This not about going down with the ship b/c we all went down with it since Rosina hit that wonderfully placed shot in game #1.
Yesterdays game should not even be up for discussion.  The main thing it proved yesterday was that even on Lazio's best day (meaning a healthy starting XI or first choice squad) we can't compete with an Inter squad of mostly reserves that was resigned to counter-attack us.
There's no point in saying Lazio played a great game of attacking football and deserved better b/c they deserved what they got.  No matter how many chances they got it just proved that Inter needs only one touch of the ball in the box to make a team pay.  There is no argument here we simply havent competed in Serie A this year.

Regardless of Ledesma scoring in the first minute does not change the outcome I truly believe b/c Inter would have just brough on Cruz earlier and forced us to defend against a lethal Inter squad.  We only have ourselves to blame that we didn't score a goal in leg #1 when Inter was resigned to let us attack in that game too.  No creativity= no goals.

The silver lining in yesterdays result is that we will now become sellers in the transfer market not buyers or standing pat, b/c lets face it if we made UEFA Lotito might be content to say listen we made UEFA Cup on the squad we have only minor aquistitions are necessary.  I agree with Latius that a firesale needs to take place.  New Players, New Coach, new mentality ...new stadium? It will take us a few seasons to finish top 4-6 again if we strip this team and build it around players like Pandev,DeSilvestri,Radu,Kolarov etc.  but i'd rather see that then wasting money on 30+yr old mediocre players to try and stop the bleeding.

We all remain Lazio fans till the end just sometimes its harder than others, this is one of the really, really, really hard times.  Hopefully July brings some hope.

Anyone know what place we would have to finish to allow us to apply for the Inter-toto cup?

If the Coppa Italia final is Roma vs Inter then i think we will be chosen for the UEFA cup spot since both Inter and Roma are definates for the Champions league. Catania could overtake us in the league which might put them in the spot, although i'm not sure about this, it might even be head to head matches in which case would be 2-1 for us.

We don't deserve to go to UEFA cup, what s the point if you can't even compete.  This season has been hard not particularily in just the team struggling but the fact that we came from 3rd and every game this season starting the game with a glimmer of hope and being broken by the end.  It's not hatred against the team but frustration because this organization S.S. LAZIO deserves better. 07

Not that i'd want to see it happen but this team deserves to be relegated more than it ever deserves a uefa spot. I dont think this team should be replacing a team that actually deserved to make it by playing well in the season and getting good standings.

Was at the Lazio-Internazionale game and thought that the team played fairly well, but gave up psychologically far too early in the match. Once Ledesma hit the bar several times and too many through balls to our forwards went straight to the keeper, the team seemed to slow down and become outright sluggish. Nevertheless, the crowd atmosphere was outstanding. Virtually the entire stadium were filled with Laziale and there was a very positive atmosphere thoughout.
Before jumping ship, look at a few key factors in the game:
1. Internazionale were unbelievably cynical and guilty of an absurd number of tactical fouls against the ragazzi. Not that Delio Rossi should have expected any less, but this performance by Inter was almost stomach turning. The entire stadium almost exploded with every touch by Materazzi. (It is amost like the old saying: 'Kick everything on the field; if it is the ball, even better'.)
You could also see this from the attitude of the fans. At the beginning, it was almost fraternal, with first Inter and then Lazio curvas exchanging the 'Whoever does not jump is a Roma fan'. When Inter fans tried it again at the end of the match, they were hissed by the rest of the stadium and riot police had to keep Lazio fans from taking at the supporters of Internazionale.
2. The Inter fielded was far from a D side. The scary part about Inter is that they do not have a D side, even their irregulars are players we generally cannot match. It was not reasonable to expect any victory other than one where we kept a clean sheet. The side's inability to keep possession in the second half ultimately killed off whatever chances we had of winning.
3. So what if we did not win the Coppa Italia! So what if we lost to Palermo and might even lose next weekend! We were not relegated, we won the second derby and were competitive in the first AND produced some wonderful moments all season. I am not satisfied with results on the field either, but it is important to maintain the FEDE. I remember when Venezia went down sometime in the 1990s, deservedly, and their fans at least provided a great moment: Noi fede non retrocede! (Our faith will not go down!)

100, 1000, 1000000%

I am not happy with the season either, but I don't think it was a complete disaster. We played some very good games in the CL, won the second derby and I think we have not had very much luck either.
