form guide: Napoli (D L D L L) Lazio(L L D W W)
Napoli (probable): Navarro; Santacroce, Cannavaro, Contini; Maggio, Pazienza, Blasi, Hamsik, Vitale; Denis, Lavezzi

Lazio (probable): Muslera; Lichtsteiner, Cribari, Siviglia, Kolarov; Brocchi, Ledesma, Matuzalem, Foggia; Pandev, Zarate

Damn right we beat Juventus but we should not fly high  or else it can slap us in the face.

Napoli are dieing to get some points as they are falling down so quickly. I hope we will forget Juve game and concentrate on this one. Lazio fans aren't going to participate in this game so we will lose our biggest weapon. It's great that Zarate is back and one of our attacker will be rested. Our defense seems good and solid and Muslera is more confident every match. We should play calm and let Napoli piss off and then take our chance. Just want to see Mauri or Brocchi instead of Manfredini.

After this game we have Chievo, Catania and SIena, all must win or in this 4 games we must get at least 9 points.

No question, Napoli will take this game very seriously. It's a direct clash for Europe and potentially their last chance to get in. I can't say we'll win for sure, but our chances will be very good if we continue to play like we did in the second half gainst Juve.  Let's just keep the formation the same 4-4-2 with Zarate and Foggia on the field. Napoli are in a similar situation to what we were in just a few weeks ago, there desperate for a win before its too late to salvage anything. They have the players and capability to beat any team at home in serie A. They beat inter at the sao paolo last season and have an absolute caldron of a stadium. For us this is our biggest test before the derby, and three points here would pull us clear to the chasing pack behind us as Atalanta and Palermo are unlikely to pick up any points this weekend. Sixth place, maybe even fifth, is still possible but if it is to be then we must get three points here. They have good forwards in Lavezzi and Denis, and Hamsik is destined for great things but if we play like we did last night then we should get the job done. Worryingly thou the last time we had three wins in a row we then proceeded to loose four. Lets hope that this pattern does not repeat itself. One thing is certain, Foggia and Zarate must start.  06

Wow, after a super turn-back win, I want to talk so much about juve game but our tough fixture doesnt let that , we have already started to worry about napoli game.

Now, we can look future hopeful anymore and this is what we have wanted for a long long time. Even if we won 3 games, the most important thing is how we played at these matches. We can get a winning-streak but unless we dont play well, we cant speak hopeful tough match like this. Because of this I am hopeful against napoli, we found our form and I can see the light in our team; eager, faithful and dynamic.

As to match, yeah I agree with some of you who told that napoli are going down day by day and maybe this match is their last chance to maintain their competiton for europe. This reality makes this match harder than normal. Napoli is not a bad team actually. They have enough capacity and it is not a surprise if they beat inter, milan, etc... Lavezzi and Hamsik are good players and we need to take measures for them. But, honestly, when we compare two teams objectively, we have more dangerous players than napoli. So I think, if napoli coach watched our last 3 matches, he will take measures for Foggia, Pandev, Zarate, Matu, etc.

I believe we can win this and keep on fighting for spot. We must win, because palermo, atalanta and the others are now wating and hope our lose against napoli. One lose can put everthing in bad again if the others win. Really competetive race for uefa spot, and every point can be regarded as gold. BUT, our players have to forget juve match and begin to focus on napoli, if they dont, napoli's chace can increase.

napoli are in a very similar situation to us now and we have to focus to make sure they don't beat us twice in one season.  Again these are the games we must start winning if we are looking to europe in the near future (obviously not taking the coppa into account) and it would be great if we could start a run of good results from last night (even th last two weeks) until the end of the season.

They beat us in rome, we should beat them here and we are on a high now.
I hope the coach plays the better guys.....i mean foggia, matuzalem, pandev....
Zarate will be hot and fresh, he is back to scoring and didnt plat on tuesday, aside that i think he will want to directly compete and outshine his fellow argentinians in napoli. I hope it pays off and he gets a goal and an assist.
Goodluck guys. 00 00 00

Napoli is a strong team. But they can not win last 6 matches. If they continue like that they lose their EURO Cup chances. So they will be more concentration on Lazio match. They scored 22 goals in 13 matches (8win, 3draw, 2lose) in San Paolo. On the other hand Lazio conceded 22 goals in 12 matches (5win, 1draw, 6lose) on away. Defenders must be more concentration cause of this statistics. We will see more ambitious Napoli on weekend.

Good luck lads.

I hope we capitalise, ma problem with teams i love and support is that they never capitalise........liverpool could not beat 'boro, they 'boro and much weaker and had not won a game in their last 14games, yet they beat liverpool 2-0.
Napoli are not doing well, i hope we stay on high and have some luck to win this one.

Tommaso Rocchi Aims For Lazio Century
Rocchi is aiming to fly high with the Aquilotti as he eyes more goals...
Lazio hitman Tommaso Rocchi has set himself a high target as he aims to reach his century of goals.

The former Juventus youth product came back to haunt the Bianconeri on Tuesday night as his winner in the 2-1 first-leg Coppa Italia semi-final kept hopes of silverware alive for the Roman club. Although Rocchi wants a trophy this season, he has also laid his eyes on reaching the 100 goal milestone, having now reached 80.

"One of my objectives is to reach 100 goals, and the possibilities of doing so are there," Rocchi told Radio Radio.

"However, to reach it, I need to have the same enthusiasm and will to always improve my game.

"I am really happy to be the fifth all-time top goalscorer here at Lazio, it's something to be proud of and a nice satisfaction."

Lazio travel to Napoli next as they look for more points which will help with their European push.

"It will be difficult to go there for the atmosphere that we will find," added the striker.

"However, we have to prepare mentally for the game as it will be complicated. Nevertheless, we will go there to try and get a result."

Just had a little check and Bet365 are showing the game.
When Bet365 shows it often means, probably 90% of the time, that all the others (justin, atdhe.. etc) do so as well, since most of these websites use similar streams.

Happy times. I see no reason why we can't conquer the San Paolo.

Is this true ? i mean is Carrizo that bad that we dont want him ? i think he is better than Muslera who is doing very well , but if i had to choose between them i would choose Carizzo.......
