  VS

Putting Sundays match behind us will be a serious task and an unforgettable match hopefully replaced by one that can inspire us soon. Beating samp won't be the cure for the heartache, frustration or rage the fans have endured after yesterdays match. If there was any bit of hope left in us yesterday that this team might be this years dark horse and all it needed was to get it's act together, well .. yesterday that all changed.

The honeymoon of having zarate and carizzo, two saviours of the season is now over. We now look at these players for what they truely are and from yesterdays performance they have a long way to go before these players can get the comparisons they recieved when we first got them. Zarate better than Messi ? Carizzo the next Buffon ? .. highley unlikely. I don't think the pressure should be put on these two players only but the reality is that they are not what they were first marketed to be. Zarate's scoresheet is now collecting dust and maybe he was able to 'set up' some goals .. but in the end.. i want a striker that can score not a guy who knows how to pass balls in the box and can slolam through a defense only to lose the ball. I'll trade that fanciness for a goal scorer as well. I don't mean to cruciy Zarate but the reality is he's not the saviour of this club.

I think it's time we stick with two strikers and focus on defending and our midfield than trying to score goals.

If there is one team that has as much to be upset about is Sampdoria. This is a team that we probably thought at the beginning of the season would be our UEFA spot contenders and they have dropped down the table with only 20 points hovering with a 7 point margin over relegation zone.

The only team I can say is at par with our dissapointment or i'm sure exceeding our seasons disspointment is Udinese. A team that held the first place spot for a couple weeks only to fall all the way to the 14th spot on the table. I mean how dissapointed must there fans be after probably thinking to themselves like us "Imagine we win the whole thing ?".

I would normally say that we should look at Samp as hungry opponents because they haven't won in ages. But I think after Sunday's pathetic display of the worst Lazio seen in years, this team better be motivated to beat Samp 10 to nothing and be able to take 3 points from milan.

Teams like Bologna, Atalanta, Reggina were able to hold the giants at some point. But Lazio ??? we scrounged our points off small teams to pick up our 31 points none of which are convincing to say we deserve a CL spot.

I think we need to look ahead now and hope that this team can revive itself like we've done the second half last season and at least gain a UEFA spot or win the Coppa Italia and leave the CL spots for the teams that truley have what it takes to make it. Like someone wrote in this forum, can you imagine if it was Man U or Chelsea we were playing .. this team would have been humiliated .. and at this point I really don't think I want to see this team embarassed like that unless we can be convinced that we can at least beat the big teams in Serie A.

After my depressing/negative/frustrated/enraged post.. I will keep my head up always as a Lazio Fan and HOPE that midweek bears us 3 points and HOPE next week restores our faith a little that this team has what it takes.

FORZA LAZIO!  00 00 00 00

Sunday showed is just how far we have to go before we can even contemplate playing well in the UEFA cup, let alone the champions league. It is true that we were in it last season but the league is much stronger now and at the moment i think that we can forget about it for the time being, because we will only, on that performance at least, be embarresed.

We should still aim for the Europe in the UEFA cup and the game against Sampdoria will give the team a chance to regain pride before Milan visit the olimpico. We must take 3 points from this one, the table is so tight between 10th and 4th place, about eight points, that one win should move us up a bit and bring some much needed confidence back to the squad. If we dont win this one, then we could see ourself mirroring Udineses fall with games against Milan and Fiorentina next. Samp though are in crisis, with Sammarco and Pazzini suspended i think. Last night against Inter they played with eight midfielders as all there defenders were injured so we have the perfect opportunity.

As far as team selection goes we should play 4-4-2. Rocchi should sit out at first and Foggia, Meghni, Dabo and Ledesma should start unless matuzalem is fit. If he is fit play him. Kolarov in my view should be dropped. He has little interest in defending and this is not the sort of game where we can leave holes at the back. At the back i would go for De Silvestri, Cribari, Diakhite and Radu. Rossi needs to shake it up to get a reaction  out of the squad, Jose Mourinho did after Inter took a pounding. For me this will be an interesting game to judge Rossi on and how he responds to that disaster we had to endure on sunday afternoon.

