Video games?!?!?! What happened to the days when virile young men in their spare time would brawl in the streets, drink heavily, bang whores, smoke cigars, engage in various feats of strength and behave with boorish chauvanism? When did Western men turn into Hindu cows? E Dajeeee!!!!!

No point starting a new thread for this - thought I'd stick it in here. Sailor.

Maradona will be no more. I'm a bit disappointed because I had visions of Diego lifting the Copa America aloft in Buenos Aires and making Argentina the most successful South American football team in the continent, overtaking Uruguay with total CA wins... but I think that'll happen anyway

What disappoints me is that it's something childish why the relationship is over. Grandona, head of the FA, wanted Maradona to change his staff, particularly the defensive coach, Ruggeri. Maradona said if you touch any of them I will quit. So he did.

But seriously, it would be a new term so surely having new staff to work with would be a good thing. And perhaps it was also clear that the coaching staff were not getting the best out of some of the players.

As for a replacement, shall wait and see. As long as we don't get some humdrum fucktard from the Argentinian league like the equivalent of Menezes. Pah.

Maybe Carlos Bianchi, his Boca record was sick

Knew you would do that, hence why I have just logged in. Childish retribution, and not for the first time. Way to go.

Having suffered them for three years, boring lectures are not for me. Hence, despite your Pro-Inter nature and limited credibility, I expected more from your post except for some made-up analysis and guesswork, telling me definitively who Lazio do and do not need. We all have different ideas about who or what we need and such, it's the forum after all. I would actually laugh my ass off if we start the new season with any other formation then 3-4-3.

Theo, Theo, Theo my boy. Maradona is the greatest player I have ever seen play (I am not old enough to remember Pele personally). I remember being in Napoli a decade ago with my dad. I was in the thick of one of Napoli's characteristically dense and narrow alleyways. As I wandered aimlessly (my preffered method of visiting any city) I came upon a picture of Maradona on a wall, completely random in its placement. It had flowers and a candle under it in the style typical of southern Italian saint veneration. The problem is, he is also a stark raving crackpot, a camorrista drug adict and, frankly, not the brightest bulb on the tree. He lacks any social grace whatsoever and is a bit of a dickhead. I really didn't see him in this job for too long.  I have a poster of him in my classroom from circa 1986 wearing the albiceleste. In the picture, he is the Maradona I remember as a kid....ball at his feet, stocky muscular build, burning, ambitious gaze - and, best of all because it's a poster, he shuts the fuck up.

I was in Naples as well as Sorrento,Capri,Rome,Florence & Pisa (Gods country) Malta,Tunisia,Corsica,Monaco on my summer holidays.Maybe a little unfair to say but i could see why Maradona could settle or (unsettle) down in Naples almost a carbon copy of his homeland. Was only there for a short trip, but was amazed at the stalls with scarfs, strips, stuff with Maradona's name on it,witch leads me to Rome ha,Inter,Milan,Juve,Napoli,Merda and a few more all had a presance in these stalls and souvineer shops but could i find a decent quilitey Lazio jersey no chance.I was'nt looking for this seasons kit but just a replica kit for my 5yr old bhoy impossible.Probably not looking in the correct places but in the centre of Rome come on Poor very Poor.Even got a few funny stares for askingif they had the kit,get it up ya was my reply.

Nice stories guys

I'm afraid my knowledge of Naples is a mixture that is limited to well-worn stereotypes and bits and pieces I have read in travalogues. I can't say I consider myself unlucky not to have gone  but it's certainly a place that intrigues me, not least because, as you say, it's very similar to an Argentinian shanty town.

No doubt that I have more chance of getting to Naples then Buenos Aires although the latter is certainly an ambition of mine, to see a qualifier or better at some point in my life.

The stereotypes about Naples are very true, but at the same it is a wonderful city and most of the people are warm and friendly and the food is terrific. It also hyelps to stay ot of trouble if you speak Italian and look yoyurself like a dodgy dego bastard (as I do!). Nevertheless, I always go to Naples when I am in Italy and have taken my wife and sister along with me at times. It's both as bad and and beautiful as they say.

Nothing quite like looking over the bay of Naples at dusk with Mt Vesuvius in the background. Gods country indeed.

I have to be fair i did'nt see much of Naples its self but apart from the dodgy port and even dodgier taxi driver who tried to abduct my wife i was hell bent on getting on the boat to Capri/Sorrento.I love my mammas pasta but the frute de mar in sorrento gave her a close run and the carbonara/arrabiata just round from the trevi fountain were out this world.Sad but i love my food,i'll never forget those plates of pasta. What a country for food, females & football

Sorrento is a fantastic place to visit, can't wait to go back somewhen. I went across to Capri as well, sadly it was raining at the time and the highlight involved going up some chair lift supported by what seemed a small piece of hosepipe around my waist right to the top of the island. Slightly preturbing.

Capri is okay..I guess. Problem is that the best part of Capri is Tiberius' Villa (i.e. Villa Jovis) and nobody bother to walk the 45minutes  up the mountain to see it. It is absolutely worth it. Otherwise there are also i faraglioni.

didnt know where to post this or weather I should post it at all. for any one who still follows ex-Lazio youth Frerico Macheda, he looked like a man on fire last night in a friendly against the MLS all-stars(If you can call them that). Macheda scored in the first 25seconds and again at 11', almost another at 40'; and was named star of the game. he looks tipped to get some first team play this season at manU. maybe some day down the line he will at least come back to Italy, and in my wildest dreams come back to Lazio(given management changes)

He will be back! He said as much himself. I bear no grudges. If I was a Lazio youngster, even I'd probably fuck off, because of Lotito.

He said he will remain a fan and until he returns, that's good enough for me.

SERIE A FANTASY GAME

Just wondering if anyone is interested in doing one. I did find this website that you could use any email address but they charge for private leagues. Bustards.

So the only alternative is a yahoo one - that needs a yahoo email account. I'd be happy to set one up if there are enough people who want to play. Put your name down if your interested, I'm looking for a minimum of 8.
