Garrido is an eagle! Benvenuto Javier. I'd like to place my order in now for one of those freekicks like the one below against Wolves in the first derby this year. Anyway, reading around the MC fan forums I'm struck by the fact that everyone says he was decent (both as a player and as a hard-working professional) and that many think he didn't always get a chance to show his best. Also, there is talk of him being a little slow for the Premiership - but a good defender. To me that says, and correct me if I'm off, it means he has a hard time keeping up with the retarded Premship habit of everyone running everywhere all the time without half a thought to tactic or strategy (which is why the prem has never interested me). In that case, I think we might have done a fine piece of business here and he might just be a nice addition. Aside from the whole motivation thing as I'm sure he'll be out to prove himself and, call this an exaggeration but it's true, he will find the climate (environmentally and socially) more to his taste in Italy. My hopes for this guy are growing.  Mah!

For the moment I'll put aside the very deep unease I have whenever I think of a Basque player coming to Lazio!!!

I am very positive about this signing, aside from the financial issue, he has something to prove, he is young and the southern environment fits him. Welcome and honour the shirt

I don't think this is a bad signing at all. We all know which area needs the most investment, hopefully the marque signing is yet to come.

His age and price are the positives but I'll make a judgment when I see him play. However I'm happy that we made a move.

Good luck Javier

Wow, and apparently he was part of the Kolarov deal which means we payed nothing for him. Man City gave us Garrido and 18m for Kolarov. That is a dam good deal.

Someone to be hopeful about, perhaps. Now I am even more pleased about getting rid of Kolarov.

Benvenuto Garrido.

Yep Yep!

It's always best to be pragmatic with any new signing.

* Are they of quality to take Lazio to a new level?
\  Are they any better then what we have already got or could have got?

99.9% of the time, and at this present time, the point asterisk is either No, or I haven't got a clue. However, point backward slash on this occasion is a resounding YES. Garrido > Zauri? Of course. Garrido > Antonelli? Same.

I look forward to seeing this guy, he should be hungry and motivated, and desperate for games.

Btw unless I've had a brainfart for past years, is he the first Spanish player to play for us since De La Pena?

^^ he's basque, the first Basque since... you know who! hmmm perhaps the quality of the Basque is inversely proportionate to the cost of signing him and since we payed zero for Garrido, he should be an absolute superstar.

The last time we had a basque was one of the major disappointments in the Cragnotti era, but this should not be the case, after all it's only about some 2-3 mills

I think we would all prefer Kolarov, but Javier will be a good player for the boys, played with a big team, understands the pressure of a big team, understands playing for top four and not comfortable finishing mid table, age and price makes it a good addition!

We still need a central defender!!! The squad looks good this year, better depth than last year.
