I think its time this guy gets his own thread. I think the panic is now over of getting this guy. We've been let down last summer and once again in the winter but now we can finally welcome a new Lazio legened.

Here's the photos of him in Rome:

Serie A - Lazio seal prolonged Carrizo deal

Lazio have finally signed goalkeeper Juan Pablo Carrizo from River Plate after problems with his documentation held up the move for a year.
FOOTBALL: Lazio goalkeeper Juan Pablo Carrizo - 0

The Rome side were forced to play 44-year-old goalkeeper Marco Ballotta last season because of the hitch in Carrizo's move.

"I am proud to finally wear the shirt," Carrizo said.

"I thank the fans who have waited for me for a year."

The 24-year-old Argentine had been on River's books since 2001, making his debut in January 2006.

He won his one and only international cap to date in a friendly against Chile in April last year.

Here's an audio link (IN ITALIAN) from Carizzo's arrival:

AUDIO LINK

From other source:

"I am proud to be finally wearing the Lazio shirt and I want to thank all fans who have waited for me for a year". These are the first words of Juan Pablo Carrizo at the arrival of the new goalie of Lazio on Fiumicino airport this morning at 9:20h from Buenos Aires via Madrid with Air Europa. "Many great players have already worn this shirt" he added, "I am happy to do the same and I'm ready for this adventure". The goal keeper, who was accompanied by his agent, Jose Dahbar, received a warm welcome from the supporters at the airport, as well as the team manager of Lazio, Maurizio Manzini. Carrizo, while waiting for his luggage, took time for photos and autographs. "Good luck Juan Pablo", "We'll win the derby", "Finally a great goalie", are some of the things shouted by the Lazio fans. An embracement with a young fan in a wheelchair, Emanuele, was a touching moment. At 14:00h Carrizo, who won the Argentinean Scudetto with River Plate, will be officially presented to the press at Formello, Lazio's headquarter.

Too much excitement today!!! Everyone can feel this is our saviour, I just know it!  You really get the feeling that he wants to be here and he has the capability to stealing points for us this year similar to Peruzzi did for us in 06.  I love how durring the interview on piazzadellaliberta.it that 90% of the questions were related to the derby.

Carrizo: Forza Lazio!
Monday 7 July, 2008
Argentine goalkeeper Juan Pablo Carrizo has finally arrived at Lazio and expressed his delight at completing a “dream move.”

The River Plate custodian seemed certain to join the Biancocelesti last summer, but his move stalled over citizenship and work permit problems.

However, the deal has finally been done and the highly rated South American can look forward to playing in Serie A after being presented to fans today.

“I want to thank all the fans for having waited for me,” he grinned. “It’s a very important day for me and I want to do my best here. Forza Lazio!

“I dreamed of coming to Italy and I chose Lazio because I liked the club and its tradition of Argentine players.

“I am proud to be a part of this team and I hope to play a big role. Who are my idols? Santiago Canizares, Julio Sergio and Gigi Buffon,” he concluded.

I noticed the same thing on a lot of sites about how he references the derby. This guy seems pretty hard core. I hope he stays with us for a long time.

This is history in the making. Lazio has always been known for having a good goally and to get carrizo and zarate this is just a sign for what kind of season lazio will have.             FORZA LAZIO 00 09 09 09 09 09 09 09 09 09 09 09

I agree. I'm not expecting them to win the scudetto by any means but I think they will give the fans something they deserve and I think Carizzo was what they needed most. I can't wait for him to make a name for himself under Lazio. It's a real prestige to have one of the worlds best keepers.

Good luck JP!

I was hoping he would have got off the plane with one of those huge ASriomamerda signs Muslera had!
