Lazio's Stefano Mauri Tells Inter: We Will Win The Italian Supercup Lazio's talismanic midfielder has warned Inter not to expect an easy ride in two weeks... Lazio midfielder Stefano Mauri is ready to vindicate last season's Coppa Italia win by adding the Italian Supercup to the trophy cabinet.
The Aquilotti clash with Inter at the Olympic stadium in Beijing on August 8 to contest the trophy. Mauri is full of confidence and is hoping that his side pummel the champions.
"We want to win the Supercup, as it would give us plenty of motivation for the season ahead in Serie A and in Europe," Mauri told Datasport.it.
"I am satisfied with the way pre-season has been going and I hope to prove my worth on the pitch. The team is competitive and, although I cannot make promises, I can guarantee the fans that we will do our best."
The Italian midfielder enjoyed a good term with the Bianconcelesti and he will be rewarded with a new deal.
"It [the contract] is now a formality. My agent is speaking with the club and we will resolve everything soon," concluded Mauri.
Hopefully he'll be on the bench when we do. You wish! He may just be an important part of Balla plan for the game and for the season.

Lazio Drop Goran Pandev From Supercoppa Italiana Squad - Report The want-away striker has been dropped from the trip to China amid reports he has made a transfer request... Lazio have dropped Goran Pandev from the squad that will face Inter in the Supercoppa Italiana on August 8 in Beijing.
According to Il Corriere Dello Sport, the Macedonian striker will not be part of the 25 man squad that will travel to China after he asked president Claudio Lotito for a transfer.
The report suggests Pandev met with the president in order to discuss his future. Lotito offered Pandev a contract extension as he risks losing him on a free transfer when the player's deal expires next year. However, the hitman was in no mood to stay on.
Lotito has already warned Pandev before - on Thursday he told Sky Sport Italia, "Would you employ someone who doesn't feel at the centre of a project?"
Zenit St. Petersburg, Napoli and Juventus have all been linked with the hitman, however, Lotito also revealed that he has not received any bids for his man.
Juve could yet rekindle their interest in the forward amid new reports emerging from Turin, which claim David Trezeguet may join Milan.
Lazio's move to drop Pandev comes just a week after Lotito warned he would "nail players that wanted to leave to the bench".
Despite the report, the Aquilotti have not confirmed that Pandev will be dropped. The Roman club will announce their squad officially on Tuesday.

Lazio Coach Davide Ballardini Gearing Up For Super Cup Clash With Inter The tactician says Lazio have what it takes to upset the Nerazzurri, but he’s still unsure whether the three ‘rebels’ will be on the flight to Beijing... Scudetto holders Inter and Coppa Italia winners Lazio will come face to face in Beijing on August 8 in the League Super Cup, the traditional curtain raiser of the Italian football season.
New Lazio boss Davide Ballardini is hoping to celebrate his official debut on the Aquile bench in style and is leaving no stone unturned in the build-up, even though the Nerazzurri will be without Barcelona-bound Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
“It doesn’t matter, they are still one of the best teams in the world, but you’ll see that we will do well,” Ballardini told Il Messaggero.
“We’ll be ready for this date, I am convinced of it. It’s a final and we will honour it in the best possible way. Am I studying Inter? I respect them, but I first think of my players.”
Cristian Ledesma, Lorenzo De Silvestri and Goran Pandev have all asked to move on this summer and the trio could be left out of the squad that travels to China to be named by Wednesday.
“They have been training hard, showing great professionalism,” mused the former Palermo coach.
“I can just say that we will have to evaluate several different things pertaining to the club, technical and human factors.”

I like the sound of this.

I guess we can all pretty much assume the fate of pandev, ledesma and lollo by the fact that they were left out of the super cup match. This isn't good news considering pandev and ledesma are regulars. Lollo didn't get much playing time despite being a strong player. Hopefully a miracle happens before august 8th and we can find viable replacements.

Is it confirmed that all three were left out or will be left out.

Contrary to popular believe I actually think Inter will be much stronger from the Ibra sale, Eto'o is world class, perhaps the best goal scoring forward in the world, and Milito looked devastating last night when they beat Milan 2-0. They will probably have someone else in their squad by the time they play us, maybe Cassano. We can win as the new players may not have gelled by then whereas most of ours know each other well. Looks like im working for this one also, cant get the day off. Im hoping its repeated on the TVU networks later. 04

I may be pessimistic, but not too far from reality...
If we do not lose confidence for the upcoming season because of the possible outcome of this game, I will be satisfied.
Inter has a winning coach with almost the same squad, if not better, from last year. We have a new coach, a new system, and a bunch of unsettled players.

Davide Ballardini Excludes Wantaway Lazio Players From Super Cup Preparations - Report The Aquile's potential leavers are at risk of missing the final in ten days' time... In or out? It is now time to make the choices as Davide Ballardini prepares to complete his shortlist of players ahead of the Supercoppa Italiana against Inter in ten days' time.
According to Corriere dello Sport, the Lazio boss tried out a 4-4-2 system on Monday afternoon, with the notable absences of Goran Pandev, Christian Ledesma and Lorenzo De Silvestri. With all three out for the first time in pre-season, it now looks likely that they could miss out on the trip to Beijing as the Roman club gear up for the Italian Super Cup.
With Ballardini making it clear that he demands “happy players, proud to wear the shirt”, it seems that the former Palermo tactician is ready to find alternatives as Lazio bid to lift their first piece of silverware in the new season.
As Ledesma prepares to stay at home, it now looks like Roberto Baronio could be given his chance following a spirited start to pre-season. With Ballardini’s reputation for making the best with what he has, it looks like more returnees in the Biancocelesti squad could eventually find themselves back in contention.
