Acqua chooses Atalanta
Wednesday 24 June, 2009
Inter striker Robert Acquafresca will join Atalanta on loan next season, according to the Italian Press.

The 21-year-old has spent the last two years with Cagliari, scoring 25 goals in 68 appearances.

He returned to Inter this summer, but doesn't feature in Jose Mourinho's plans for next season.

Several clubs have tried to sign him, including Juventus, Genoa, Parma and Fulham.

However, Acquafresca is said to like the project outlined by new Atalanta Coach Angelo Gregucci, which will focus on young players.

Acquafresca is currently at the European Under-21 Championship in Sweden where he has made quite an impression.

He has scored three goals in three games and consequently helped book Italy's place in the semi-finals.

We were never really interested.

Eliseu Pereira dos Santos (born October 1, 1983 in Angra do Heroísmo, Azores), commonly known as Eliseu, is a Portuguese footballer who currently plays with Málaga in the Spanish first division, as a winger with lightning speed.

His mother is from Cape Verde, while his father was born in the Azores islands.
 Club career

Eliseu moved to Portugal's mainland in 2002, joining C.F. Os Belenenses from S.C. Lusitânia (in Azores) aged 19. He gradually broke into the Lisbon-based club's first team, appearing in 19 matches during his second season.

After a loan with Varzim S.C., in the second level, Eliseu continued to be a relatively important offensive player for Belenenses. However, in 2007–08 he, alongside countrymen Hélder Rosário and Paulo Jorge, moved to , helping the Andalusians to top level return after a two-year absence, with the Portuguese totalling 108 matches and six goals combined (three from Eliseu).

In 2008-09, Eliseu continued to be firmly established in the side's starting XI, netting his first La Liga goal(s) in a 4–0 away win over neighbours Recreativo de Huelva, on October 5, 2008. The following month, he also scored, in a 3–4 loss at Real Madrid.

On 25 June 2009 Eliseu joined S.S. Lazio for exactly €1.000.000.

 International career

Courtesy of his Málaga performances, Eliseu was first called to the Portuguese national team for a friendly match with Finland on February 11, 2009, but did not leave the bench.

He finally made his debut on June 10, in a 0-0 friendly match in Estonia.

Not really eye-catching, but he is an international player now.
And his status will improve with lazio.

Lazio Chief Claudio Lotito Hints At Pavel Nedved Return
Nedved could still end up joining Lazio, but there has not been any contact just yet...
Lazio president Claudio Lotito has opened the door to a possible Pavel Nedved return, but he admits there has not been any contact with the midfielder.

Nedved left Juventus at the end of last term and although there were suggestions of retirement, his agent Mino Raiola has always claimed the former Czech international would carry on playing.

Reports in Italy have linked Nedved to a return to Lazio and, although Lotito would welcome a move, there has not been any progress just yet.

"Nedved? We are always looking at players who made history with Lazio even if they recuperate their profession in different roles," Lotito told Il Corriere Dello Sport.

"However, I have not spoken to him, I just read the papers."

The Aquilotti have signed Eliseu from Spanish side Malaga, but Lotito admits the deal will not be official until the contracts are deposited with the football league.

"Eliseu is our new player? Yes, but only when the papers arrive in the football league," concluded the chief.

Eliseu Eager To Get Started With Lazio
The midfielder cannot wait to begin his new experience in Serie A...
Lazio will be playing in the Europa League next season and after securing the permanent transfer of Mauro Zarate have now added Portuguese international winger Eliseu from Malaga to the squad.

The player is obviously pleased by the opportunity as shown by his statements upon arriving in the Italian capital.

"I am very pleased to have arrived at such a prestigious club. I look forward to getting started," he was quoted as saying by Goal.com Italia after landing in Rome's Fiumicino airport yesterday afternoon.

Eliseu enjoyed a successful campaign with Malaga in 2008-09, scoring 7 times. His presence will gave Lazio another wide option, as he can play as a midfielder in a 4-4-2 or an external striker in a 4-3-3.

Lazio reportedly fought off competition from Siena and Sevilla for his signature. The 25-year-old has signed a five-year contract with the Biancocelesti.

Like any signing it could go either way but from what ive seen of him the fee we paid will likely turn out to be peanuts in the long run. As for Acquafresca thats a shame because he had a great season in our league and would have been the perfect foil for Zarate.
