We could have messi in his place and not much would change.  Its a team sport, the only reason zarate is not working out now is we have not invested in areas around him.  Not passing to anyone is his problem but then again where is the mid field to set anyone up and zarate is young so where is the coach to fix the problem.  Lots of potential still.

Don't forget that the coach who is in a team can affect a player, possitive or negative. Right now,Davide Ballardini coaches the youngster. Not one of the best coaches around...

"Cragnotti thinks president Claudio Lotito was ill-advised to invest €20 million Mauro Zarate"

Former Lazio Chief Sergio Cragnotti: Mauro Zarate Is Not A Team Player

“I would have spent the money to reinforce the team in a different way,” he told Radio Kiss Kiss. “Zarate is not a team player.”

Damn straight ! Maurito is shit ! From the first moment I saw him I knew that he is going to be a problem! For me he is nothing but a gold digger who wants all the glory for himself!

Maurito is shit? This is what we've come to here, even our best players are just shit now. Not to be churlish, but what are you doing here?

well I'm playing with your nerves I guess...   What do you see so special in him ? maybe the fact that he was shushing the CN or maybe the fact that he knows how to make a good deal with Lotito but doesn't know how to pass the ball once in a while !!! But don't worry Cruz is worse than him so he isn't the only one to blame.

Well I knew it wasn't to support Lazio. Maurito is one of the best young players around. Period. I think that's obvious to anyone who understands football.

Lazio’s Zarate hits back at Roma ace Totti
17.12.09 | tribalfootball.com

Lazio striker Mauro Zarate has hit back at Roma captain Francesco Totti.

Totti dismissed Zarate's star status last week.

In response, the Argentine declared: "I don't like talking about other players. I only speak about myself. I love football and I am not someone who wants to be hated by the Roma fans.

“Actually, when I meet them, I complement them. As for Totti, it's not like this with Lazio fans.”

Asked if an Italy side with Totti up front would win the World Cup, Zarate replied: “In my opinion, Pandev and Zarate would be stronger.”

"It's a shame that Goran isn't playing," Zarate told reporters this week. "Without him and Ledesma we are weaker. But these are decisions for the club to make."

agree.

it seems delio rossi is more "match" with zarate, just look at last season... zarate was like a machine gun that never stop to threat and (of course) making a lot of goals!

He had Pandev next to him last season. Thats why he use every oportunity to say how this team is weaker without him.

Maurito to ESPN Buenos Aires:

”Lui parla molto ma si dimentica che e’ gia’ finito. Sara’ da dieci derby che non segna un gol. Mi sembra strano che mi attacchi sempre. Io non gli rispondo, preferisco fare quello che devo fare, cioe’ giocare e segnare”.

Totti talks too much and he forgets that it's already over. It's probably ten derbies since he's scored a goal. It seems strange to me that he constantly attacks me. I prefer not to respond, I prefer to do what I need to do, that is play and score.

To be honest Totti still has it in him. Without Totti Roma would be next to Lazio in the standings.

Not that i'm defending Totti but an interesting observation on Football Italia stated Totti has more goals than all of Lazio this season. I cannot wait for Totti to slow down considerably.

Zarate on the other hand is a 22 year old engaging in a war of words with a proven highly rated player. I hope Zarate can provide the same impact as Totti did with R"ma. Let's hope Zarate can back his talking and take Lazio to greater heights.

If there was ever an award for:

Most likely to be in the closet, most-likely to do something ill-tempered(spit in an opposing players face), most likely to marry a beauty who in her heart supports your closest rival, most likely to contradict himself, most likely to prove that his education only exceeded the 10th grade, and most likely to fear a rival and in turn purposely avoid the match due to minor injuries.

The winner undoubtedly would be the Pride of the Wolves, "Il Re della Sputo" Francesco Totti.

aaaaaaaaaaaaahahaha I think he was trying to sing Seven Nation Army. Horrific attempt. The song became popular at the 2006 World Cup as nations Germany and Italy chanted it before/during games.

I agree with Aquile.

I read that Zarate said that Totti is finished which was kinda stupid,  sad to say but Totti is the one with 9 goals next to his name on the scoring charts and Zarate with none. As much as I also hate the guy(titti) but he's earned the upper hand in any argument with Zarate. He's also consistently performend year after year for the merde and you can't take that away from him.

I also hope Maurito can back up his words and start scoring goals cuz right now he's looking like a flop with all the hype that surrounded him when we first signed him.
