I hope he stay sna di think he will be here for some time and if we start winning then u can boast that he will be here for a long time. Goodluck Zarate. Thank you lolitto.
I have said before that every striker must have that trait of selfishness in him, zarate is not an exception. We have seen in the last games that he can be a solid provider. He will get better and more mature with time. Patience please!

I think he needs to be dropped occasionaly (when Balboa's fit). Make him see that he is'nt the be all and end all of Lazio.

I think all three strikers will get equal playing time and none of these three will be benched too much. Zarate brings a new element to the team and plays a different style than Rocchi. But I have to admit Rocchi is a finisher.

04/11/2008 10:58 Lazio To Tie Down Zarate - Reports Italian press rumours suggest that Lazio chief Claudio Lotito is ready to splash the cash in order to make Argentine Mauro Zarate’s loan deal permanent. The former Birmingham striker secured a loan move to the Formello-based outfit from Qatar club Al-Sadd this summer, with an option to buy his full rights next year.
The “Zarate Kid’ has enjoyed a fabulous start to life in Serie A and has already six goals to his name so far.
According to Rome-based paper Il Messaggero, President Lotito has started talks with the striker’s representatives and has reportedly tabled a mega-offer of €8m for five years.
The outspoken Aquile president met last night with Zarate’s brother Sergio, who is also his agent, and there are high hopes that the 21-year-old will put pen to paper on his new deal very soon.
However, the Laziali also need to complete negotiations with Al-Sadd, as the option to finalize his permanent transfer expires next April and the Biancocelesti are expected to pay the Qatar club €15m.
The Gazzetta dello Sport claims that there will not be any hitches, though, as Lazio are expected to resolve the situation by the end of 2008.
Afterwards, Lotito will turn his attention to another contract renewal, that of fan favourite Goran Pandev, whose current deal is set to run out in 2010.

05/11/2008 16:02 Lotito Flies Out To Secure Zarate Deal Lazio President Claudio Lotito has flown to Buenos Aires to make the final arrangements concerning a deal that will keep Argentine striker Mauro Zarate at the capital club. Mauro Zarate came to Rome in the summer on loan from Qatar side Al-Saad and has made an immediate impact in Serie A, scoring six goals in 10 starts for the Biancocelesti.
In a poll conducted recently by Argentinian daily Ole, fans were asked to choose the player whom they believed deserved to be called up to the Argentinian national team.
Zarate topped the list due to the phenomenal start made to his Lazio career. Lazio President Claudio Lotito is keen to secure the signature of 21-year-old Zarate, and a five-year contract is reportedly on offer. His brother Sergio is also his agent, and he is currenly in talks with the Lazio boss.
Lotito is confident that the deal will be completed soon, and the Lazio faithful will hope so too, as the Argentinian has already won a place in their hearts, as well as the bedroom walls and sticker albums of many a Roman resident.

05/11/2008 17:53 Lotito Announces Zarate Plan Lazio president Claudio Lotito reveals his plans to tie down Argentine hit-man Mauro Zarate for the next five years... The striker has been outstanding for his side thus far, notching up six goals in 10 games and winning over the Lazio faithful hand over fist.
Lotito is keen on keeping the prolific goal machine at the club for as long as possible and he has announced his move to ensure everything falls into place.
"Zarate already has a 5 year contract and I want to maintain the faith regarding his deal with Al Sadd," Lotito told Radio Sei.
"We will do everything we can to keep him here as he is our point of reference.
"I have an excellent relationship with him and he wants to stay here at Lazio. We have a great player in Zarate and we want to keep him here."
The hit-man is only on-loan from Al Sadd but the Rome-based club want to take him on a permanent basis with reports of a €21 million deal floating around Formello.

I read Barcelona and Manchester were both interested in Zarate according to piazzadellaliberta.it.

Zarate will be a key player for Lazio absolutely and he plays with Pandev well. This deal will save Zarate from other teams and he must stay with this because we need his goals. Forza Lazio Forza Zarate 08

Zarate Aiming For The Scudetto Lazio striker Mauro Zarate believes his side can aim for the Scudetto this term following the 3-0 win over Siena on Sunday...
The Biancocelesti's win sees them keep up the pace at the top end of Serie A.
Tommaso Rocchi scored a double but it was Zarate's free kick which won the praise. The hit-man is delighted and he insists the Tricolore is more than just an ambition.
"I missed scoring but the most important thing is that the team won and we are in a good position in terms of the league," Zarate told Sky Sport Italia.
"My ideas from the past haven't changed and I think we can still aim for the Scudetto."
Lazio's top-scorer so far this term has his eye on next weekend's big Roman derby and he has warned the Giallorossi.
"The Derby? It's the most important game of the year for us and we head into it in great form," concluded the striker.
Zarate's free kick against the Tuscan side was outstanding. The ball curled up and over the wall and into the top corner.

