Parma are in action tonight against Inter, so im looking forward to see how they respond to the slump that they are in.

Its time to inject some new life into the squad. Remove permanently the players that offer nothing. Its been said that Zarate should be dropped because he has not performed well. True, I agree. But by the same extension Baronio and Mauri almost never play well, and they are never dropped either. Remove them too, there lack of quality have cost us dear. Mauri's miss againt Udinese was school boy stuff, and against Catania at the weekend he successfully missed the target twice from what, 5 yards out. Baronio can't retain the ball, and he can can't cross or pass it either. Hopefully, in the middle of the 5 in midfield on Sunday Ledesma, Hitzlsberger and Matuzalem will start, or Brocchi. Enough of Baronio and Mauri.

they had a small match today with one team comprised of

Andrè Dias, Siviglia e Radu at the back with:
Lichtsteiner e Kolarov  on the wings
Brocchi e Hitzlsperger in between our favorite: Baronio
with Floccari and Rocchi up front.

The 2nd team was comprised of

Biava, Stendardo e Diakitè with Mauri and Dabo as make-shift wingers.  (technically Mauri was orignally a winger if its believable that he had a position before he came to us.)
with Matuzalem and Ledesma together in the midfield and Zarate and Foggia upfront.

Missing:  Cruz, Menghi, Del Nero

Interesting. Seems like Ledesma is certain to play some part, Tare earlier stating that he is at the disposal of Reja if he wants, according to sky sports 24.

I agree with most of you guys that zarate hasn't performe yet this year compare to last year, but now with the arrival of the new coach and a new game plan and tactic maybe we will see the zarate we were proud of last year. It will be a mistake for me if he is left out of the team at this period. But if he continues like he did so far then sid him on the bench

Parma playing today against Inter should benifit us greatly if they tire out so hope for a real battle.  Parma have some talent up front in Bojinov, Crespo, Paloschi which we will have to neutralize effectivly, they also have zaccardo and Panucci at the back too so they have a decent lineup for a team out of Serie B.  Since we don't have great defenders having a solid midfield without holes should compensate so I can't say the 3-5-2 is all that bad, we know our CB's can't defend well and make poor errors so mind as well stop the attack before it gets to them.

No, Tare, we are not THAT desperate that we want to play you on the field.

And just watched the Parma game, pretty decent stuff.

Btw, I'm a little bit extra worried now - Biabiany has got some serious GAME. I mean really, he could have a very successful career indeed. Anyway, just the thought of him versus our 'slow poke platoon' - Dias, Siviglia, Biava... mamma mia

The depth of their forward line is excellent. Bojinov is always dangerous, Paloschi of course. But Biabiany, the pace of him. You called it a week ago about him being a 'young Henry', and the comparison looks appropriate to me. Gave Lucio hell in that second half.

What a pace possess this boy! He looks very talented. I hope he doesn't play as good as today against us. And pretty good news the sending off of Valiani. He had pretty decent game before the sending off

You said in the other thread you weren't impressed by Parma. What standards you have

Any points, home or away to Inter you can gain is not to be sniffed at and, actually, should be considered an achievement. I'm sick of Inter. They have a winning mentality or at least a 'consistent points getting mentality' that Juve and AC Milan of old had.

To be honest I see Parma as favourites for the weekend - and understandably so. Just because we have a new manager doesn't really change my thoughts that a point will be more then acceptable - same with the next two games away to Palermo and at home to Viola. Have to be realistic here - Reja can only do so much, it's still the same players and THEY need to raise their game. But at least Edy will give his all, unlike his follically challenged predecessor.

Actually in the other thread I said "I am impressed with Parma in this match". Earlier in this thread I said I expect a hard match. So I don't know what u mean.

Anyway: by any means it would be a hard match. But new coach: big expectations. Isn't this right :)

After losing to Catania I had no expectations whatsoever even for a lucky draw. Now I am little more confident but I also see Parma as favourites for the weekend. Clearly, hoping for a win just because we have a new coach is not going to make it happen. I do not think we can even imagine the state of mind and mental condition of the squad. Even if Balla's departure should have been a tremendous relief and provide a glimmer of hope after the red zone alert and riot at Formello, Reja, as well know, has a gigantic task ahead of him. He only has a few days to put his system into effect and get acquainted with the players and the strengths and weaknesses of the squad. What I hope is that his presence will still have an impact and we be fit to fight a for a point and make it a good fight.

3-5-2 is what I expected from Reja. It will be interesting to see how he will shuffle the lineup in these couple of days. If I should hazard a guess, Mauri and Dabo will find their rightful places on the bench come Sunday instead of manning the flanks in midfield. It looks like the rest of the mid positions will be dealt out between Firmani, Brocchi, Ledesma, Roberto "I have become the new metronome" Baronio, Matuzalem and Hitzlsperger but I swear if Roberto "I am not going to tell you twice" Baronio finds a place in the starting 11... there really must be a sound tactical reason for it.

I am excited about the 3-5-2.  We do have two offensive-minded flank players (Lich and Kolerov) who will fit perfectly in the system.

           Muslera
   Dias Stendaro Radu
Lich                     Kolerov
        Hiltz   Ledesma
            Mauri
    Rocchi     Floccari

Bring in Zarate whether Rocchi/Mauri is not in shape
