Mutarelli takes Lazio to court Sunday 17 August, 2008 Lazio are in for a legal battle after Massimo Mutarelli threatened to sue if they didn’t terminate his contract.
Mutarelli is one of several players who have failed to renegotiate their deals with the club this summer and are seeking moves elsewhere, but so far have been priced out of the market.
These seven – Mutarelli, Roberto Baronio, Tommaso Berni, Simone Inzaghi, Quadri, Santarelli and Guglielmo Stendardo – did not attend the pre-season training camp at Auronzo di Cadore and are still working separately from the squad.
According to the Gazzetta dello Sport, most of them have accepted it is because they are on the market awaiting a move, but Mutarelli is more pro-active.
The midfielder has reportedly appealed to the Lega Calcio for a termination because Lazio broke the terms of the contract.
President Claudio Lotito insists the club did stand by the rules, as these outcasts have still been given a fitness Coach and staff to work with.
The appeal’s committee will let its verdict be known on August 21.

Lazio 'risk points penalty' Friday 21 November, 2008 Lazio “risk a points penalty” if they don’t pay Massimo Mutarelli outstanding wages by Monday, warns his lawyer.
The increasingly bitter split between the midfielder and his club has been dragging on since May, when the Biancocelesti froze him and several others out of the squad in a bid to prompt their transfers.
Nobody signed him and he is not even training with the rest of the team. The matter has already gone to the Lega Calcio, who ruled Mutarelli could terminate his contract and Lazio owed 20 per cent of his annual wage.
“The deadline for that reimbursement is November 23,” explained lawyer Marco Ieradi on Radio Erre 2.
“If Lazio do not pay, then they risk serious sanctions, such as a points penalty for the current season. If they do not reimburse the player, then we have no other choice.”
President Claudio Lotito has remained tight-lipped on the affair and the club has asked for a postponement.
“It is surprising that Lazio want to continue their legal battle against us. They are well within their rights to request a postponement, but that does not mean Lazio are right,” continued Mutarelli’s lawyer.
“I understand this behaviour less than ever now, seeing as the Lega Calcio’s ruling cannot be appealed and its motivation was written in a clear fashion.
“I don’t see where they can try to attack it. Of course, we cannot stop the President from doing what he considers to be opportune.”
Mutarelli has not commented so far on the lengthy legal battle that has stalled his career, but that is going to change.
“Up until now we have kept a low profile so as not to create too much clamour in the newspapers. I think the time has come for Massimo to reveal his side of the story and he will do next week, either in a Press conference or a video tape.”
The midfielder made his Serie A debut in 1996 and has played for Atalanta, Genoa, Palermo and Lazio, joining the Biancocelesti in 2006.

Lotito attitude towards home players. Mutareli doesn't deserve such treatment he was one of the players that played with heart.

I think its a shame it has to end like this. It seems to be a pattern for players to leave this team with a bitter taste thanks to lotito. I think its more of a rumour when you hear about the players being a problem in the changeroom as opposed to lotito just trying to screw them over. The story usually goes the player plays for Lazio for a few years and as soon as his contract is up for renewal we start reading rumours about how they were a bad seed.
Mutarelli was a great player and poured his heart out when he played. He seemed like a true blue and white player and is now leaving on bad terms. His derby goal off mauri's crossbar was a memorable goal as it sealed the 3-0 against the merde 2 years ago.

Mutarelli harbours Lazio grudge Friday 23 January, 2009 Bologna new recruit Massimo Mutarelli has explained why he feels so let down by former side Lazio.
The 31-year-old went through the courts to rescind his contract with Lazio and signed a contract with Bologna yesterday.
“I am happy and I will be better still when I get back on the pitch,” Mutarelli said on Radio Erre 2.
“I still need a little time because I haven't played for six months, but I'm not scared of hard work.
“I had some horrible months at Lazio because they stopped me playing the sport that I love and that had repercussions for my physical and mental condition.
“You can't always agree with everyone, but there are certain ways that people must conduct themselves.
“I suffered an attack on my person that went beyond my status as a player. There were various reasons but I didn't understand because I always gave my best.
“I'm still disappointed with lots of people at Lazio and that's upsetting because it has tarnished my relationships in Rome off the pitch.”

Let's face it, mutarelli's best play was a thigh high challenge on titty - which i still love. I wouldn't be so quick as to blme Lotito, Mutarelli was reputed to be a real virus in the dressing room and difficult to deal with. In any event, he doesn't fit on this team at this point. Good luck to him.
