Rolando Bianchi is officially ours ... Bianchi told Lazio's official club website: "I had two other very interesting offers, but I chose Lazio for my future and to see how I could do at a big side. "It was a tough decision that I thought over long and hard to make sure that I made the right move. Here I will have the chance to play more often, which makes me happy. http://www.youtube.com/v/UWlBM-cui34WELCOME TO S.S LAZIO 1900 00 00 00 00 00 00 00

Hopefully, Bianchi will be revitalized by a return to Italy and the Serie A. While he looked good at Manchester City, his performance certainly did not compare with last season at Reggina. Perhaps it was the difference in style, I can't be sure. If it works, Lazio could start to work with a rotating striker system, allowing Pandev, Rocchi and Bianchi to all get regular starts and chip away at fatigue, which was such an important factor in our problems this season. What I fear, however, is that Bianchi was purchased as a long-term replacement for Pandev, who might be sold this summer. That would be a mistake, not only because we Laziale love Pandev's skill and work ethic. The team absolutely needs three fit, in form strikers. (Tare, who I at least respect for his work ethic, and Makinwa do not cut it, and I have not seen enough of Del Nero to make an assessment.) ONE OF OUR BIGGEST PROBLEMS this year has been far too thin of a squad, making a combination of European play, league competition and cup competition a recipe for disaster. 09 07

I agree. I think he's a long term replacement for Pandev which sucks cuz he's pretty much everyones favorite.
But I also believe that we'll get a few good replacement strikers ... considering Tare(contract expires this year) and Makinwa(sucks royally) are gone this year. I hope we can lose Vignaroli too (useless purchase) as well.

I agree, This is sounding like more and more of a reality with every new Pandev transfer quote. Pandev is still better and actually seems to be attached to Lazio while Bianchi is more concerned with getting the hell out of England. It's great that Lotito finally signed a good player but to lose Pandev would make this whole situation just smoke and mirrors. Mabye he thinks its a publicity stunt to show that he will spend money. Yes it's great that they could have three strikers to rotate, would also be nice to actually have another important competition to participate in and this is still not gaining any ground. With all the bad luck and injuries/suspensions to the defense and Stendardo wanting to leave this is insane. When is the deadline? Any news of a defender signing?

Okay, I've seen him play a few games now, and I am still willing to give the kid the benefit of the doubt. Nevertheless, and even though he scored today, and even though it's his second in two game here goes.....I am not impressed thus far. Mildly interested perhapps, but not impressed yet. And then I got to thinking.... Why is he so lackluster and I've come to the belief that Bianchi was good in reggina because he was the only pony in a one horse show. They fed him all the passes - not that I'm saying that it makes it easy to score, because he did score a lot with Reggina and was impressive. What I am saying is that if he is going to stay at Lazio, he needs to learn how to be part of a striking team that includes one (maybe two) other strikers on the field with him and that means he has to sacrifice a shot on goal once in a while to set up the other guy sometimes. If he can learn this soon, he'll be great. If not (and some strikers simply cannot play outside of the lone wolf position) then we should send him back.

Yeah I agree. He made a few selfish moves today and kept the ball way too long and didnt pass when he should have. He's scored two goals thus far, but that doesnt mean as much as how he fits in with the team.

I agree with you Latius, he held onto the ball way too long several times in the game and the blatant mistake he made on the 3 on 2 break with Rocchi wide on the left was ridiculous. I think it's a little harsh to judge him after 2 games. It may take a while for him to adjust to what Lazio's doing tactically. As Imperatore said, at Reggina they may have worked solely to get the ball to Bianchi in the box and therefore he scored many goals. His role here is very different. Time will tell.

This could be the same case with players like Gilardino and Tavano, many of the lower rank teams have a striker that scores most of their goals.

I think it's still too early. Maybe in 4-6 games we'll have a better idea, but I think this season is a write-off anyway. Next year he might be completely different....you need time to get familiar with everything. They still have a chance to make it to uefa and this game might be have been motivational, but I don't even really like the uefa cup. Too many games. It might be good to just concentrate on serie A next year.

Concentrate on Serie A?
I say grab that UEFA cup spot if you can. I know they have a slim chance of getting it, with their irregular play, but what are they going to gain by not being in any international competitions? They're certainly not going to win the Scudetto.

I agree with not being in CL but I think being in the uefa would show that we're not just a mediocre team in Serie A and also make this team some more money which we need. Next season they just need to put more heart and not lose to shit teams. This team definately should be ahead of Napoli, Genoa, Atalanta and Samp this season.

I was skeptical about how well the tridente would work, it seemed to sacrifice too much and i didn't really know how well Pandev would do in the new position. After two games, I really like it. I think this could be the model for Lazio in the next season. Bianchi seemed to do well in the first 3/4 of the match but he still shoots when he should pass. They need to develop his play-making abilities and get him to broaden his vision if he's going to be a long-term fit for the club. The other thing I like about him is that given his youth he fits nicely with the getting older Rocchi and the prime-time Pandev. As Rocchi gets older, Bianchi would fit in nicely and play a bigger and bigger role. Assuming we decide to keep Rolandinho I think we should send Mauri off and get Meghni more time on the field. Having Meghni, Ledesma and Mauri, in the absence of UEFA play, is too many of the same player for our needs.