I would choose this Formation against Samp:

                      Carrizo

Lichtsteiner  Diakite Rozahnal  Radu

                  Matuzalem
      Dabo                         Kolarov
                     Foggia

            Pandev       Zarate

Subs: Muslera, De Silvestri, Cribari, Mauri, Ledesma,Rocchi, Inzaghi;

This would be something new, maybe it would work?

I like your lineup for the most part but here's my modification of it:

Carrizo

Lichtsteiner  Diakite Rozahnal  Radu

                  Matuzalem
Desilvestri                         Kolarov
                     Foggia

            Pandev       Zarate

I hope Matu is back for this game. If he isn't then lotito should really consider purchasing his replacement in the remaining mercato days. There is no point waiting for this guy to finally get better and hope he actually lives up to expectations.

I like your ideas about Kolarov playing further forward. As of yet the guy cant defend. But he can cross, has pace and can shoot. De Silvestri further forward also makes sense as he can cross also. But rossi wont drop Ledesma, no way i cant see him doing that at all. I think he will start with Foggia, he has to he cant use Mauri after sunday and Brocchi also will be dropped surley for Dabo/ Ledesma. I think this game puts us at a cross roads. If we win, maybe we will go forward and achieve what we want from the season. Defeat? I hope not but with a tough schedule coming up it could be all over for us sooner rather than later. I hope this doesnt happen, we dont deserve it as fans weve put up with enough shit over the last four or five years or so

Guys, we really haven't been performing lately... Lets really change things........

Solid compact midfield..(won't conceed 4 goals thats for sure!) + New look attack (guarantees goals):

                      Carrizo

Lichtsteiner  Diakite  Rozahnal  Radu

               Ledesma   Dabo

                   Matuzalem

       Pandev                  Zarate

                     Inzaghi

This is actually not a bad lineup because realistically Inzaghino is a point man like rocchi and even his brother pippo. We really have nothing to lose from this formation and I would give up rocchi's time for pippo because pandev and zarate can do what rocchi can't and that's create opportunities. I think it might be something to consider and give ol' inzaghino a chance.

Those formation won't work, c'mon look at Inzaghino mid, who in hell will pass balls. WE MUST QUIT TRIDENTE ALREADY. Play more balance 4-4-2 formation that works in attack and also in defense. We have big problem in our defense, to be exact the left side and the central position. Rossi is a full and now I read that when we took him from Atalanta, Atalanta was relegated. However here is my suggestion for the team and don't forget that we play away so no more attacking formations.

                          Carizzo

Lich        Cribari         Rozendhal/Sivigla  DeSilvestri

Foggia    Dabo/Matuzalem      Ledesma   Zarate

            Pandev          Rocchi

To explain my self. Sivigla is there as a option coz he has been playing alongside with Criba or Roze and can understand more good. Criba is here coz we get 3 goals from header last match. Ledesma or Dabo will be there to defend against contra attacks and help defense and we will push our attack down both flanks and there will be more useful balls for Pandev and Rocchi. Like this oponent can't cover the both wings and also watch Pa-RO so we will brake everyone defense and have more balanced attack. IMO ZA PA RO is more useful then the TRIDENTE.

^^ yeah, I like this lineup JoFO. Let's go back to the 4-4-2 and be reasonable.

Inzaghi has been loyal to the club, we cant fault him there but he has no place in the starting eleven at all. Infact the mere suggestion of him starting from Rossi would only disprove Lotitos theory that they are bringing the club forward. The trident does not work, there is no cover in midfield and as people have pointed out correctly who will pass the ball? One of the stirkers is going to have to be content with the bench or a position in midfield, perhaps on the wing. I would go with Jo Fos line up, except replace Rozenhal with Diakhite. Rozenhal was at fault for the first two goals, nowhere near marking the opposition tight enough against Cagliari. He should be dropped, and made to think about the blue shirt that he wheres as he is better than the performance he put in on sunday

I agree, this formation seems more useful like you said JoFo. However, Do you think rossi will choose this one?

Never, anti-roma and you know why. He sees the bad results, he sees good players and can't get what is the problem and pull stupid moves (desperate times call for desperate measures). I guess he is not smart enough to see that he is the problem and resign.
