I figured since with Balla gone we have a little less to argue and bitch about , and since this is Lazio pub, I would start a thread on fave beers.

What are your favorites (warning anyone who puts down Canadian, Blue, Bud or any light beer will be mercilessly ridiculed).

Anyway here goes:

In no particular order:

Lasko Zlatorog (Slovenian Pilsner)
London Pride
Warsteiner
Moretti
Dylan's

The only lager I am happy to drink is Carlsberg. I don't like anything else. I'm a Southern Comfort/Cointreau/White Wine and an occassional Sailor Jerry man.

So; basically I am like a young and hip male/female (Soco) an Old Man (Cointreau) and a Woman (White wine) and an Old Man (Sailor Jerry Rum)

Anyway to answer your question. Is Carlsberg for me. And shoot, I said I wasen't coming back until tomorrow. This place is like an alcholic stimulant. A little bit every day is not enough.. MORE is better.

London Pride, very nice Imper. But, I like quite a few local sussex ale's such as Arundel Gold, HSB, which will probably mean nothing to almost everyone here I would think. Gorgeous stuff. Having said that I Peroni and Moretti. I used to like Cidar but can't stand the smell of it anymore after a bad night on it many many moons ago.

Anyone putting down Budweiser and other North American excuses for a beer will be mercilessly ridiculed? I accept my fate then. I am not much of a boozer but I do love the taste of beer. Finns have a bad habit of not being able to consume beer in civilised manner and the beers we make are nothing to write home about either. I like some brands like Lapin Kulta, Karhu and Karjala just for the Finnish identity they bear eventhough it is, obviously, only superficial. My favorites come from Czech Republic, I guess. I sampled a wide variety of less known and local brands whilst in Prague several years ago but I would still go for Kozel, nectar of gods. Pilsner Urquell is a close second. Germany also has an unbelievable amount of quality beers and even the cheapest "budget beers" are perfectly drinkable. Warsteiner is one of the bigger and blander brands as far as I am concerned. Once in a small pub somewhere in Berlin a comrade of mine ordered on my behalf and to my surprise I soon had a pint of very tasty Polish beer called Lech before me. That has stuck with me for some reason. Moretti intrigues me to this day. I know people who have tasted it and survived but I have never bothered to drink beer in Italy. In fact, when in Italy I tend to forget beer even exists.

Yes, Lech is also a very nice beer and there are few others that I've tried Okocim and afew others  whose names I can't recall.

(Don't get me wrong, i drink wine like it's going out of style, make my own too - but i hate the whole bourgeoise wine culture BS that has developed over the last decade. And while I generally drink wine in Italy, when hanging out with friends one can't very well sit about sipping wine all night. And besides, pizza needs beer.)

You have tasted Lech too? I cannot find it over here. Would be nice to get a taste of it in a can or bottle. Pizza reminds me I actually did have a can of some Dutch beverage in Rome while munching on pieces from tavola calda. I need to finally try Peroni and Moretti next time. I still disagree pizza needs beer. Light red wine goes best with almost any kind of pizza you can think of, I would say.

Samuel Smith this is a beer that I have recently fallen in love with, at least its winter ale.
Peroni I drank nothing but when in Italy, great beer.

I haven't drank for a while now, trying to compensate the past summer in Armenia where i used to have 3 beers a day and mostly Miller midnight. Was in Moscow a month ago where i had a russian beer called Baltika 9 which was the light version of a vodka, it got me drunk after a bottle, other favourites are Tuborg, Kilikia(armenian), and Staropramen

Paulaner is terrific, and Steigl, how could i forget Steigl - super beers. As for Toronto brews, I will say that I am warming to Mill St. Ale - it's a nice cold weather beer. As for Amsterdam (the beer from Toronto not the city) it's great for getting tough stains out of your toilet!
