VS Although the high of the derby is not even remotely over, it's time to look ahead at another tough match away against Genoa. Genoa has had nothing short of a great season putting many teams to shame after only entering Serie A two years ago. From Lazio's perspective winning the derby might have found the motivation this team needs. This team was capable of not only winning on the weekend but with class. Lazio are now without Matuzalem after getting a red card in the derby. Hopefully this might open the door for Meghni. Genoa also had a great weekend beating Juventus without top goal scorer Milito. I expect the derby thread to still go strong even though I made this post for the next match. FORZA LAZIO!

Genoa has been beaten once at home...by Inter. This will be a very tough match and a tie would be more than sufficient espescially if, as I suspect, we will field a sub squad in preparation for the Juve match on Wednesday.

It is a fact that victory against merda bring smile back to our faces after a long time. But I still dont change my mind, derby was just a derby. I wonder how many of us or all Laziale think that we can make 6th spot. Sometimes, circumstances can make difference, just like in derby but for next, to be honest, this team always astonished us this season, and we saw the same thing a few times. So, even if we pass Genoa, can we pass Inter, Juve or others? To hope something from league position is dream, only hope is coppa.
As to Genoa side, I watched their last game against Juventus and I can say that they never gave it up. Genao is flash team of season but no t because of luck, they play well and, beside everthing, they have ambition, desire, teamsoil. They deserved where they are now.
I wish I could say that derby would open a new page, but everytime I said this in this season, I always disappointed. So, either lose, tie or win wont be surprise for me... or how we will play as well. I hope we win, I hope our boys can show what they have and their real powers and abilities.
FORZA LAZIO

Genoa have only been beaten by Inter at home and have beat the big teams at home as well, such as Milan 2-0 and Juve last week. Thiago Motta is perhaps the best midfielder in Serie A right now and they have a very good team with Palladino, Sculli, Mesto, Jankovic and of course Milito. But we should be confident. If we impose ourselves on the game we can get something out of it. We have to win two away games if we want to even be near six place between now and the end of the season so it has to be here as away at Inter and Juve will be very difficult. Were without Matuzalem and I think Ledesma is suspended as well I may be wrong about that so we will have a makeshift midfield but it can be done, Genoa's bubble has to burst somewhen, I think we can burst it.

Ohhh. Hard game but winning it will mean a lot for the upcoming games. We must get every single point till the end of the season if we want that Uefa spot. Merda is only 5 points above us but I'm not so optimistic about that. I think our only hope is coppa. I would like to see that things are changing after the derby game and that that's the missing link that we need it.

Genoa are having a great season will be hard to defeat them but if we killed Roma that will give us added confidence which should help us defeat Genoa. I hope. 00

If we can take a victory it will be without doubt our best result of the season. If we can take a point, it will be our second best result of the season. Frankly, when we go to Turin or the San Siro, (cup game was a nice shock and hopefully will be in the future ) I never expect anything but a complete defeat, and 95% of the time it's true. Genoa haven't the class of either of those three teams but without question, as much as it annoys me to say, they deserve to be where they are above all because of their team spirit which from the 1st round of games has been spot on - they by no means have a whole squad of players that could walk in to the aforementioned three clubs, but Genoa's strength lies in their, ironically, fascist layout whereby the team relies on the collective, rather then the team relying on individual performances. The game should, I expect, be streamed on the usual places because of it's huge nature, and because Juve and Inter meet, so we should all be able to watch and see what our Rome heroes truly are made of.

This team are very good. I would be happy with a point even tho it may knock on th head our chances of th uefa spot because it would show improvement. If we win this game, which is entirely possible, I believe we'll have th momentum to catch th merda Forza Lazio!! 06

What happened to Meghni and Radu. Two decent players who have gone awol. I would included them in the lineup for sure this weekend since we'll be missing Matuzalem and give Kolarov a rest for the Juve match. I've always had faith in Kolarov and I think he will become a great over time. I think we need to put out a second string team yet try and rest and prepare our best players for the coppa.
Something like:
Carizzo
DeSil Siviglia Cribari Radu
Manfredini Ledesma Brocchi
Meghni
Foggia Rocchi
Not the most unattractive formation but let's face it the juve match is do or die for us and we need to come out on top.

Smart formation, I dont care Genoa as much as I care juve match. Coppa seems the only chance for UEFA spot, league is done for us anymore. I hope Rossi wont make bullshit movements for this match.

Matuzalem banned for three matches. Serie A: Heavy bans imposed Tuesday 14 April, 2009 Diego Lopez and Felipe Melo have been handed big bans for their post Fiorentina-Cagliari brawl and there are post-Rome derby repercussions. Lopez and Melo exchanged blows in the tunnel after the final whistle of Fiorentina's 2-1 win over Cagliari on Saturday. Sports judge Giampaolo Tosel found them both guilty of: “hitting an opponent in the face in the dressing room,” and a five-game ban has been imposed on the two. Tosel also reacted harshly against Lazio midfielder Francelino Matuzalem and Roma defender Philippe Mexes, who were dismissed for a spat in the 75th minute of the Derby della Capitale. The two men have been suspended for three games, while Roma Coach Luciano Spalletti is banned for a game for protests at referee Emidio Morganti and Lazio team manager Igli Tare is banned until April 20 for provoking Spalletti. Milan boss Carlo Ancelotti has been let off for his protests during the win over Chievo while Walter Zenga has been fined £5,000 for his angry words during Torino-Catania.
