André Dias has joined SS Lazio for three and half years...

Our latest signing André Dias (30) is a Brazilian central defender from Sao Paulo. He has been playing in Brazil's Serie A for his entire senior career and won three consecutive championships 2006-2008 wearing the Sao Paulo jersey. He has been awarded Bola de Prata for being the best central defender in the league two times in a row and consequently earned a place in the Serie A Team of the Year as well in 2008 and 2009.

Welcome André.

This is a sad day. We have a Juan in our hands.

I don't know him. And Theo give him a chance.

Welcome to the club! I hope now Siviglia doesn't get playing time at all!

No point at all. He'll be shit. I've never been so certain of anything in my life. Garbage signing. Fuck off back to Brazil.

Curse the Finnish one (only a little bit, no harm please) for including that at the top. Tell me, have you seen any Brazilian football games? Not only is the standard appalling but there is basically no defending. So to be the best defender in that league is like being best striker in the Luxembourg Premier Division. It means fuck all.

If you like, although I gather nor you or I want, we can have a debate about how many Brazilian CB's are actually decent. But what you'll find is that the adequate ones left Brazilian football for riches at an early age. To be there all your life, and to come to my (our) Lazio at the age of THIRTY?

Btw, if he is Brazilian defender of the year x amount of times, why no call up to the NT?

That in itself says enough. He is going to have perform like Maldini to get any support from me. I know full well he is going to be a disaster to the levels of Makinwa.

No mercy for the poor Brasilianer, huh? There is a lot of truth in your words but I still say: give him a chance. Not always that is the case. See Martin Palermo for example. Never played in Europe and still he scores like hell. Of course he is nor defender not Brasilian but still: I hope he brings at least a little quality.

Off topic: for Biava I share your opinion: why bring under mediocre 32 year old defender???

I share Theo's enthusiasm for Brazilian centre backs and I am not excited about getting Dias. His merits as the best defender of the Brazilian Serie A are naturally worth mentioning but should not be taken as a guarantee for quality in the true Serie A at the age of thirty. Still, I am alright with him until he proves himself to be worse than Siviglia and Diakite.

Heh, Palermo is a terrible example... does not apply whatsoever, because Palermo left Argentina, sucked in Europe, so went back. Really, that was a terrible thing. Don't worry, I get your point mate, I should be more optimistic. But if you can see a lot of truth in what I say, and knowing me a little as you do, you know it'll be hard for me to do that.
I'm leaving this forum until much much later. Hopefully they'll be a crumb of comfort I can take from this bastardized mercato upon my return. Inabit.

This Dias guy sounds shit. 30 years old, never played for any big teams or the NT. How's this guy better than Cribari ? Lotito just dragging this team to its knees.

Dias = the new Vignaroli, he's just a filler to make it look like effort was made. Definitely not even worth mentioning.

Sign Ederson at least and i'd say this mercato was somewhat successful.

I dont get it. If you're going to get a player who's both old and has no experience .. why not get him on loan and see how he performs. He's 30!!!! .. and we signed him for 3 years ????

I've never heard of this guy before! Not another Eliseu!

I hope he's solid! I doubt it though...

Lotito just dragging this team to its knees.

He is doing exactly that. Its been said that he didnt respond to Inters final offer on Ledesma quick enough because he couldn't swallow his pride. We're on the verge of relegation, in need of money to buy someone decent and this prick again cannot do the right thing for the club.  It just shows that he will never take this team back to where it deserves to be, its all about him and filling his big fat ego.
