It's been known for a while that Ledesma will obtain Italian citizenship this summer and thus free a spot on the Lazio roster for another so called extra-community (i.e. non-Euro player) - probably for Carizzo. However there is now news that Donadoni has made it known he would consider Ledesma for the job of back up for Pirlo if Ledesma wanted to join the Italian national team. boh?

I can understand him getting an italian citizenship. But I mean .. he's not even italian. People made a stink when camoranesi made the national team .. but he has some italian ancestry judging by his lastname. I think its an honor to have a Lazio player play for any national team but I honestly think Ledesma is not fit for the argentinian or italian national team.

I think the only players in the euro cup are behrami and radu correct me if im wrong.

Apparently Amauri from Palermo has done the same.

Lets get serious, this isn't the derby.  Ledesma has nothing to offer the Azzurri.  If he's not good enough for Argentina what makes him good enough for Italy.

Also Rozenhal most likely will suit up for the Czech's eventhough we don't own him so that adds to our representatives @ Euro 2008.

He's not even close to the skill level of Pirlo .. what a horrible back up he would be. Rumour has it Atletico Madrid is interested in him. I think they can have him if we can get good money. I'm sure we can find someone better.

I'm with Adamo on this one.

I like Ledesma and think he's an important part of our midfield...but for the national team? I don't know about that. If anything, I'd rather see Fiorentina's Montolivo as Pirlo's back-up. I mean, at least he's Italian.

When it comes to that other team there can be no objectivity! Merda is merda! Or.......merda is as merda does! Therefore Aquilani is merda, plain and simple!!

We have not heard from the guy yet and i think this may just prompt his native country to call him up......i mean he really deserves a "call up" for argentina.

I'm sorry but I dont think Ledesma needs to be rewarded. This is now what we're going to expect that the salary cap is higher so now all players are going to want a raise. I can understand trying to entice behrami, mudy and pandev to stay with money, but sorry ledesma has to go. He's one player I think we should cash in on if we can and find some young new talent with less demands. He seems to show up on derbys and he really scored the best goal of 06/07 but this year I wasn't impressed with his performance.

Ledesma wants new deal
Thursday 22 May, 2008

Cristian Ledesma wishes to tie his future to Lazio, but according to his agent the cub must improve on their current agreement.

Many of the Biancocelesti stars such as Valon Behrami and Goran Pandev are expected to head for the Stadio Olimpico exit after a disappointing season in the capital.

However, Ledesma is keen to stick with the club and sign a new contract, although it may take a big-money offer to satisfy his demands.

“My player is fundamental for the team, so we are waiting for a call to improve the contract,” claimed agent Vincenzo D'Ippolito.

“Without him Lazio struggle and Cristian wants credit for that. He has accepted their project and now that the salary cap is higher he would like to be rewarded.”

D'Ippolito also believes that Lotito should be looking to sign another of his clients, young Uruguayan striker Bruno Fornaroli.

“Fornaroli can score and has got a great vision for the goal. He is coming to Italy next week to become an Italian citizen,” he enthused.

“Two months ago I contacted Lazio in order to offer them the player, who would be happy to join his friend and former teammate Fernando Muslera.

But Nacional Montevideo have already rejected a £3.8m bid from Tottenham Hotspur,” warned D'Ippolito.

Depends on how much he wants. I've said it before - NO ONE is indispensible - no one. Lazio is a team, a tradition a lifestyle - not any one player. For the right price, I'd sell anyone on this team if it meant it would help us in the long run.  Now while it would be deeply destructive and destabilizing for management to publicly act in this way, as a fan, I only care about players inasmuch as they help the team.  00

(14/07/2008) Spr

I think we should sell him now. I hate the fact that we have a player who says he's willing to commit this year but is planning on leaving long term. I don't even think he's a great player. We should have picked up Giovinco. I think the plan should be either sell him now or sell him in the winter .. BUT SELL HIM! I cant respect a player who you know is so willing to leave.

Apparently Behrami is pointing towards west ham utd. It would be such a stupid mistake for him to leave to go to a team like west ham.  I wish he stayed at Lazio the team that made a name for him. Its not like west hams in the CL or anything either they are just a mid table team.
