Seeing Inzaghino score almost brought tears to my eyes from joy and seeing a lazio legend redeem himself after years of seeing the bench. Maybe this old dog might still have some new tricks. Grazie Inzaghino!  00

Inzaghi Dedicates Goal To Himself
Tonight Lazio striker Simone Inzaghi found the net again after a four year wait in the home match against Lecce, who came within a minute of securing a shock 1-0 victory.

After a goal drought of four years, veteran striker Simone Inzaghi finally found the net again tonight, and it came at an important moment, as it allowed Lazio to avoid an embarassing home defeat to Lecce in the 89th minute.

"Yes, it's a liberating goal," he said after the match, "but I'm happy because we did not deserve to lose. It's a good point, even though we deserved to win."

The 32-year-old dedicated tonight's goal to two people in particular, as he explained: "I dedicate this goal to my uncle, who passed away this week, and to myself, because for two months I worked silently, I never gave up and now I've been repaid."

Just a couple of months ago it seemed as if Lazio no longer wanted him, but now the striker confirms he still wants to play an important role for the Biancocelesti.

"I'm not giving up hope. Tonight I knew I would come in, though I hoped it would be earlier on. In any case, I'm happy I was able to help my team mates," he concluded.

Inzaghi had scored his last Serie A goal back in the 2004/2005 season, also for Lazio.

Great to see Simone score tonight!! His hard work over the past couple of months paid off tonight after scoring the equaliser. I still believe he can score some important goals for Lazio throughout the season, whether it be in the league or the coppa, whether it be from starting or coming off the bench.

FORZA INZAGHINO!!

I rather expected a goal from Muslera than from Inzaghi, but he was just on time to save us from the bigger embarassment and typical for Italy he speaks more than he has done...get real!!!

Inzaghi: I'm back!
Saturday 4 October, 2008
Lazio wanted Simone Inzaghi out this summer, so he feels tonight's goal has a special meaning, while Mario Beretta concedes the draw was correct.

Inzaghi was one of several players who were frozen out of the Biancocelesti squad in pre-season and ordered to train separately at the Formello ground.

“I dedicate this goal to my uncle, who died this week, and to myself. It wasn't easy to train hard on my own for two months,” he said of the 1-1 draw with Lecce.

“I thought I'd be back in the side earlier, but that's alright. I am happy for me and for the team, because we did not deserve to lose tonight.

“We earned a good point, but now it is already time to focus on the next match, because we strongly wanted the three points today and it didn't happen.”

This result leaves Lazio's leadership of Serie A at risk, but it could so easily have been worse, as Lecce were leading until the 89th minute through Simone Tiribocchi.

“The draw is the right result, I suppose,” mused Lecce boss Beretta. “We played an excellent first half, were very aggressive and created some chances we should've dealt with better.

“As the second half wore on, Lazio turned up the pressure. We went too deep, but not out of choice, quite simply their quality players were pinning us back.”

I'm afraid that your favorite player isn't as good as you think! he scored goal against lecce after 4 years of silence! I would rather give Kozak chance or maybe Mendicino!

Yh mate he use to be really good and if hes still a lazio we have to fully support him. But when you have rocchi pandev and zarate in your team how can you replace inzaghi with them.

Seriously, enough with Inzaghino. I liked him a lot, he's a loyal player but who should we sit for him? Perhaps Inzaghi for Zarate? or for Pandev......or better yet start him in the midfield instead of Foggia. Inzaghi no longer fits into this team. Sorry, but it's true.
