I'm starting to think, more and more, that if we can trade Zarate and Kolarov, we should. I'm not terrifically confident either will turn out to be as great as they are being made out to be.

I got more faith in Kolarov then zarate at the moment, both have large flaws Kolarov-Defence, Zarate-Selfishness.  For the cost of zarate though he is going to have to really ramp up the performance to live up to his price tag, Kolarov's expectations are a little more realistic.

^^ Why? Kolarov seems completely unable to defend.

But considering he is an attacking LB defence is not really his top priority though I agree he really needs improvement.  What we need are two strong CB's that can cover the defence when kolarov  or any attacking LB/RB goes up.  I guess it all depends what the expectations are, for an attacking LB run up the wing, fire in crosses, take some corners, free kicks and help out in defence the best possible.  Obviously needs work in defence but was a player like Cafu, Jankulovski, Rise any really any good at D.  Defenders also typically need more time to develop than attackers, look at chiellini on the NT sometimes looks great other times like a rookie.

Harsh on Kolarov - yes he can't defend... that's why we've pushed him up to the wing.. but I take your point (if I read you) that you wish he would track back more. That's down to Edy to tell him to that. Anyway, you'll get your wish, all signs point to Inter in the Summer - or at least somewhere 'bigger' then us because he'll be in the worlds eye in the WC.

for those who like to live in the past of good memories, here is the most complete zarate video i have seen of last years Zarate. I cant believe he did all this in ONE season. Maradonna was a pure idiot not to give him a call up after so much.

Here's to hoping the revival of Mauro Zarate we once knew. Hoping to see this magic tomorrow.

After a season of shit - he's going to be amazing tomorrow?

Somehow I think not. Face it, he's a one season wonder.

Week after week, that looks truer and truer. Just watching that video of how phenomenal he was, all I can do is hope.

I still can't assimilate the fact a team like us under such circumstances wasted so much money on a single player, that was ludicrous, those 20 mln could have been divided much more efficiently

even after watching that lil video one can see how nearly everytime pandev was somewhere in there either assisting or recieving... i honetly dont think that zarate is a one hit wonder. i think its all about the squad and enviroment. his young and that effects them greatly. no pandev is a big mental lose not only physical. and all the pressure on him to score all the time, with no midfield leaves him to be making his own chances. which is what makes him look so greedy. new coach and ledesma hopefully change things. but u cant expect new coach to work straight away morale takes time

Hell of a video. Stunning. Shame this years equivalent will last only 1 minute rather than 8:24.

Excuse me but he brought that on himself - all that bullshit in the press from him and his agent saying 'he has no choice but to do it himself' etc etc. If he can't stand the heat, why not get out of the kitchen? Why not become more of a team player then try and fail to do it all himself?
Furthermore, do you notice something with all the skills Zarate showed in that clip? Long range shooting, dribbling? Well blow me down if he hasen't been doing that this season, the exact same skills. Except now, (a The rest of Serie A knows about it (b He is failing (b2 Part of the reason is because of HIM, and no other excuses! It is not Mauri's fault if Zarate cannot take the ball around a defender. It is not Cruz's fault if he can't score from long range anymore. These are Zarate skills. It's Zarate's perogative, and ultimately failure is down to him.

EDIT: And after today's game. Yet another example of him being a lame ass mofo.
