Zarate was already on cards, he may be missing the next match if anything comes of this.

Looks like somethings happening in the tunnel in front of the refs room.....this is exactly what we need a huge fine and a few suspensions to finish things off with dignity and class.

and btw, who is this jackass commentating the game...."Pandev dove like a fairy" and at the end there he says "we'll leave the Italians to their handbags..." what an asshole.....a little professionalism would be nice.

Lazio officially 10th and the merde officially in line (5th) to grab the CL spot. Worst day of the season so far. Last week comes second.

ROSSI LEAVE! SIVIGLIA LEAVE! MAURI LEAVE! LEDESMA LEAVE!

Bring in a whole new team!!!!!

GOD DAMIT, we opened this season with a win 1-4 agains Cagliari then beat Sampdoria and we said yes we can achieve CL and that's how it seemed, but mby that was a BAD ILUSION OR WTF. I think no one is like us ( lazio supporters ) we love this club so much and support it in all ways we can but no one don't give a f** bout us. Lotito should replace Rossi as soon as possible, is he blinded? can't he see Rossi tactics are useless? or he's sleeping with him ? mby, everything is possible! Damn! I hope for better days !

woah! relaz now, let's not throw out the baby with the bath water. Frankly, i don't believe that evry one of our starting eleven are the worst in the league, far from it. We need a strong d or two, another midfielder and a new coach ....and maybe a new goalie - at least a backup to give Carizzo some support.

I didn't literally mean let's sell the whole team because we do have a handful of decent players. There is not a shred of dignity left with this team that they are a contending team in any way for anything.

In our defense: desilvestri, lichsteiner, radu are strong players and even rozehnal is pretty consistent.

Our mid is where the problem is .. not one ... and i really mean one is actually above average and consistent.

Our strikers i still have faith in .. rocchi and pandev still score and zarate i think just needs time.

I'm not sure what you mean by a backup to give carizzo support, i think muslera has done his job as a keeper even keeping us alive in the coppa.

Carizzo has let in way too many goals this season and either he needs to be loaned out, kept as our backup or completely replaced but should not in any way be our first string keeper.

Last but not least the coach must go. Worst formations along with even worse strategy. He is done.

I'm not sure how anyone can be optimistic and say "well we still have half the seson to go" .. i really don't see us coming out of this. We simply can't beat better teams and clearly we struggle against smaller teams... and we are quickly joining the category "smaller teams".

I hope the fans in italy keep protesting and maybe it will get through that this team needs to wake up and lotito needs to fire rossi. I always thought he was a good coach but just didnt have the resources but clearly when given better resources he fails.

If we lose to milan saturday we will be talking about avoiding relegation before we talk about UEFA.

From channel4:

Sampdoria ended their crisis with an Antonio Cassano corker, but Lazio are crumbling despite Nestor Muslera's penalty save.

Both teams were verbally abused by their own fans this week after dismal results. Samp had one point from five games, while Lazio were embarrassed 4-1 at home by Cagliari at the weekend. Curiously, the Blucerchiati had not scored on home turf in Serie A since November 23.

Antonio Cassano recovered from a neck problem, but Giampaolo Pazzini and Paolo Sammarco sat out a ban. There was an injury crisis at the back with Pietro Accardi, Andrea Raggi and Hugo Campagnaro sidelined.

Lazio started with a bang, as both Tommaso Rocchi and Ousmane Dabo had shots charged down for a corner.

However, Sampdoria took the lead after 13 minutes. A long Reto Ziegler free kick found Gennaro Delvecchio totally unmarked at the back post to volley in. Goalkeeper Nando Muslera was caught out by the set play and left rooted to his line.

Moments later Samp lost Padalino to injury and Pandev fired over from a promising position.

Rocchi drew Lazio level with a well-taken goal, as Cristian Ledesma's pass was chested down for a smart half-volley.

Cassano wasted the chance to restore Sampdoria's advantage, as his first touch let him down when sent one-on-one with Muslera by Angelo Palombo.

On the stroke of half-time Rocchi stung Luca Castellazzi's gloves with a right-foot rocket.

Mauro Zarate replaced Rocchi for the second half and immediately created a good chance, but it was Cassano who hit the back of the net with a stunner! He nutmegged one defender at the byline, cut past another and smashed the angled drive into the far top corner with his right foot.

Sampdoria took control moments later. A Cassano corner kick found Marius Stankevicius totally unmarked for a free header from seven yards.

Cassano earned a penalty for a late Lichtsteiner challenge, but Muslera saved Claudio Bellucci's spot-kick and Dessena pushed the follow-up wide!

Soon after, the referee pointed to the spot for Gastaldello's tackle on Zarate, but he changed his mind after consulting with the linesman, as the Sampdoria defender clearly got the ball.

There was a brawl in stoppages when Pasquale Foggia brought down Dessena, but Zarate came flying in and the scuffle took in several players from both teams. There were six bookings, including ones for Bellucci and Cassano, who came off the bench to protest.
Sampdoria: Castellazzi; Stankevicius, Lucchini, Gastaldello; Padalino (Dessena 15), Delvecchio, Palombo, Ziegler, Pieri; Cassano (Marilungo 76), Bellucci (Mustacchio 90)

Lazio: Muslera; Lichtsteiner, Siviglia, Cribari, Radu; Dabo, Ledesma, Meghni (Matuzalem 73); Mauri (Foggia 62); Pandev, Rocchi (Zarate 46)

Ref: Ayroldi

Missed penalty: Bellucci 64 (S)

That save should get muslera into the starting 11. He was able to save a PK and Carizzo who was this long awaited superstar couldn't save 2. Granted PK's are total luck but I think muslera has been doing well with the little chances given. I think we should loan out both Carizzo and Zarate and have them come back when they actually prove themselves. In the meantime we need players who are at the Serie A level.

DELIO ROSSI!!! RESIGN PLZ !!!

I think he should.
It is better we get a new coach now that will also take us into next season.....for me, the season is over.....uefa cup place will be a miracle.
The morale and confidence of the players are down, forget what they will come and tell us in the press.

I cant watch the game actually because of connection problem, but when I read the posts, I can see that it is not important to watch the match to be able guess rossi' tactic. I am not surprised with losing. As long as rossi is coach this team, I dont expect anything from Lazio.... as day passes, I am getting angry . If rossi want to do something for team, the only thing left.... RESIGN anymore.

Rossi refutes crisis talk
Thursday 29 January, 2009

“We are going through a difficult time,” admitted Rossi. “But I am convinced that the real value of this team will show itself.”

What is we've already seen the real value of this team ? In fact, I've been waiting all season to see any value from this team except for a couple games but then even teams that are in relegation zone had some pretty impressive games against big clubs.