Monday 10 November, 2008 Blog: Oh brother! As Mauro Zarate continues to shine at Lazio, Antonio Labbate looks back with horror at the brief Serie A career of brother Sergio Italian journalist Paolo Condò said it all when he watched Sergio Fabian Zarate play against Napoli in 1992. “He’s lightning quick,” wrote the Gazzetta scribe after awarding him 4.5 out of 10. “If football was played without a ball then he would be world class.”
Zarate was handed his big Serie A chance by little Ancona 16 years ago, yet his top-flight Italian career lasted for less than six months. He was clearly not the Claudio Caniggia clone that many had painted him out to be.
Trouble seemed to be on the horizon from the minute the Paolo Belli look-a-like touched down in the peninsula. His long black hair looked out of place even for early ‘90s Italy, his selection of shirts came from the set of Magnum PI and his ‘Mouse’ nickname wasn’t all that mighty.
Nevertheless, Ancona – fresh from winning promotion from Serie B – had no option but to play the man that had wowed them while plying his trade in Germany with Nuremberg.
Zarate would only find the net for the port club on two occasions in his 11 League games. And even they were nothing to write home about when one considers they came in a single game against Zdenek Zeman’s Foggia – a side famed for being defenceless.
Zarate, who won one cap for Argentina, returned to Nuremberg after Christmas before he played out the rest of his career with a variety of clubs in the Americas.
Leaving as a Bidone, the term for a footballing flop, was the best thing he did for the Italian game. That was until, acting as an agent for his three younger brothers Rolando, Ariel and Mauro, he took the latter to Lazio.
With seven goals in 11 games, including his stunning free-kick yesterday against Siena, he’s arguably been one of the signings of the summer.

10/11/2008 14:17 Calcio Debate: Top 10 Serie A Summer Signings With the new Serie A season already 11 weeks old, Carlo Garganese looks at the summer signings who have impressed so far. 10) Gianluca Zambrotta (Barcelona to Milan) – The versatile full back had two rather mixed seasons in Spain after joining Barcelona from Juventus in 2006, and many questioned whether, at the age of 31, he could ever reach the levels that once made him the best left back in the world. However, he has slotted in perfectly at San Siro, and has already become a key figure at the back.
9) Thiago Motta (Free Transfer to Genoa) – Eyebrows were raised when Genoa announced the signing of the injury-prone Brazilian midfielder on a free transfer. Ex-Barcelona and Atletico Madrid man Motta has barely played in recent seasons due to recurrent knee problems, but if he can stay fit, the early signs are that he will be a big hit in the port city.
8) Stephan Lichtsteiner (Lille to Lazio) – Not too much was known about Swiss right back Lichtsteiner when he arrived at the Stadio Olimpico this summer, but the 25-year-old has already won the hearts and minds of the Lazio fans with his grit, determination, and never-say-die attitude.
7) Felipe Melo (Almeria to Fiorentina) – Without doubt has the potential to develop into one of Serie A’s most complete midfielders. Melo has been a real leader for the Viola in the middle-of-the-park, driving his side forward in Steven Gerrard-like fashion, and charging up the Stadio Franchi crowd at every opportunity. Full of confidence and personality.
6) Christian Maggio (Sampdoria to Napoli) – Pierpaolo Marino is widely regarded as the best transfer guru in Serie A, and he struck gold once again with the signing of Maggio. The 26-year-old is seemingly perfect for Napoli’s explosive, pass-and-move style of football, and he has already blessed the San Paolo with his regular trademark bursts down the right flank.
5) Ronaldinho (Barcelona to Milan) – Many cynics shrugged off Ronaldinho’s move to Milan as a commercial scam, but it seems they may soon be eating their words. The Brazilian is clearly not the same player he used to be, and he can no longer dribble past opponents, but in and around the edge of the box he is still a force. Five goals already, a number of these decisive, including the winner in the Milan derby - don’t write off Ronaldinho.
4) Alberto Gilardino (Milan to Fiorentina) – Anyone who frequently reads my debates will know that I am not the biggest Alberto Gilardino fan. He will never be world class, nor will he ever be a protagonist for Italy, but stick in him in a team just below the big-boys and he will guarantee you goals. This has been the case at Fiorentina where Gila has already found the net eight times in Serie A, as well as twice in the Champions League group stages. At €15m he represented a good deal for both the Viola and Milan.
3) Amauri (Palermo to Juventus) – Alessio Secco has become something of a laughing stock over the past couple of years following a long-line of disastrous signings. However, one player who has proved to be a success is Amauri. Admittedly Secco paid well over the odds for him at €15m plus Antonio Nocerino and Davide Lanzafame, but I’m sure this can be overlooked. The Brazilian-born striker has been a monster up-front, already bagging five goals in Serie A, as well as a crucial strike against Real Madrid in Europe. With David Trezeguet out injured, Amauri has linked up well with the ageless Alex Del Piero.
2) Diego Milito (Real Zaragoza to Genoa) – I really cannot speak highly enough of Milito, who at times is quite literally the perfect penalty box striker. Right foot, left foot, quick, brilliant with his head, Pippo Inzaghi-like movement and anticipation – it is no surprise that Il Principe is the top-scorer in Serie A with nine goals from just 10 games. An absolutely prolific goal machine, the decision by Genoa to bring him back for a second spell at the Stadio Ferraris was inspired.
1) Mauro Zarate (Al-Sadd to Lazio) – It was a close race between Argentines Zarate and Milito, but it is the Lazio man who wins in a photo finish. Seven goals in 11 Serie A games, a number of them stunning, as well as a whole host of assists, it is no surprise whatsoever that Biancocelesti President Claudio Lotito has been comparing Zarate to Barcelona’s Lionel Messi. Lazio are fourth in Serie A, just two points behind leaders Inter, and there is no doubt that much of this is down to the brilliance of Zarate. A phenomenon.
