Happy 31st Birthday to one of the most frustrating players to watch.

All you have to do is look at some of our anger throughout this thread to this man.  Countless sitters, missed opportunities, you've definitely given us a lot of acid in the stomach over the last 5 years.

However today I will salute you for some great bicycle kick goals, great through balls, and even better hair.

Buon Compleano Stefano

Look who's back in training...

<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_ys9cttjie0" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_ys9cttjie0</a>

After one more consultation with his German Doctor, The man affectionately known as Horseface returns to the disposal of Reja.

Mauri will continue in effect to work with his teammates to get back at the disposal of Mr. Reja after a few weeks. Really good news for coach Gorizia which can then retrieve an important piece for the final rush, a unique player in the squad for Lazio, one of those able to shift the balance. Waiting for his complete return to the SS Lazio through its official facebook page has put online this video of the homecoming.

Now we can get back to cursing him sooner rather than missing him.  I know a lot of people miss him and feel he's the missing link.

Until candreva's adaptation complete, Mauri is the man who can back up and help hernanes in attack. He will play at right and lulic at left. Consequently, our right flank will weaker than before. Reja should put gonzales as DM to help konko in defend.

Agreed.  Something like this

            Klose
         Hernanes
        Lulic Mauri
    Ledesma Gonzalez
  Radu Dias Biava Konko
         Marchetti

Now I may not be a shrewed business mogul like Claudio Lotito.  I may not know everything that happens behind closed doors at the Formello.  It may sound cynical however Stefano Mauri had 2 years left to go on his contract and he's played all of maybe 90 mins + a cameo appearence in the Derby where he effectively did nothing and re-injured himself.  Where in the guidebook for owning a club for dummies written by Claudio Lotito with a foreword by Igli Tare, does it say:  Go and Extend that guy another year?

It just doesn't make any sense, when we could extend guys like Kozak or Hernanes long term.

Mauri extends Lazio contract
By Football Italia staff

Stefano Mauri has officially extended his contract with Lazio until June 2014, announced the Roman club.

The midfielder has been out of action for several months due to a long-term injury problem, but is due for his return later this month.

This evening the Biancocelesti released a statement confirming Mauri has signed a contract extension to June 30 2014.

It is a one-year addition to the current deal, which was set to expire in the summer of 2013.

^^^ Good point. While Mauri's shown some good quality before he got injured I wouldn't have rushed to renew his contract. I question their time management sometimes, I mean renewing a player who's not near his contract expiry date and then waiting to the last possible minute to sign players during mercato.
