Wouldn't it be funny if Cruz scores a ton of goals against his former team in the supercoppa .. doubt it or they probably would have kept him .. but hopefully he and zarate can create some damage up front.

Ledesma stunned by Lazio snub
Saturday 1 August, 2009
Cristian Ledesma has been left stunned by Lazio's decision to leave him out of the Italian Super Cup in Beijing.

“I spoke with Cristian and he will later express his feelings on the matter, but he certainly did not expect this,” commented agent Vincenzo D'Ippolito.

The Argentine is one of three 'dissidents' along with Goran Pandev and Lorenzo De Silvestri who have demanded transfers this summer, but are yet to find new clubs.

With that in mind, they have been left out of the trip to China for the Italian Super Cup against Inter on August 8.

“He is an exemplary professional. Considering the way pre-season training was going, he didn't see this coming at all. He had already become a key player for the new-look team.

“I assume the club will call Cristian in the next few days for a meeting and he can give them his side of the story.”

Lazio have left behind Pandev, De Silvestri and Ledesma, but have brought along Julio Ricardo Cruz, who just completed his move from Inter.

Cruz was out of contract and will make his official debut in the Biancocelesti shirt against his former club.

Lazio bring Cruz to Beijing
Friday 31 July, 2009
Julio Cruz is in the Lazio squad travelling to Beijing for the Italian Super Cup against old club Inter, but ‘dissidents’ including Goran Pandev are out.

Cruz’s name appeared in the squad list released by the Biancocelesti for the August 8 game before he was officially confirmed as one of their players.

It has now been stated he has signed a one-year contract with an option for a second after passing his medical.

Il Jardinero will be travelling to China with his new teammates and make his official debut against his former club.

Cruz is out of contract after his deal with Inter expired and had been considering offers from the likes of Roma and Napoli, but has chosen Lazio.

If he is in the side, then the same cannot be said of the three ‘dissidents’ in the Aquile – Pandev, Lorenzo De Silvestri and Cristian Ledesma.

This trio have all requested a transfer, but so far have not been able to find a club willing to meet the price-tag.

Pandev had begged to be given the chance to take part in the Italian Super Cup, but is left behind by Coach Davide Ballardini.

The Super Cup is between Scudetto winners Inter and Coppa Italia victors Lazio, but is taking place at the Olympic Birds’ Nest stadium in Beijing this year.

Lazio squad: Muslera, Bizzarri; Cribari, Diakitè, Kolarov, Lichtsteiner, Radu, Scaloni, Siviglia; Baronio, Brocchi, Dabo, Foggia, Matuzalem, Mauri, Meghni, Eliseu; Del Nero, Inzaghi, Rocchi, Cruz, Zarate

These are below average or below average players:

scaloni, baronio, mauri, inzaghi, delnero, dabo, meghni, siviglia .. not really many players left is there ?

This is why I have no faith in this team in beijing... sorry!

We're entering the competition with the same weak defense as last year. Why is bengsston not on the roster ?

We don't buy him, yet. His Agent said that they are in talk with Lazio but there is contract yet.

He is expected in the next day or two.

"scaloni, baronio, mauri, inzaghi, delnero, dabo, meghni, siviglia .. not really many players left is there ?"

This is absolute deadwood, no value at all with possible exception to dabo as a bench player.  We may not be able to sell some of these players to Serie A teams but Serie B is just as good for most of them and we can at least get some money back.  Lotito is a very good with finance but sometimes has to just take a small loss on some of these players in order for a long term gain that will value the club.

Inter has had a few more Big Match preseason games like against AC Milan.  We have been playing Tristina/SPAL, Not the greatest preperation.

We are definitley going to need Bengsston, have not read much but from what I have read easily to replace our current central D.  Our Defence is shit but our side backs are actuall very good.  2 central defenders and a Defensive/playmaker mid-fielder and this team is really competitive.

I agree, its taken a while but finally the only really bad part of our side is the central D. Sort that out a we have a legitimate top six side.

Mallorca wants Scaloni, but it's being reported that Ballardini really likes his professionalism, seriousness and experience on the team and is pushing to keep him on the team. Boh?

Lazio's Tommaso Rocchi Can't Wait To Play Inter In Supercoppa Italiana
The Lazio forward is ready and raring to go ahead of the season's curtain-raiser in Beijing...
The Biancocelesti are currently in China preparing for the Italian Super Cup on Saturday, and captain Tommaso Rocchi insists the Lazio team are ready to take on champions Inter.

"We are ready and hoping to go back home with the trophy," Rocchi told Radio Radio.

"We are approaching the game with great enthusiasm and want to do well, because it is crucial to start the season on the right foot. We will try our utmost because there is so much warmth and affection from both the Chinese and Roman people."

From the team's training camp, Rocchi welcomed Lazio's new striker, Julio Cruz, and made his intentions for the season clear. The 31-year-old has scored 83 goals for Lazio and is hoping to join an elite group who have scored over 100 in the Biancocelesti shirt.

"I want to score and I'm hoping to start on Saturday," he continued.

"[Cruz] is an important purchase, he is a very good player who has different characteristics to other attackers."

Rocchi also commented on the three 'rebels' back in Rome, lamenting the discord between the club and his team-mates.

"It's a shame. Unfortunately a situation has been created and we need to bring it to an end, hopefully when we return to Rome it will be resolved one way or the other. I don't know how it will turn out, it depends on both parties," Rocchi concluded.
