Lazio e basta

Troubled former Rangers star Paul Gascoigne today said drink and drugs nearly killed him in 2008, which he described as his worst year ever.

The retired England footballer, who also played for Newcastle Utd, Spurs and Italian club Lazio, said he was on the last of his lives.

In an interview with the Sun, Gazza said: "This is my last chance.

"2008 was a terrible year for me, my worst year ever. The drink and drugs nearly killed me, not once but a few times. And getting sectioned was the worst thing ever.

"I know I can never drink again otherwise it will kill me."

For me this is sad news and something that has been going on for a while. Probably for a lot of fans of Italian football in the UK he was the initial reason for tuning into watch on a sunday afternoon and probably also influenced other english players like paul ince to try there luck in Serie A. Forza Lazio, and Forza Gazza.

Yeah he really hit rock bottom. I saw a video of him drunk on youtube and it was a total shame that such a historical football figure and one of Lazio's became such a total mess.

When Gazza played for Lazio, I haven't been Laziale yet so I can't judge him but I know that he is very obsessed to alcohol. Sad times for him. I guess he is not good enough to be Lazio Idol.

Yer, I guess your right Idol would be pushing it. Thou he did score his first goal against the  to equilise I when I was in rome this summer I was pleasantly suprised to see an number of pictures of him in the Lazio sports shops around the city. Sad to see someone of great talent just fall apart. Heres a reminder of his genius with this great goal for England against Scotland. (Apologies to all you scotts on the site).
